First of all, if you guys haven't heard of this game you should check out this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4s2jdV7_dA

In my opinion it looks amazing. Loving the cube style and colors. I really liked Terraria because of the exploration and this seems to take it a step further. Looking at the creator's blog (http://wollay.blogspot.com), he is introducing all kinds of cool features. These include being able to edit/craft your weapons in the game to change stats and the look, pets, building structures, and tons of exploration. I haven't really seen anybody talking about this and I feel this deserves some attention.

5 seconds into the video, I was like "Zelda + Minecraft + Terreria"

edit. somebody in the youtube comments beat me to it.

Personally I'm getting tired of all of the voxel look clones. The style was neat in Minecraft because it was fresh, but now everybody wants to copy it. And unlike with cell shading, there really isn't a whole ton you can do stylistically to differentiate your game.

A couple months ago Notch tried to buy this guy out and make him an employee of Mojang, but he said No.

Looks cool, but it kinda seems like there is no real construction/potential for world creativity like in Minecraft. Environment seems to be destructible but I haven't seen anything suggesting you can build with the cubes.

House building is supported, according to his faq.

Yup, via blueprints and prebuilt pieces you can arrange into different architechture types, I think he said he was going to expand on more styles later.

That is something I hate about minecraft, nobody actually builds it in the game. People use 3rd party programs to build it real fast and easy, then just import it in.

I looked at the title of this thread, saw "looks amazing" (!) and watched the video. Looks like crap.

"looks amazing" doesn't necessarily mean graphics...

agreed.

It looks like a very good game, maybe no graphically, but I like voxel style, its a change from people trying to push too hard on graphics but skipping on story and gameplay.

looks like what minecraft could have been had notch actually spent some of his many millions actually investing in making the game better rather than just blowing off the community with slow and crap updates.

It looks really good actually.

I build 99% of stuff in game without any "3rd party program" or importing... Occasionally paint for some arch planning... As do all the people on Hardcraft! (look in the gaming section, just started a new server). :p

I'm talking about people that build crap like The Enterprise or Deathstar.

Ah okay, I guess I missed that. I pretty much just watched the video and skimmed the front page and didn't see it in there.

I dunno, though a bit slow Minecraft updates have been fairly substantial, IMO. I had stopped playing around 1.6 and just recently started getting into it again, and they've added a ton of content since then.

I agree they could focus more on scripting and AI rather than just adding more block types, but Minecraft isn't really meant to be what this game looks like it's going to be.

No kidding, just stupid characters running around in a stupid block world.

God kids are entertained easily these days. We have regressed back into the 8bit era.

As opposed to you being entertained by playing BF3 on console and the shiny rehashed ipad? Thanks for telling us which games to play. Any more infinite wisdom?

I was actually intrigued at the fact he made it all himself and its a neat dynamic voxel engine. Was curious about it more than the actual game since I think itd be a neat toy to generate random terrain given some inputs and see what the engine outputs and textures.

And everything really boils down to the same stupidness.. eg stupid virtual characters running around in a stupid virtual world. Or stupid characters using stupid guns to shoot stupid enemies...

:p But hey, I do enjoy this stupidness you so dislike so whatevers.

Reminds me of those annoying ass Lego video games. Hopefully they make it cooler than those.
