Since Quakecon is coming up this month, how about a little nostalgia? Quakecon 2003! Holy mother of [H], check out all the beige cases and CRTs.

Who cares about CRTs, it's Morgan that has my attention. Now I remember why I used to watch TechTV

Sorry no stories here, just have to say I hate Morgan Webb more than the word can describe. Just typing her name I had to puke a little.

Lol, seeing all those CRT monitors makes me cringe.
Well, that was back when a good LCD response time was 15ms. Most were pretty expensive too. I remember I bought my Dell 2001FP that Fall and it was $750 - on sale!

Anyone else notice the guy with the casket case was wearing a [H] hat?
I noticed that. Good publicity, lol.

Yay... my first ever Quakecon

Drank 77 bottles of bawls over 4 days

Almost got 86'd for sleeping in the BYOC and someone taking my pic... and it ended up on CNN.com

good times.

I still don't understand G4's logic ... lets buy out a station then destroy all of it's programming. It wasn't even a competing market for what G4 has on TV.

I miss TSS's and TechTV in general.

She said orgy. Omg give me a break, this is why girls have been slow to permeate the gaming realm. Fortunately more and more are!

Damned american events being in damned america! one day I'll get the monies and come hand yours to you in a [H] beige bag!

Yeah I loved the TSS, Call for Help and many of the other programs.

Damn you G4 for killing an awesome station.

Ahh TechTV, and ahhh, Quakecon, when it use to be good

Been going to QC since 2000, well, missed the last couple of years, but oh well, can't win em all, good times though, good times, I'll never forget the guy peeing on the floor next to my computer an my friends computer and almost blowing out the power strip

Bawls was a horrible drink. At the computer lan place we attempted to sell them, yea sure they gave you a massice influx of caffeine but the crash afterwards and the taste... ugh we had a hard time selling them after the first week.

I haven't had a beige case since... '98 or so? That one got painted quick, too.

TechTV was awesome! I remember actually bringing up a question in Call For Help, and they aired it. I believe it had something to do with how to tell whether a CD-ROM drive would read a CD-RW disc or not (hey, at the time, it wasn't a guarantee). :)

Never didi attend QuakeCon (or any LAN in the States).

It's sad that 90% of the CRT monitors in there still offer better image quality than any LCD.

We sacrificed image quality for size, and I regret that market decision greatly.

Thinking about it, yes they gave us awesome image quality, they also weight a TON, and they took up 99% of my desk space, it sucks but LCD's have alot of pro's to them

That's why i specified image quality in my post.

LCD's use less power, are lighter, and are thinner. They're also marginally sharper than CRT monitors in some scenarios.

Color Reproduction, Brightness, Contrast, Response Time, Refresh Rate, Not stuck with a native resolution, Viewing angles. CRT wins hands-down.

Been in attendance since 2002 and will be there on Wednesday! Looking forward to another GREAT year!

wow what a blast from the past! that casket case freaked out alot of people I think it was the last Quakecon at that venue too.. good times drinking with kyle :)

what a great clip...miss "old timey" X-play...like when it used to be entertaining

and I wanna go back to to those days. *wistful nostalgia*

*sigh*

Man Doom 3 was over-hyped.

Not the worst $50 I've ever spent, but I didn't really care for it.

So much CRT hate. I'll (probably) be the only guy there lugging around a CRT, and a 24" widescreen FW900 at that.

I wonder what, if anything, id is going to announce this year.
