Well apparently menu issues with textures and shadow performance issues are being addressed and have been addressed on the 1.02 patch for the game. It's currently up and running on the beta test server. Oh and evidently the armors all use low resolution textures and this hasn't been addressed in any form and isn't adjustable via the settings in the menu. So the patch still doesn't address that problem.

So hopefully this will release in the near future.

I'm tired of my armor looking like the equivalent of a fake tuxedo shirt. It's rediculous, and I'm disappointed they havent addressed armor textures yet.

Yeah, I have to admit, it bothers me as well. Some armors look better than others. Some of them are just intolerable with low resolution textures.

I'll give it a shot.

Let me know if it works out or not.

On a similar note, a friend of mine had the same thing happen. Told him to build his machine as it's kind of simple, had performance issues,.found out he was using on board versus his 560.

Yup The Fatman.

I think there are more Sith on the server, whenever I play my SI alt in pvp I always end up playing against other Sith teams and the station seems more populated and has had more lag as well. Never had lag on the repub station. Could just be something with the zone tho.

But for the guild I usually notice more republic hard members on.

im on Saber of Exar Kun PVP east coast server thats where my guild ended up going. my Mains name is Rinzler lvl 50 marauder

btw huttball is fun atleast for me :p

Yeah I enjoy it to. I've only played it a few times with my lvl 20 sorcerer but I've always come out in the top spots for kills and damage. Might be because I just stand on the top and rain lightning down on whoever is near :)

I've also been one of the few sorcerers in the matches I've played. Never seen one on my team sometimes run into one on the other team but pretty rare.

thats odd because sorcs are very common on my server.

I see mostly Assasins. I'm seeing a few more sorcerers now though. I'm also starting to see more Sith Mauraders where as before I only saw Juggernaughts. I'm still seeing quite a few Bounty Hunters and Imperial Agents which I'm happy to see. On the Republic side I see a ton of Jedi of all types, tons of troopers but little love for the smuggler which I find odd to say the least.

Yeah I'm seeing less and less sorcs. I played a few rounds last night and maybe 3-4 sorcs per game. It seems to have leveled off a lot despite all the QQ.

I see almost zero scoundrels on my server, infact me and my friend are the only ones I've seen

How do you get anti aliasing to work in this game? There is no in game option and my nvidia profile shows the game as "wrc Fia world Rally 2011" wtf.

still, at such a low resolution and low settings being run by a hd6950. This should be a non issue

Whats the rest of the specs, I dont know how swtor runs but wow.was affeted just as much by your CPU and ram as the gpu. So if the CPU and ram arnt up to it an awsome gpu isnt going to make a big impact

I rarely ever saw sorcerers at any point. I saw tons of assasin's though. Initially that seemed to be the most numerous class by far followed by bounty hunters and Sith Warrior's. The latter are usually specialized out as Juggernaughts even today. Few are Mauraders but I'm seeing an increase in those as well.

Though compared to the Imperial Fleet, the Republic fleet base is a GHOST TOWN. There are never any players there. On the Imperial fleet it seems to bustle with player activity at almost all hours of the day. The slowest I'd ever seen was about 6AM and there were still a fair amount of people on. More than I've ever seen at the Republic fleet anyway. And on that side I saw mostly Republic Troopers and Jedi Consulars. Few Jedi Knights and ZERO smugglers. I saw a few on Ord Mantell but most were either not yet specialized or were Scoundrel's. Not Gunslingers.

And humans, Twi-Leks, and Sith Purebloods seem to round out the most numerous races. Most of the Twi-Leks I see are also female characters. I've also seen a bunch of those white / blue skinned people on the Imperial side. I've also noticed that there is a pretty good balance between male and female characters, if not more males. Typically in other MMOs, I saw more female than male characters. I also see more of the slim and medium body types than the muscular or the chunkier builds.

they need to open server transfers or something.. my server is an absolute ghost town. I haven't been on a planet yet that had more than 5 people other than coruscant or the republic fleet (which maxes out at like 25).

"light" -- I expect ~20 people

"solo" is what I have right now. I played through Quesh with not another person on it. Hoth had 1 other person the entire time. :|

sucks i regularly see 35-45 people on tatooine in the wee hours of the morning. You are ahead of the level curve probably though?

level 40

For shits and giggles I went to taris just to check out the population -- it was under 20.

Ilum had two level 12's in it and that was it

Either my server is completely dead, or no one plays republic at all.

So just a little rant.

Fuck huttball. Two games in a row getting stuck with lvl 50s on the opposing team that have full PVP gear and literally can't be killed by my team (two guys in this last match were 60-0). Meanwhile my team goes through about 15 people, all under level 40 and no jedis at all. That makes huttball impossible to win basically. And even harder to enjoy. I'll be dodging huttball everytime it comes up until they fix SI and IA or add level and valor brackets.

TLDR: fuck huttball

My server is heavy populated, even with goodies, (my alt trooper on good side), right now there are four instances of Taris at level 20 ish. The evil side is even more populated, but we typically have a five minute queue at prime time.

ps.. Joyu btw...

I have zero trouble dropping level 50's with pvp gear ..

Ya i play shadow hand republic and most areas are pretty good. Normally 20-60+ people on a planet at any time. Its nice, never have problems getting groups for anu heroic quests as im leveling.

Any one notice right now that one premade group of 4 lv 50's can dominate pvp. I keep getting into pvp matches with 4 guys from one guild and never lost a match when there in it.
I think they run 3 troopers (all vangaurds) and a consular for heal and they just dominate every match, its awsome. And amazingly i love the community in this game, everyones so friendly amd helpful. Everyone shares, havent had one group that rolls need on evrything even that group of 4 pvpers are very friendly and not elitist at all.

I've not tried PvP at all. Here is a question? Can you use PvP gear in the regular game if you have ever been or consistently have PvP enabled? On a PVE server? Or do you have to maintain alternate load outs?

Pvp gear seems to just be normal items bought with pvp money. Use it anywhere.

pvp gear works fine in pve, you might lose a little strength or what ever the main stat for oyur class is in exchange for some expertise which is the pvp stat but its not enough to really matter for pve. atleast not until your worried about enrage timers and if oyu have someone in your party slacking on dps

I wish my nephew's GF would leave and go back home. She took a week off work plus the Christmas time off to come and imprison him in the bedroom. I think he is sick of her at this point. I know I am as I can't level my characters as we agreed to get as many social points together as possible.

Poor guy escaped out of the house and walked a mile in the cold to get to my house to play some SWTOR this morning. He didn't drive as that would wake her up, and took the car keys so that she couldn't follow. 15 minutes after he gets here; ring, ring, ring, on the phone. He answers, looks pale in the face at me; then rushes to the window. She walked in the cold to come retrieve him!

These are the worst withdrawal symptoms I have ever experienced. I'm staring at two PC's sitting here idling away and can't play my mf'ing game. If he ever decides to marry this one I'm going to protest at the wedding! Maybe I'm wrong, but when is it that a guy can't have a darn hobby. Especially one that isn't destructive and you know where he is.

On a good note I convinced him to reroll Imperial finally. Bad thing is that I'm level 14 again. 29 Sith Inquisitor, 33 Jedi Consular, and now a 14 Bounty Hunter Mercenary. Bad thing is that my Jedi finally got enough tanking tools to make fights into a free flowing fun fest for me. Not sure if I want to level another tank from scratch so soon to abandoning the other one. But a tank that can vanish in the middle of a fight when the healer sucks is pretty epic. :)

The Bounty Hunter is so much fun! But I really don't get the Light / Dark side relationship with Bounty Hunters. Right now I'm 40/60 percentage wise in Light to Dark points. There's no way I'll get Dark V or Light V by the end of the game. I hope that doesn't gimp me gear wise.

Overall a very fun game. Just wish I could play more.

what a horribly stale game. so much dialogue too in an mmo just doesn't sit well with me at all. i wish i could either sell it or get my money back :(

I like the dialogue. It's not a rush to 50 game by any means though. And the intensive story lines that are played out through the intensive dialogue are what make the game "different" for me.

I actually want to know what happens next if I make this choice. And I like the fact that it's acted out in front of me when I make that decision. I've raced to 50, 85, 60, 75, etc so many times in MMO's to get to the fun part. The way it is in SWTOR I get to take a back seat and watch events play out according to my input.

But I can certainly understand someone getting sick of watching cutscenes. Sorry you don't like it. I wish EA / Bioware had done more open weekends like Rift did so that people could see exactly what they are purchasing well in advance. That would have been the best course of action in my opinion.

The problem is that they are utterly unnecessary for the sidequests that don't ling together with anything else in any meaningful way. Basically, if I don't have to enter a phase to talk to the quest giver, I don't listen to anything they say and just mash my spacebar. Even when I'm doing semi-interesting story quests I tend to read the subtitles faster than they speak the dialogue then just skip to the next part.

Well see the thing is that I really like the voice acting in the game. All MMO's are go here; kill this affairs. The voice acting in the scenes and then reading updates from the person that I didn't kill in my mail add to my immersion.

But I can see that if you could care less about a protagonist's expression or story line that you would just hit spacebar to move the game along. And there's nothing wrong with playing that way. When my nephew and I play we sometimes discuss the best course of action for a certain situation. And sometimes we try to make as quick a decision as possible and let whatever happens; happen.

But regardless I find the playstyle rewarding for now. Hopefully you're finding reading the dialogue fun too.

But your dialogue choice doesn't really seem to matter. Your actual participation in the story is pretty much limited to hitting the same hotkeys over and over while you kill 10 of this or 10 of that.

I'm just going to leave this here:

Our Terms of Service team recently took action against some accounts playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, and we wanted to give you some insight into what happened and why.

First, action was taken against a number of accounts for what's commonly known as 'gold farming' - or in our case, credit farming. These accounts were found to be exploiting the game in a variety of ways to maximize their credits in order to sell them to other players. Our Terms of Service team took action against these accounts and removed them permanently from the game.

Second, a smaller number of accounts were warned or temporarily suspended for exploiting loot containers on Ilum. To be completely clear, while players may choose to travel to Ilum earlier than the recommended level (40+) and may loot containers if they can get to them, in the cases of those customers that were warned or temporarily suspended, they were systematically and repeatedly looting containers in very high numbers resulting in the game economy becoming unbalanced.

None of these accounts were banned for their actions and no accounts have been banned for travelling to Ilum while still relatively low level. By comparison, the number of accounts that were warned or temporarily suspended was considerably lower than the number of accounts banned for 'credit farming'.

It's important to remember that our Terms of Service team is extremely careful and thorough in their investigation of any potential exploit or unusual activity in-game. Working closely with the development team and using extensive metrics based on player activity, they are able to determine what is normal player activity, what is unusual and what is exploiting. Our goal is always to ensure a fair game experience for all players while also protecting the rights of individuals, and if people are disrupting the play experience for others action will be taken.

While we will not discuss the details of any individual action, whenever we take action against an account we believe they have clearly broken our Terms of Service. Any action taken against an account can be appealed and in some cases actions have been rescinded.

While we understand people's concern about actions taken against accounts, please remember the Terms of Service team exists to help ensure a balanced and fair game experience for all. When you see reports of actions taken against someone's account, remember they are choosing to tell their version of the story - and there are two sides to every story.

In summary, our Terms of Service team took action against a number of accounts that were 'credit farming' to remove them permanently from the game. They also warned and temporarily suspended - but did not ban - a smaller number of accounts for activities on Ilum that were decided to be game exploits.

Some adjustments will be made to Ilum in the near future to discourage future exploits. However, the planet is still open to anyone who wishes to travel there.

The goal of the Star Wars: The Old Republic team is to maintain a service for our customers that is fun to play and equitable for everyone. Critical to this goal is making sure that gameplay is fair and reasonable and we are constantly on the lookout for anything that would prove to be a detriment to your gameplay experiences.

Thanks for reading, and we hope this gave you some insights.
