G.Skill 8gb [2x4gb] DDR3 Desktop Memory 1333 - $44.99 / 1600 - $59.99

Yup just bought two sets :)

Even though I don't have a system that supports DDR3...

Would the 1333mhz Ripjaws be ok to run in a small htpc 24/7 without the heatspreaders? I need to remove them because theres no enough clearence between RAM and BD drive (WEIRD PLACEMENT I KNOW)

Couldn't I just peel the heat spreaders off? Do these things get hot enough? My case does get proper airflow, it's just the position of the BluRay drive that sits pretty much flush with the RAM.

Great deal on some tight DDR3 1600!

goddamn newegg. This is the deal I have been waiting for for awhile... I just closed down my paypal because I got the stupid notice saying all my transactions were going to be delayed 21 days. FUCK. Gotta hope that cash hits the bank soon.

man, I was gonna hold out for another month or so but at that price it's so tempting.

yeah you could, and nah, proper air flow will be suffice.

Wooo picked up the 1333 set. Now I just need a mobo and cpu to get it running rofl

dang really wish I had the cash. I am building a new rig right now but I gotta wait till next payday before I can buy ram and a video card :(

Anyone wanna let me borrow some cash..

Good stuff, in for 2 sets of 1333mhz, 1 for the HTPC and 1 for future builds. Never had G. Skill, a Corsair fan myself but this is a hot deal.

Here's my dilemma: I am planning to upgrade my computer at Christmas and need to buy new RAM at some point. This memory looks almost perfect and dirt cheap, but I'm worried that it may become even cheaper at some time before December.

I haven't paid much attention to DDR3 memory prices, so I don't know whether they are expected to become cheaper. Do any of you guys see 8GB sets going for less than $45 in the near future? Has it already happened?

I doubt it will get much cheaper. These are worth it for the price. Snatch them up now. I have a feeling if you dont, you will regret it.

In for 16gb of 1600. Time to build a new system around this and the A70 cooler in my closet.

Its already been stated in at least 2-3 locations that memory prices are not going to decline much more. That they actually do expect prices to increase more than decrease over the next 6 months.

IOW, Buy now if you know you're going to use it.

Thanks for saving me a few bucks. I am using AMD but I'm sure it's the same concept all around. .

Actually, the results of the Anand's test may not be applicable to AMD cpus, as it says in the conclusion:
Of course, testing with Sandy Bridge doesn't necessarily say anything about other platforms. It's possible that AMD's Llano and Bulldozer platforms will benefit more from higher bandwidth and/or better latency memory, but we'll save that article for another day.

Will the 1333's work at 1600? Anyone had luck doing this?

I have a G.Skill 4GB 1333 set that's similar to the 8GB 1333 set linked, and I can get mine running at 1600. I went into my bios and manually set 1600MHz but I didn't have to set any timings, it automatically set 11-11-11-29-40. So, in a nutshell, they should work at 1600, but YMMV.

ugh....why did you do that to me, lol.

I'll keep doing some searching

Llano shows performance improvement with as much speed as you can give it thanks to the igp, for anything else there doesn't seem to be a big change.

Damn, my wife is going to kill me!!
I don't know whether to thank the OP or curse at him.

Oh well...16gb on the way.

Thanks Llama[style] & Newegg

Just bought an 2x4 1866 kit last week, but this almost makes me regret it. Almost.
