I'm soooooo torn on this lmao. after playing around with 3D on a CRT in interleved mode it just kinda got me started. I would assume frame sequential and side by side would look worlds better than what I am using now.

I love my CRT I have but man.... the size of it sucks, and I cant put my speakers near it! If I get this I have to sell off my 3x 23" Acers I have for eyefinity (which granted can be just as buggy as 3D setups at times, and a PITA to get working with some games). I'm still playing around with the CRT and shutter glasses to see if I like it better than eyefinity to warrant the tradeoffs.

So I know a lot of people have commented on the contrast and color and looks, but not too many coments on 3D in games and movies, anyone with to share thier thoughts? Other than TriDef Igniton being klunky

:p yeah yeah yeah I dont want to hear it lmao... what sucks is this damned interleved mode (CRT not the samsung in discussion)... it puts my display to interlaced, which dims the screen, then putting the glasses on dims the screen more....

Been playing around watching 3D clips on youtube and downloading the avatar trailer in 3D to see how it looks. The more I go on with my setup the more I am leaning toward this monitor.

I got my son hooked on it lol I had him playign half life two and it was toward the beginning when the trains are going by you, at one point he was on the tracks and heard the train coming and didnt see where it was, turned around and gor run down by the train in 3D which made him jump back roflmao

3D Train fail

What are the major differences between the technology in the VG278H and S27A750D? Which one looks best?

I have actually had the chance to try out the VG278H and I LOVED the feel of the response time. Made me feel as if I was in front of a CRT. Is the S27A750D the same in this regard? Why is the Samsung cheaper?

You're looking for the Samsung S23A750D ($400 @ Amazon), unless you really need the integrated TV tuner that comes with the T-series. Amazon is a fantastic company all around, return policy included. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase something like this from them. :)

Thanks. I got the model numbers confused. 120hz samsung not very forthcoming on BB's search engine. I plugged the proper model number in and it came up there as $399 , so sorry for the false report. It actually came down in price $50 or $60 bux, but I'd have to pay local tax. Still better than I had said.

I just installed the new geforce 290.36 beta drivers and my monitor no longer works. It seems they added support for new Benq displayport monitors and it messed up support for this monitor. When I went back to the older ones it starts working again.

It might be just because I have a laptop with dual cards (geforce 540m with intel hd 3000 graphics) but I don't have a desktop with displayport to test.

gave in and placed the order for the S23A750D today! It will be here friday.

did have a question for anyone that actually uses the 3D side reguarding YouTube 3D clips. Anyone know if this works straight from the youtube page or do you have to download the clip first then playback using tridef media player?

My daughter and son get on youtube a lot so figured it would be another use for them.

Got mine hooked up to my 570 today and this is absolutely nuts. I'm not sure if it's the 120hz or fast TN-panel, but my games are looking awesome compared to my 30" IPS.

Viewing angles aren't nearly as bad as they are on the crappy TNs we use at work either.

What IPS panel do you use, SkuLLy?

HP ZR30w and before that HP ZR24w and before that a Dell whatever 20" widescreen.

I suppose after all of these years I've just become used to the smearing/blur that was inherent with a slower IPS LCD. It wasn't distracting at all and I've performed just fine with it. It is, however, nuts to have the ZR30w next to this Samsung and note how much clearer movement is in a game like BF3. It's certainly a welcome change while playing FPSs.

I noticed on source games and vsync off, this monitor has some kind of stuttering effect especially when using sniper scope. But on bf3, it's silky smooth. Not sure if the source engine or the monitor. Other than that, this thing is a beauty.

IT's HERE! Hooray...too bad I'm stuck at work lmao

S23a750D

unboxed it at work to check things out and looks good so far. Glasses are pretty light, found replacement 5pack CR2025 batteries for .99 shipped so will stock up on those.

Tried to find a PC with displayport out on it here but not a single one does, so I'll have to wait to get home to test it all out.

If my local retailer lets me RMA my 950D, I think I'll get a DisplayPort GPU and get a 750. My 950 has really bad left corner light bleed, can see it pretty much all the time. Also have 2 stuck pixels that refuse to go away. Pretty disappointing.

Anyone having any artifacts during gameplay when using this monitor? I don't think it's my video card because when using my old hp monitor, I dont see any artifacts. The artifacts shows on the edges of the objects and even when watching videos on YouTube the artifacts appears. It's not a lot, but annoying the least.

I did get some odd artifacts last night, but they were showing up on the desktop too. I ended up reseating the mini DP to DP cable and it went away. I'll keep a close eye out though

I did remember seeing in one review though if you set the responce time in the menu to fastest it will cause artifacting, but setting it back to faster and back to fastest gets rid of them. to me in initial testing with PerPiXAn, for my eyes I liked the faster setting better anyway.

BTW The 3D on this monitor is phenomenal! Yes you still have the typical ghosting but going from a meh experience with a crt in interleved mode and edimensional glasses, to this was amazing.

I sent a request to amazon for replacement. I re-seated the DP cables and did the faster/fastest switch and still getting the artifacts.

I am using a DisplayPort cable that came with it. Thing is every now and then the monitor will go blank and a message pops up that says something along the lines of the monitor might not be running at optimal resolution/hz.

If I pull out the cable and put it back in I get picture again. If I turn off the monitor and back on again, I get picture. It wont do it for a while then. Happens a couple of times a night.

Do you think my issues are the cable or the monitor?

If it's the cable could someone suggest one of good quality and supports the latest standard and 120hz please?

Thanks all.

Hello Skully, as an owner of both a ZR30w and a S27A750D, which would you recommend for gaming? Do you see yourself only using the S750 for gaming from now on because of the 120Hz? How do the colors of the two compare? Is there a noticeable difference in picture quality between the two? I am trying to decide between these two monitors for my new gaming rig, I want 120Hz but I am worried about the 1080p resolution being inferior to the 2560x1600 and all the other advantages of a 30" IPS monitor..

Thanks!

I can honestly say that I haven't touched my 30" for games since I got the Samsung. BF3/Skyrim/Tribes:Ascend has all been exclusively on the Samsung. If you've got the hardware to drive it I don't see why you wouldn't want to game on a 120hz panel. It's a really smooth and enjoyable experience.

The colors aren't bad on the Samsung (they're quite vivid actually, really pop out at you) but I couldn't accurately compare it to my HP as my photo-nerd pal actually calibrated that beast. I can say that certain sites (the red bar on [H] forums, for example) look different on the Samsung than they do the HP. It doesn't look bad, but it makes me question if the other colors I'm seeing are really what I'm supposed to be seeing. If I didn't have the HP sitting next to the Samsung I wouldn't care about something like that in the least.

The screen real estate provided by a 30" is something I cannot do without. I (often) bring work home and I've found that I prefer to drown my eyes in code on the HP over the Samsung. Being able to have multiple non-overlapping windows open at the same time is a godsend as well.

I say get the HP and then buy a small 120hz LCD as well. :)

Hello, I just recently bought a Samsung S27A750D and am having quite a few issues with it. When it works it is great, but from time to time it will randomly distort to the point where everything looks pink and pixelated. It also turns off sometimes and tells me to run it in 1920 x 1080 even though it's at that resolution. any help would be really appreciated as I paid a ton of money for this monitor and really don't want to have to pay to return it. I've included a picture of what my monitor distorts to randomly. The only way I've found to fix this is to turn it off. However, a few times the issue has fixed itself on its own.

It seems to only affect the left side of the screen as well.

Just thought I'd post back in here. I bought a S27A950, and it was terrible, I went to my local retailer and we tested the other 4 panels that they had in stock, they were all suffering from dead pixels or horrible bottom right corner bleed. I ended up taking a S27A750D, and it's been nothing short of great. I don't miss my U3011 at ALL. 120Hz is an absolutely superior option for gaming, picture quality on this monitor is great, colours are made perfect after a bit of tuning.

Awesome purchase. Highly recommended!

Interesting since they are the same panel. Was thinking about getting the S27A950 since the price is currently about the same as the S27A750D at around $600. Now I'm not too sure.

You sure thats not driver related?

I have the 750 and I love it. I was toying with this or the Dell 2410 IPS for ages but in the end went for the Samsung.

Mine has 1 dead pixel and 'some' backlight bleed in bottom left and right. I coudl live with it as its hardly noticable but I have just contacted Samsung and they are coming to pick it up tomorrow to inspect, repair/replace.

I don't think it is? I tried it on my PS3 and still experienced the issue so that would indicate it's a hardware problem, correct?

Where do you live and how did you go about asking for them to come to pick it up? I contacted Samsung and they told me I'd have to ship it out to a repair center.

Is anyone having issues with odd artifacts when using the Fastest Response time? This only occurs when playing games and watching videos. i got my replacement and it's the same and it had 2 dead pixels. So I'm returning the replacement and keep the old one. The artifacts goes away when I use Faster Response and it works fine. Not sure if this is a driver issue or the panel itself or even the DP cables that came with.

Anybody manage to get 3D working? I've got it setup over display port to a 5870 and for the life of me can't get 3D working. Tridef or iZ3d.... :(

My 750D has started to exhibit an interesting quirk in which I completely lose my video signal. I get a message floating around the screen saying "Not optimal display settings, please use 1920x1080" or something along those lines. If I unplug the displayport cable and plug it back in my video signal comes back. This has happened with both my GTX570 (straight DP cable) and 6950 (mini-DP -> DP cable). Anyone else had this happen?

I'm also slightly annoyed that my windows are resized every time I wake the monitor up.

I've installed the Samsung monitor drivers in hopes that I will no longer get the "optimal display settings" error. I've also got another DP cable on order.

Outside of that I still feel that this is a fantastic gaming monitor.

This is a problem with most DP devices. DP sucks as it is a very weak and flaky signal. Just looking at that tiny connector and puny wire should tell you something. Mine do the same thing. No need to unplug DP cable, just turn screen off and back on.

I returned mine for artifacts when using the fastest response. It's bad on fast moving pictures. The artifacts are pretty bad. I'll try the S27A950D using the D-DVI and hopefully that's more stable than the DP.

I have three S27A750s in eyefinity and do not have ANY artifact problems. If you are playing in 3d mode make sure to set the response time to the slowest setting, if you are playin in 2d mode make sure you set the response time to "fastest." These monitors are the best gaming monitors that I have ever owned or used. They get my "Totally Fucking Awesome" award!

Doesn't seem much different than an HDMI cable to be honest. I was considering having Amazon replace this thing but if other people are having the exact same issue I guess I'll just deal haha.
