CoD: Modern Wafare 3 is Going FTW!

Sweeeet. I cant wait to get this game...

...when its less than $10 in the bargain bin.

BTW. People will pop a zit and buy COD just because its COD. Its not to say CODMW series is good or bad, its just the way it is.

I can take a Barney game put a CODMW label on it and people will still be convinced to buy it and outsell BF3.

I got to hand it to them, that's a pretty awesome commercial.

I laughed at that one, it was pretty damn good!

As for all this bickering about which is better, it sounds like the old Ford vs Chevy arguments. They're both good, just different, let's enjoy the differences.

I've been playing BF3 since it came out, and you know what? I'm not impressed. Yes, it's pretty, but the gameplay just isn't what I thought it would be. The single player is weak, and in the multiplayer you have to be part of a squad or you're done for. And what? No in game chat?

Also, enough with the lighting flares and sun in my eyes. I've got it, they have lighting effects down pat.

I consider myself a "mature" gamer. I've been playing Battlefield since 1942, and you know what? I still prefer COD.

With that being said, a lot of people prefer BF3. It's not wrong, it's just a different style of game...enjoy them both for what they are.

I agree on all accounts, although I like BF for the MP and COD for the SP. As far as I'm concerned BF3 is shipped as a broken game by not having and in-game voice chat system. And all the lens flares you'd think JJ Abrams designed the damn thing. Still, I'm having the most fun I've had in years playing a video game.

Activision has gone waaaaay over the top on advertising:

2012 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty MW3 edition

seriously?!??!

I was just gonna get the game for the singleplayer, not thrilled with getting owned by the latest generation of Counterstrike small map twitch-monkeys :p

huge bonus that I can wait for it to go on Steam special and pay a reasonable price :)

If I saw a car like that I'd probably be tempted to fuck with it.

I actually think that's kinda sharp. I'm planning on getting a jet ski soon and was looking for something to replace my VW to tow it with and was considering a jeep anyway. However, for $40K they can keep it.

The situation in that video made absolutely no sense. So it was right on par with MW ... :)

Sorry, but CoD has neither the fast paced movement of Quake nor the complex weapon handling of either CS or Quake. After MW1 CoD lost any sense of a skill curve.

/Agree'd 100%... it's sad that it's selling so well, I mean honestly... it's the EXACT SAME ****ing thing as COD MW1, MW2, Black Ops, yet it's going to outsell a major new hugely-upgraded incredibly-more-indepth-and-better game like BF3 with stale gameplay, positively ancient graphics, no vehicles, no destruction, pathetic performance for its visual level, tiny player counts, and utter shit for new maps. Le sigh!

Oh and just to add.... COD games always stay high-priced, as well... I got BF3 PC pre-ordered with the Limited karkand expansion included as well as two full other major games (dead space 2 and mass effect 2) for $45. Yet COD wants $60 for its outdated crap...

That's a hell of a deal. Where did you get it from?

and somehow its outscored BF3 in all the reviews. :D

Links? I haven't really looked, but I'm curious how/why COD would rank higher than BF3? I could see it being the case with BF3's SP being so "meh", but that's not what the game was really about though.

Just looking at metacritic/gamerankings.com compilations of scores. seems to be right around a 90 avg.

Actually Gamespy gave BF3 a .2 score higher than MW3. Also when you have an IP that has made a company well over a billion dollars, you make sure you to keep the reviews strong by shady methods.

yeah of course thats the only reason it is scoring high.

Ordered. I loved the original MW and Black Ops and the new modes sound fun. 14GB via steam... My Steam directory is 95 GB and total installed games is about 115 GB. Pretty crazy.

BF3 dropped the ball on the voice comms. Should have made it so everyone in a squad would automagically be able to talk to each other. THAT would have made the game a 10/10 for me. I'm still enjoying the hell out of it though.

I'll get MW3 when it gets discounted on steam just for the single player. I always enjoyed the singleplayer game over the multiplayer game on this series. Even though the graphics are getting dated, the story line action is usually pretty entertaining.

MW3 is popular in the same method FBook and iphones got popular..... not because its good or different (AT ALL, obviously, then the previous competition), but because they advertised and used product placements everywhere from TV commercials, to magazines, to radio ads.

My dad knows what MW3 is, and he can't even operate a fucking computer... honestly. We watched a commercial yesterday for BF3 or MW3 (which he just saw me play) -- he says, isnt that the game I just watched you play?

I'll grab it eventually during one of their sales. The Survival mode sounds like fun, basically a tower defense/FPS hybrid. Ars had a thing on this a while back:

Agreed on all accounts. The lack of voice comms in BF3 is indefensible. I can only hope they finish the game and patch it in. Until that happens as far as I'm concerned the game isn't finished.

It was a preorder thru origin :).

Noted. I'll have to look for those in the future.

Not only lots of $$$$ (they fired the founders of IW for a reason) but alot of bias. Remove the Call of Duty name and given it just another generic war game title and it wouldn't sell nearly as much nor would it be given as good reviews. The Modern Warfare brand has already been established and everyone will buy it just because of the name alone.

I think it was black ops they spent 50 million developing, then 200 million on "marketing" and bribing reviewers ;). So-called "professional" major review sites for games just hold no sway with me and haven't for many years, due to these kinds of practices.

Even your dad knows that MW3 is a rehash
