Post your Workstation 2012

Here is my completed workstation. I finished my new build last week, so I figured it was time to post a pic here showing everything together.

Just picked up a Dell U3011, to use as my main display. Using a Dell 2007FP on each side rotated in portrait for a total resolution of 4,960 x 1,600. Also using a LED strip on the back of the 30in (powered by a USB connection) to give off some ambient lighting for late night gaming sessions with the rest of the lights off in the home office. Currently have a piece of blue film over the LEDs to give off a blue glow.

I purchased the desk while in college, and it has been with me through a few moves since then. Its a Southampton Right Desk and Return, with accompanying Hutch.

Love the setup and the build!

yup razer black widow ultimate. Ya I do like it. I'll definitely stick with mechanicals from here on out. Not sure how it compares to other mechanicals though.

Dude nice choice in mouse. I used to have the Logitech G5. Best mouse I ever used. What mousepad is that?

what chair do you use with that keyboard tray?

yes my desk is tiny.... once we move and get another room i can get a bigger desk and a couple more monitors perhaps. if i don't let my wife know that is, might be hard to hide those though eh?

Have you heard the A5 series of speakers? I have them and am curious how they compare with those that you have. I'd like to put them on my computer since they are smaller.

i have not, these are my first pair of decent speakers so i don't really know what to compare them to...

I think you meant to quote Mr_Armageddon

The Mousepad is a Steelseries 5L. The chair is some random one I picked up from Office Depot over 5 years ago for around $300. It has a mesh seat and back, so keeps my backside nice and cool when sitting for longer gaming sessions :D

I'm always a fan of recessed lighting on my workstations :D

I've got a couple Ikea desk laps that I reflect off the wall behind the monitors to soften the room.

Here's a sketch of the desk I'm looking to make myself. Just wanted to post it here to see if I could get some recommendations, get thoughts and ideas, and get feedback. Let me know what you guys think.

Will probably make the table top and shelves out of MDF boards. The legs will be made of metal piping and pipe fittings.

Looks good to me. Although i would make room for an eyefinity/surround or a 30 inch monitor. Dont forget cable holes for the cables! Also, some led lighting is always a conversation starter.

Very interesting. Robertmarcus is right. You never know when you'll decide to Eyefinity or a PLP setup. But I really like your idea.

This is a very clean and amazing setup. What I am talking about is quote below.

Very Nice

looks good but how strong is the top going to be with no suports running across it? I am not sure how strong MDF really is, but I have particle board and I have 3 2x4's running under mine for support(of course...I can stand on mine....)

I'm hoping it will be strong enough. I only plan to put speakers there or maybe a rack for my games. I'll have to do some tweaking when I start building if it needs more support.

Eyefinity would be nice. I'll have to think about it. I'm thinking I can always make the desk wider to fit 3 monitors.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll get started on this soon and update on progress.

Pretty sure he means the desk surface itself. Your pic doesn't seem to have anything supporting it other than at the edges.

Gonna replace the top monitor with a 3rd u2412m in the next month. Also just got a gtx 670 ftw to replace my 460 SLI setup. Probably going to grab a heatkiller block and another rad and add it to the WC loop.

My current work desk. I am a project manager for an exhibit company.

Fun items on my desk:
Leg Lamp from Christmas Story
Wacom Tablet

We were allowed to put quotes above our desks, so I picked one from Duck Tales

I was hoping for a life-size replica of the Christmas Story Lamp. "The soft glow of electric sex in the window......"

2012 Setup. My setup is on the left (corner desk ) and my boyfriends is on the right :D Sorry crappy cell pics.

Made it a wee bit further. Installed the corner section that sits between the two desks. That allowed me to use a mount similar to the other ones.

I Need an eyefinity card for the linux box. Unfortunately the ATI chipset on my motherboard for the linux box uses the legacy Linux driver and my add-on card uses the current drivers. Linux isn't real happy about that.

Long time Lurker, first time poster. I figured I would contribute to this thread with my setup.

this is just no place for noobs, its not out dated.

exactly, it takes 15 seconds at the most to resize pics, so if people are willing to take the effort to take the pics of their own setups then they can resize, and knowing how no nonsense Kyle is and his distrust for scripts and plugins, I srsly doubt they will do it, which is perfectly fine with me :)
