Those of use who aluminum cases should take a look this information, someone should contact Lian Li and SilverStone about the potential fire risk, I hope this doesn't put them out of business, lol.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page, the response from “johnwhelan” is where it fun starts -

I AM RETURNING MY CASE RIGHT AWAY!

I smell class action lawsuits left and right!

How dare these people sell us bombs and market them as computer cases!

From looking at the rest of the responses he gave on hardware I'd say he either has way to much time on his hands to come up with this bull shit or he mis-placed his meds.

OMG so its not my 8800GTX's in sli making my case hot, but the case itself!?!?!?

Cute idea, but no, no one will be working with Liquid Oxygen for one very simple reason -- it's very very very combustible. A spark is enough to ignite it.

uh oh, i better keep my liquid oxygen away from my aluminum case! lol or maybe he was trying to say that good ole regular oxygen might react with not so pure aluminum computer cases? hahahaha great argument

Oxygen itself is not flammable. It does however, help other things burn extremely well.

Damn, can someone spare a cheap plastic case? Gotta get rid of my lian li now that I know it's a potential fire hazard...

Never know when liquid oxygen might find it's way over here :p

This thread is a joke and hilarious at best....

I have owned ....COUNTLESS aluminum cases... never seen one go up in flames ;)

That same silly warning can be applied to heat sinks or any other thing made of aluminum. I guess they are not pure aluminum though. I would not consider this even the slightest risk unless you have oxygen tanks right next to your pc.

I wonder if Boeing and other aircraft manufacturers know about this, maybe someone should tell them.
i cant believe they built all those jetliners without checking the interwebs first!

Fuck!! So this is why my computer burst into flames and ruined my term paper. I'll have to show my professor this and he will finally believe me!

/facepalm

Hey, I just got struck by lightning and at the same time a turd from a airplane hit me on the head while I was looking at my winning lottery ticket, but damn my case still hasn't exploded. WTF!

sorry-you-just-lost-the-game-700x560.jpg

“johnwhelan" dragged you down with him when he lost.

so i guess if you were wearing your aluminum foil hat your head could explode. i mean explode more than it normally would, without the hat.

Oh crap, I've been keeping Liquid oxygen next to my aluminum case all this time not knowing the lethality of the two ever meeting each other, thanks for the advise, I'm going to store more my O2 in the broom cupboard in future.

Damn, can someone spare a cheap plastic case?
Hello? Anyone home in between ears?
Guess what is basis of plastics: Hydrocarbons.
And in what hydrocarbons are good at: As fuel.

Besides pure oxygen environment makes pretty much everything combustible or reactive.
Heck, even oxy-acetylene cutting is basically just burning that iron/steel with oxygen after initial heating.

Actually aluminum is so reactive that even in normal atmosphere you don't have exposed surfaces of pure aluminum because of its fast oxidation which forms protective passive layer (unlike iron's rust) preventing further reactions so simply upping oxygen level wouldn't be enough.
(but metals have high thermal expansion coefficients so cold liquid oxygen might break away that passive layer)

lmao. I better keep my beer cans away from all that liquid oxygen in mah tool shed.

LOL, did you guys read that forum linked. DJT, you like to argue just for the sake of arguing don't you?

Jeezzzz, anyone who ever took a basic high school chemistry class could debunk this. Every time I don't think the level of stupidity can get worst, it does. Thank God, the intelligence level of all you [H]arders are far above this kinda crap!

No not “just for the sake of arguing” just when bull shit misconceptions start to spread, which in the case of that forum it's almost with every post.

Nobody here wanted to see you drag that crap onto [H].
We would all rather be ignorant of the shens going on outside of our little community.

I'll agree with you that it's “shens” but to be ignorant of what's outside “our little community” is exactly the reason why there's responses like the ones I linked to in that forum.
