[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

So, I've been using this case like 2 years from now, and have seen some laks that, for example, the new vertically-rotated FT03-MINI has.

First of all I'd like to ask you, people that are really into case modifications if you would consider a front modification for this case. I've been thinking a little mod could end up really nice and would add some functionality:

The main idea would be to do some kind of mold of the actual plastic front plate and doing it with fiberglass.

The modifications would be adding some depth to the case (making the front more "thick"), so, as I'm using an H70, I can hide the fan i placed out of the case just after the new front plate and, probably, change it to a 140mm fan

Some other modifications would be in the case itself (steel part), like moving the mounting holes a bit to the right so, I can mount the H70 horizontally without touching the GPU. I know this will mess up with the front USB and jacks, but I'm not using them.

Hi guys if I want to use a antec 620/ h60 while maintaining the cd drive bay without the 3.5 bay (radiator flipped with tubes from the side) what's the max length gpu I can get in?

Depends where you mount the fan(s) and whether the GPU has connectors on the top or the end. The H60 rad is 28mm deep and 120mm fans are usually 25mm. As you can see from my sig, I managed to fit a 560Ti Phantom in my case. That's supposed to be 188mm long and the push-pull rad+fans should be 78mm. Although the interior of the Sg05 is 263mm, it fit fine with a few mm to spare. So I guess the GPU length includes the top lip of the expansion bracket.

Hmm I'm thinking of using a 7850 sapphire which is 8.27inches long... Has the power connector on the back. Anyone know if it'll fit?
Edit: is there anyway to mount two 2.5inch drives with a aio water cooling unit?

It will fit easily. You can put one 2.5 inch drive under the radiator, and one on the side, like this.

I measured about 8.5 inches from the back of the case to the H60 rad in a push/pull config.

Don't know how you figure that, since people can fit 10" cards in there no problem, with a radiator.

The 8.5" figure is between the back of the case and the back of the rad. The rad's orientation shouldn't change that figure, which however is of course only relevant when the rad is mounted horizontally.

Anyone has issues with the sg05 like not being able to get both sides to sit flush? Mines like that

You mean the outer shell? It has little brackets which hold it to the frame. If it doesn't sit flush, maybe some of the brackets have been bent out of shape. Check them all that they have at least 1mm space to slide onto the frame.

Got that fix. Then realised one of the front panel clip dropped off. Argh.

Does the Silverstone SG05-450 comes with an adapter for slim dvd drive? I have a spare laptop drive will it work? Also I yanked off the front bezel part of the slim drive, is there a faceplate that i can buy?

Nope no adapter.

For the guys above that were discussing it, with my Antec Kuhler H2O-620 mounted horizonally in the front I have precisely 236mm left for a graphics card. Bear in mind that if the PCIe connectors on said card are mounted on the back you will need to allow for that too - i've bought cards before and fallen foul of that.

With the rad mounted vertically the graphics card will clear the rad and you will get the full 265mm to play with. However you will lose the ODD bracket in this orientation.

Anyone figured out an easy and nice looking way to watercool the CPU, chipset and GPU in this little thing?

Didn't someone in this thread do that? Mounted the rad on the side or top I think. Buried deep in this thread somewhere. I could be wrong about that though.

Can I put 2 x 2.5" drives out of the box? I see they put it on the spec sheet as 1 x 3.5" and 1 x 2.5" drives.

Miahallen did it, but there is some heavy modding to fit everything. End result looks like a regular SG06, but inside it's all changed.

Meh for all the work involved for what seems like a mediocre OC result. And although I personally like most of the mods people show in the Bit-Tech forums, that case looks all jacked up (and not in a good way). Just because you can fit something in the case doesn't necessarily mean you should (my $.02).

There are some watercooled SG05 setups here -- is it really beneficial to watercool all three on a SB (or even IB board)? It seems you can get better results from concentrating on just the CPU and GPU, assuming the NB has a decent heatsink.

Not out of the box. You can purchase an adapter that will enable you to install two 2.5" laptop drives in the 3.5" cage. I've done that for a total of 3 - 2.5" drives, one SSD and two mechanical HDDs.

I have two ssd's in mine. One under my radiator, and one along side the non GPU side of the case.

Yeah I want it to look regular from the outside. And no the NB doesnt actually need to be WCed but its a nice little thought.

A little off topic but anyone done a comparison between a push only h80 and a push pull h60?

One fan is plenty to move the heat off the whole surface area off an h60. Having a push-pull means you can run both fans quietly and still get the maximum effect from the rad. I imagine the extra surface area of an h80 means that you'll have to run a single fan a bit faster and louder when you're using the CPU, but it would depend on how much you actually use the PC.

So if you want quiet then h60 push-pull, if you want better temps then h80. I suppose that's pretty obvious :)

Heh nevermind I got a h80 fit in with push pull :p

Got myself a sugo 05 finally after considering many cases. So far pretty happy with it :D. A few questions.

Is the top vent not completely flat ( ie there is a slight bump in the middle which looks like its part of the design)

Im using the stock intel cooler with i5 3450 and asrock z77e itx and the temperature is about 40-50 max on idle with onboard gpu. stock speed no oc. Is that ok? The fans are surprisingly quiet.

Also a question on cpu. I check with cpu id and it says my cpu is running at 1600 mhz is that normal? I thought its suppose to run at 3.1 ghz? Sorry im quite noob at this lol

Thanks

First part. Build quality is not constant with this cases...
Temps are ok.
it idles at 1600mhz but increases speed as your computer does more intensive tasks

Anyone know the largest AMD card that can be fit in here currently? I know some crazy 10" 680's have been fit. Just unsure as to what the largest Eyefinity capable card that has been put in it is.

There are two square areas in the top vent which are pressed down lower than the rest. If that is what you are talking about, that is part of the design.
