MAG out today

But smooth netcode, vehicles, huge maps and 256 players at a time adds alot to gameplay. I enjoyed the beta with the 64 players. In a map with multiple objectives, lots of class and weapon variety and a shitload of players can be hella fun.

the FPS has been done to death, anyone who is waiting for something new or groundbreaking in a shooter is dreaming, its all been done before.

Ill get it when Im done with Mass Effect 2

And thus I say to the FPS genre: "Meh, no thanks". I'm sick of playing Doom iterations for 15+ years.

Oh that's right, everyone is different and likes different styles of game!!

How casual friendly is this game? Meaning how many hours roughly does it take to hit the core game? I'm REALLY intrested in getting this but hesitant as I can't really devote tons of time to it.
 
I only play a cpl hours a day and find leveling easy enough. I see people at lvl 40 already only 43 days after release, I'd say it works for casual or hardcore players and I should reach command rank pretty fast.

So because I don't like a genre of game that you do I don't know what I'm talking about. Riiiight. It isn't just your precious Mass Effect, it's the job lot, you can keep your Final Fantasy etc too tbh, utter drivel. Give me a fps/platformer/fighter/puzzler/driver any day.
 
TB, if it makes you feel better, I do think you know what you're talking about with regards to your preferences :). That says, I think you're INSANE, that ME1 was awesome and ME2 no doubt is as well. Also, FPS's eat dick, generally, and MAG doubly so :)

lol like I said earlier each to their own mate. It'd be a boring world if everyone liked exactly the same things. I mean look at the mindless zombies that play nothing but CoD......

Oh, I completely agree with you, it'd be a damn boring world if we all liked the same stuff. Also damn boring if we didn't take a little time to bash those who disagree with us periodically :D

Feel free not to like it. It's just obvious you haven't played it. ME2 is much more shooter than anything Final Fantasy.
 
so, how is this game? im really considering plopping down $300 for a PS3 and $60 for the game because i loved playing Planetside when that was out, how does this compare?

Planetside is still out. I just signed up for the trial again the other day to see what was going on. Got into a battle rather quickly too.
 
i only played to lvl3 last night, here are my thoughts

-the gameplay was fine,
-controls were a little tight
-graphics werent killzone/COD,but not bad by any means
-i liked how they have you progress through the different sized games rather than throw you into the big fights.
-the controls are odd, triangle is crouch...
-shooting sometimes works great, and sometimes feels like it takes a couple bullets too many.
-i like the numbered health vs recharging shield/health. Gives you a sense of mortality in the game , also gives the medic a purpose

ill add to the list if i can think of anymore. right now, im not 100% convinced its worth the 60$ price tag. but thats because my gametime was limited to like an hour.

You mean read that this is a thread about people who are grabbing mag and you are trolling it about how you hate FPS exactly how you trolled it in the beta thread? We get it you hate FPS, so just dont click right?


That being said, im not picking up MAG either, Beta wasnt bad, but im not convinced that this game is going to have legs based on what ive been reading, especially with MW2 so strong and BC2 right around the corner. If MAG gets very nice non-elitist community(socom) then i might check it out in a couple months.

I pretty much got a ps3 for this game after playing Planetside off and on over the years since open beta on. So far I have not been let down with MAG and if you enjoyed the early days of planetside you would probably get a kick out of this game as well. As to whether or not its worth dropping 360$ that calls going to be up to you.
 
I agree. not sure if this game is alone a system seller. there are other reasons to get a ps3 other than game playing
 
I ended up picking this one up on the weekend and I'm pretty impressed with it, playing a support role sporting the medic kit and the repair tool. I'm hoping more of my friends get on board and get it aswell, I bet a whole squad of friends would be a blast.
 
are the servers full? Avg amount of people you guys have been playing with on a server?
 
been considering grabbin this, but most of my friends that I game with arent interested. how are the classes?

servers range from 32v32 , 64vs64, and 128vs128

i just want to know how to view the entire team's score's and see them on the map
 
Not a big fps person, but I like this game. A good team makes this game really good. nothing like holding down a point with your squad while the enemy is trying to overrun it. well worth my money

well once you reach 60 you can switch to a diff faction and retain all your medals...

i cant find this game anywhere in my local shops. GAME etc werent expecting it to sell so well especially with bioshock 2 on tuesday. I Might have to have a run out to blockbuster...

The server are pretty much filled most of the times and I've been only playing late afternoons only so I imagine after 8pm there shouldn't be a problem finding a good full server.
 
Got the game this afternoon and have had a couple of hours on it....
WOW this is my kind of game, ive just lost my first 128 player match and im absolutely gob smacked at the stability of the games! There is 0 lag, the weapons are perfectly balanced (the shitty ones ive used so far anyway. Got some medic upgrades, it was a total surprise when i parachuted in! You need to read the instructions for the controls on this game as it can be confusing. This takes console fps games to another level imo and i haven't even been in a 256 player match yet!

Sure the graphics are above average but considering that you can have 256 players on screen at once its a hell of an achievement. You get straight into a game, teams are pretty much always balanced, load times are quick. I hope we have more 256 player game releases, Battlefield 1943 256 player would be awesome!!

Played for an hour tonight awsome game. Haven't had this much fum since tribes. It's not the prettiest but who stops to look at graphics when your being chased. By 5-6 guys lol.

Got the last copy at my local eb Thursday. Really diggin it so far, reminds me alot
of BFV. I plan on givin you a join request HaX, soon as I get to level 10 lol.

Anyone else find it funny that the cover of this game includes the following:

- Multiplayer Online Only
- Rated T for Teen
- Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB

How'd they get the Teen rating if its online only? :p
