Corsair: 650D

I just bought mine a week ago and I am working on putting a Phobya 200mm rad w/push pull setup in front and a Black Ice GT Stealth 280 with twin Prolimatech 140mm aluminum Vortex fans on top. Pics and other details soon in another thread.

Can anyone clarify how the mesh panel goes on because the glass panel is screwed into the rubber/plastic frame, however, the mesh panel seems to install without the frame.

Also, can anyone confirm if the bitfenix spectre pro 230mm fans will mount w/o modification on the mesh panel?
Lastly, is the side demciflex mesh filter a good fit or is the size not quite right?

I installed my mesh panel without the frame, lined up the tabs in the holes on the case panel, and then bent the tabs down.

Did I miss something? Did Corsair ever offer the internal USB 3.0 header cables for the front panel of the 650D? Did not see them for sale at their website, is there a way to order them, have a new motherboard coming with USB 3.0 really don't want to run those huge cables that came with the case to the rear I/O of the mobo!:) Does Mr. Redbeard still drop in once in awhile?

I just wanted to post and say thanks to Corsair's customer service. Have to say that Corsair may not have the best quality products always (seems they still need to work on their manufacturing process), but they definitely have some of the best, if not best, customer service in this industry.

I also wanted to just state for folks that bought the mesh panel and were contemplating getting the Demciflex filter for the mesh panel, don't! It's a waste of money as the size is off and the filter basically just sits on top of the panel, rather than surrounding it, therefore it doesn't cover the whole thing. This is especially for my fellow Canadians as I don't believe you can get these filters anywhere in Canada and the shipping cost + customs really makes them expensive. Absolute waste of money, but oh well, live and learn.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Corsair for sending me a free mesh panel after I let them know of heat issues in my case.

I use my PC now as a Bitcoin mining Rig and after replacing the windowed panel with the Mesh and a 200MM fan my GPU temps dropped by 15 degrees

Huge improvement for airflow!:D

Sorry the pic, just took a quick snap. These are with the braided corsair cables that they just started to sell. I need to clean out some dust and re-arrange a few more wires this weekend still:

Here's mine as well. Sort of wished I got that AX1200 instead =)

After (Sorta looks the same):

Some very nice rigs in here, especially that one right above^^! I guess I'll post up my 650D rig as well. I love this case, although it will soon be going away in favor of something that can fit more radiators internally and an EATX board. I tried to get new pictures but my camera seems to be broken, the screen just shows green dots and it won't take any pictures.

Heres some that I do have though (I have no idea why the colors look so faded on the first one):

Didn't think I would evah find a chassis that would compete with my Corsair 650D, until now:

...just joking, hahaha, this is the wackiest stock case I have ever seen. Maybe if I was 15years old? Naw, I would still turn it down!;)

You should change the led in the res to green :) If thats a danger den monsoon, you can change the led with a module from DD.

The fan controller died on my 2 month old 650D today. I'm not too happy about having to ruin my nice cable management job pulling the thing out.

My case fan controller died recently as well. I read about it and apparently it happens a lot on this case. I ended up just buying a fan controller to put in the drive bay.

Mine just died as well. Im tired of this. I paid a lot for this. And I'm on my second fan controller heating up.

Well, I was able to get the H100 to fit using push pull in my 650d using the Asus P8Z68 deluxe and Gentle Typhoon AP-15 fans. Using the normal mounting holes in the top of the case there was not room for the 8pin connector to clear the lower fan. I was able to mount the H100 offcenter and further away from the mother board using holes in the grates on the top of the case. In the first one you can see where I mounted the H100. The 8pin clears pretty easily.

Interesting workaround on the radiator mount. No problems with increased noise or vibrations with the fans sitting right up against the top grill?

Any particular reason you have the PSU pulling case air, instead of through the bottom filter?

...I have to be envious of your unlocked Sapphire 6950s... I got one with the laser locked chip. Still a very fast card that OCs well, but the unlock would be a little extra fun.

Any of you guys with dead fan controllers, we'll gladly replace them.

Out of curiosity, what fans do you guys plug into it? Just the stock fans?

I'd be curious to know if there's some similarity (like if you're all using AP-15s or something).

Absolutely no issues with increased vibration or noise so far. The machine is super quite with the AP-15 fans.

I am trying the PSU both ways to see if it makes a difference in temps. I was concerned with having too much positive case pressure with every fan being intake except the rear one.

When mine went, I had the stock front 200mm, stock rear 120mm and the fans from the Gelid Icy Vision GPU cooler (draw 0.5 amps) connected to the fan controller.
Now I have the same 2 Corsair fans, but I now have a Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230mm connected to the controller which is mounted on the mesh panel.

My AP-15's are connected directly to the H100's fan controller.

Overall, I like the look of the 650D. But the quality for the price you pay isnt adding up.

the front fan hums even on low speeds (corsair controller). So I cut out the front grill, still hums. Then a month later the controller burns out. There are small paint chippings around the case. And then the front brushed panel seems to have color fading on it.

This case is $180 + 20 shipping on newegg right now.

For $200 come on! Even for the 150 that I paid. It looks nice, but jesus. I cant return mine because I made the cut on the front grill.

To fix the front fan, ill have to buy something else so about extra 20 bucks there, plus had to buy a fan controller, another 20 bucks average though I paid 30.

Its unfortunate that this happened. I really wish I waited for the 550D. Hell I would RMA this for a 500R if corsair would agree to it.

Im mostly irritated because after the fan controller died I had to take apart my zipties in the back to rewire everything and then my water cooling to take out the fan controller.

anyways, needed to vent lol.

Thanks guys.

Thanks,

These 7970's run hot and noisy so I decided to get a side mesh. Pics to show off and for people to see what these panels look with mesh.

I found a 120mm CM fan I had lying around that I remembered and decided to put it on the mesh to see if temps improve and see if it's ugly. Here is what I got:

Before:

After:

Kind of looks like the 8-pin cables melted and leaked gooey power lava onto the floor

To be honest, I actually like the look of the mesh vs the window for some reason. The selling point was the window when I bought it but with the mesh, it kind of pulls the whole look together because of the mesh grills the 650D has on the top and front. Gives it a more industrial kind of look.

Temperature wise, it's pretty much the same lol. I'm sure it helps 1-2c but that's about it. I don't know if I put 3 fans onto it if it would make a difference or not, but I don't think it helps that much.

Looks pretty snazzy. Although I would think that the mesh would interfere with the temps would it not?

I wish they offered a mesh panel without all the fan mounting holes. unless every single hole in that panel is punched in one stroke, it shouldn't be hard to manufacture panels without the fan mounting holes.

*Nevermind... Found some close up photos that answered my question.*

I just got this case last week to replace an 800D (long story), and also picked up a H100 to cool the processor. Additionally, I swapped out the three stock corsair fans (minus the 200mm front fan) with some GentleTyphoon 1850rpm fans, put them on the stock fan controller, and have it set to medium.

Is this a good idea? I'm asking because initially, I was reading about how the H100's fan controller was having issues, and now I'm seeing these notes about the 650D's fan controller having issues. After reading this, I ran a quick "tissue" test to see what the airflow was like for the two GT fans on the H100, and I noticed that one of them is barely pushing air through, while the other seems normal. The rear fan, due to no obstructions, is also pushing air through just fine.

Would it be better to just get a separate fan controller like the Sythe Kaze one?

I've been running two AP15s on the H100 controller since the cooler launched and I haven't had any issues as of it, maybe it's too early to tell, but I don't think we should have any problems.

Mine died with stock fans hooked up. I replaced the top fan with a white LED one, and I had two 120mm exhaust fans (one LED) in a push-pull setup on the back exhaust on a Corsair H60.

I added my own fan controller (managed to get a 3.5" bay fan controller into one of the internal HDD bay slots where my SSD was installed.)

I I had my fan controller had stock fans with one replaced with a blue led cooler master fan. It died a few months later.

recently got this case and found this forum when trying to decide what fans to use. i went with a bitfenix spectre pro 200mm for the front. two cougar cf-v14hb 140mm for the top. and gonna use two cougar cf-v12hb 120mm in push pull on my h60 radiator on the back.

please let me know if these are good decisions, i don't really know much about fans. just tried to get some that seemed like good ones that also looked good.

also, what do you guys do for cooling in sli? i am going to be getting a second gtx 580 superclocked once the prices are right. i ordered a backplate and highflow bracket for my current 580 to see if it makes a difference. i doubt it will make much of one, but if it gives me a few degrees i'll get em for the second as well. i've noticed a few people adding a fan at the end of the cards with zip ties, i'll have to consider that.
