New SFF gamers case: presentation and advices

Ditto this

Yes, the new power cables arrived yesterday. But we are waiting to ship them with the new HDD cage and the new front bezel, which will be tested this week for production.
I will post some partial pictures of the new front bezel tonight!

i put feet on mine the other day. I got my DFI P45 Jr issues sorted, got my CPU up to 3.3, swapped the older ST85F for the ST1000-P, and added the second XFX 5850, and flashed them both to MSI BIOS to use afterburner. Like buttah. All stock settings, no OC's 3dmark06 = 17k+

Isnt that 3dmark kinda low for 5850s? I got 13k with two 8800gts 512mb and a e6300 and that was a low score for my setup too.

i got 13k with a single 5850. haven't benched OC'd yet.. still finding card maxes

What feet did you use?

Hi everybody,

I'm mounting the new front bezel and taking shots today.
Here is one more shot of DA BOX in its bag.

I also hope to get the painted DA BOX.

Wow, to me that was an optical illusion for a little while. Thought Da Box was shaped differently but now I can see its just tilted. Haha, and that bag looks really good man!

Hi everybody,

We finally got the new front bezel. Here are a few pictures of it mounted on the case.
You'll notice that the edges join like it was supposed to.
The round edge around the button will make it easier to reach them while giving a little plus to the look.

The DA BOX with car paint finish is drying overnight. We'll mount the demo tomorrow and take some pictures the same day. That's if they have time to apply the clear coat the same day. I apologize for the delay.
PS: anybody interested in a General Lee version? There are in the process of getting one done, and they fought they might be able to get a DA BOX with the same theme.:p

Hahaha, honestly if it wasn't too much more and it looked good, I'd get a General Lee style DA Box.. (I assume it'd be a 1 of 1 type deal)...

I can never decide what I want though... =/

Matt,

If I order today, will I get the model with all the revisions? Or will you ship whatever is in stock now and send out the revised parts at a later time?

Tuan

Titan Fenrir coolers. If you're using one, you'll have to do a pull configuration. pushing from the RAM area to the rear exhaust won't work cause fan will get in the way of hdd cage. so you can to do a pull from GPU to side fan. The GPU intake fan will block the mounting of the push fan. i know this sounds confusing. i did my best.

Good morning all,

Aww no regular 5.25 bay?
Yes, in these particular pictures, it does not show the 5"1/4 opening. That is coming later this week for testing. It is there, it is planned, it will be available for purchase.

We are holding onto the shipments for now as we do not want you to have to change the parts yourself. We'll rather ship them with everything corrected. Unless of course you cannot wait, and then we'll ship you the new parts. But we'd rather not.

Yes, we are looking into 2options, that would both be ran.
One would be a bunch of extremely limited series (1, maybe two cases of the same style at once) here each series would have a specific theme.
The other would be a few series (18 cases each) that would have a specific car paint color finish applied to them, with the color being picked out in function of the demand.
What about a hot rod DABOX? :D

I love the longer power extension cable, my original never had that much slack. Can't wait to get those new parts and button here up.

I meant to ask this earlier, what is the darker area on the left side of the new front panel? Venting of some kind for the front intake or just a design element?

The darker area on the side is to mask the brand name of another company using this case.:p
But no worries, it just a photoshop add on.

Is it possible to have it just pure brushed aluminum ( not black ) with no side acrylic? ( basically skipping few manufacturing steps ) or do you guys have no direct control over the production cycle?

I'm basically looking for a brushed aluminum, all aluminum frame, not black no nonsense SFF itx portable powerhouse. Looks like SG07 will be quite a while away, with questionable looks at that. DFI 55 860 i7 and 5850 seems like an ideal combo right now, with almost no possible enclosures on the market.

Yes. You could get a brushed aluminum no anodizing if you'd like.
Sorry for the wait about the paint. We had to wait and take our time for the pictures.
There will be more to come on Monday with the 5.25" opening. Same color.

More to come next week.

Please, note that these pictures were taken with the prototype I had in hand (not the final version for the front bezel, which I will receive painted next week). It should be even better!

Really nice paint job! Any interest in having a shiny black one, preferably with a glossy piano style finish? (non-metallic. it's probably just me, but metallic is a little too much disco-stu for my taste)

Nice one!

A piano finish, black (solid color) would b very easy to do and probably cheaper.
So yes, it is very doable. We'll investigate.
Note: the car paint finish also mean it is pretty resistant, so you can use a bunch of things to keep it clean. Jex works very well. Finger prints come off easily. But like your car, don't use anything abrasive.

How deep is the red? In some photos it looks darker and more metallic, in a couple it looks bright red.

That may be a particularly good option for the mini-ITX case as well, as it would more closely match the abundance of piano and gloss back home theatre and hi-fi of the last many years.

so hang on a second, how come we have pictures of the car painted case (which was started after the face plate) and not the pictures of the new face plate?

sad panda.

It's coming, but the new faceplate samples are not treated yet. However, we will test fit it today and you'll see what it looks like in a silver, brushed aluminum, clear coat finish.

Beware of glossy black-piano style - i only say: FINGERPRINTS...

Those can be easily wiped off. Just keep your microfibre cloth within range. Honestly, I like the glossy piano finish style as it look way more classy... maybe it's just me, I don't mind preserving that look by cleaning it off every one in a while... (like my guitar or my HTS's control panel) totally worth it.

So @ Mattinv: Me want one, please!! ;)

Wow, very slick case. I'm wanting to relegate my ATX case to folding only and get a micro ATX case for my main rig, this case looks awesome! It seems somewhat compact, maybe about the same size as the SG01?

I'll be staying tuned. It's kinda between this or the Lian Li V351 (but those have some limitations on heat sinks so I'm liking this one more).

the 351 isnt a bad case, but i really think this is a LOT better (name aside, heh).

the only real competition this thing has would be, IMO, the qmicra by pcdlabs. but even then, its larger, and im not sure if it can handle the same length video cards....

neither case is bad mind you, just different.

ironically enough, i had my old lady test my PSU extension, and evidently one of the guys who isnt around to appreciate it, got a good one :-D. spare cable ftw?

Hi all,

Here is a picture of the new front bezel (with a 5.25") opening.
new_front_bezel4.jpg

(note: the black strip is to hide the logo of one of our client - nothing else:D)

We should have one red sample this coming Monday. So you'll get an idea of how it would match the last set of pictures.

Wow. Just stumbled upon this thread and Da Box maybe exactly what I'm looking for. Will it support a 190mm PSU like the Enermax Revolution 85+?

You must try to stick with 160mm and less if possible. You can up from there but you might have some issues. Anything longer than 170mm will truly not fit with long video cards.
Knowing that you will soon be able to find 160mm PSU that provide up to 1100W, and that this is a micro ATX case, I would think that you'll be fine whatever you decide to put in your case.;)

hey matt, when can we expect to receive the hdd cage/new front bezel/psu extension?

i got all my parts lying around (including a modded mobo tray) and am really excited to put this thing together..

also, once the new car painted cases are released, will we be able to purchase just the front bezel and top cover and just screw them onto the existing frame?
