Foxconn Employee Commits Suicide After iPhone Interrogations?

The message is clear you sign a contract to work for Foxconn, they own you. The people that work their are use to the Totalitarian way of life and don't think twice. Thats what censorship ultimately leads too.
 
He must have gone through hell and been quite unstable. Though I don't really know about the circumstances. Well it was his own choice to take that path.
 
Its a different mindset when you accept that you are a cog in a machine and aren't as concerned about yourself. In America we are all about ourselves. It makes it hard for us to understand his mindset. We consider ourselves very important. It is just a societal thing though.
 
Hmm, this is really an interesting story. I wonder what really happened. What if Sun or someone else really did steal the prototype iPhone and was trying to sell it to a competitor (Blackberry or Palm) for millions of dollars. The article never mentions that he was cleared of suspicion or that the iPhone was found. We could further thicken the plot by having unamed accomplices (maybe members of the security division) who in order to protect themselves "engineered" his suicide to shut him up. Damn I could do a whole movie with this plot. All I need now is to work into the plot some hot co-worker he was dating who wants to discover the truth of what really happened to Sun and bring justice to the parties responsible.

Wouldn't the iphone first have to have some awesome non off the shelf feature that someone actually cared about?
 
As someone who has experience with Apple prototypes, yes, they are very secretive. Lots of forms, disclosures, and only a certain list of people can access such hardware/software.

Not that I think Apple is to blame for this incident, though :\

Maybe this will be the first iPhone "to have some awesome non off the shelf feature that someone actually cared about". This is a never been seen prototype so feel free to speculate.

If I were the head of a federal law enforcement agency and someone (like in this instance) was pressured to kill himself over the stupid secrecy over a stupid product, all responsible parties would be on an anvil, and the companies would cease complete productivity until a full investigation was completed and those responsible would have their sentence. And I would force the companies to completely rework their "secrecy" and security policies. I wouldn't give two shits how much money they lose from it, because no amount of money or a damn cellphone is worth someone's life. Lose billions for all I care. Make them take responsibility for their actions.

Lol, this is funny, yet so sad at the same time because I know it's probably true.

I have family members that actually divide the fridge into 4 parts: one for the father, one for the mother, and two for the sons.
Nobody is allowed to eat from someone else portion, nor can they get more once it's over, so they have to make it last until the next shopping. The expensive meat only goes to the father, and the ice-cream to the mother, while the two sons get the regular cheap stuff like chicken and instantaneous soup. When guests comes over, they either have the option to offer them part of their food for the month, take a little from someone else portion and get in deep trouble, or just don't offer them anything at all. And of course, there's the occasional beating, but we normally leave before it gets too messy.:eek:

I mean, that just makes me sick. It's your family for gods sake, they're suppose to love each other. And I know it's not the money, because the mother and father go every weekend to the movies, and go in a expensive 2~4 weeks Cruise around the word each year. I mean, what kind of messed up family is that, do they even love their sons?:mad:

But seriously on another note.. Doesnt the totalitarianism and blind zeal of Apple employment mirror that of a Chinese production plant? I know I've read my fare share of news articles about Steve's tantrums, secrecy, general worker disrespect, and the prevalence of a spirit of dispensability in the Apple workplace. Is this not the Apple M.O. ?

So on top of Apple that means no more XBox 360, no more Dell, HP, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Sony Ericsson, Cisco, Nvidia cards, ATI cards, Intel motherboards, etc etc etc...

Good luck not buying anymore products made by Foxconn, they have their hands in a lot more than you realize. They are huge.

Its shitty what human rights violations Foxxcon and other companies like it can get away with due to their government and culture.

Like you said it's not just Foxconn, though. If you start boycotting companies that run factories with woking conditions like Foxconns you wont be buying many electronics. It's really our own fault that it's gotten to this point.

They're adults now, 20s, but they weren't before that. At least they work now, so they don't have to depend on their parents. I'm sure they're only living there until they have enough money to move out, the economy isn't too good to do that all of a sudden. This isn't really a problem now, it just used to be in the past.

I still remember when one of them was 16, and his father punched him just because he got a little bit loud while playing Monopoly. I mean, It's a freaking game for gods sake, people go through emotions, but that's normal. Heck, I myself sometimes curse when playing online, since it's within the realm of normal, but I obviously don't really mean it. However, that's not even what he did, he just answered back like 10db higher than normal, big deal. To me, that's not enough reason to hurt your own son, it was like:

Mom: "I'm gonna win Monopoly, you have no money left, haha!"
Son: "SHUT UP! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE HOUSES LEFT"
Mom: "What did you just said?" "HUNNNY!!!!!"
Son: "Well, I'm just saying she's not going to win"
Dad: "How dare you shut your mother up? *walks up*
Son "Wait..."
Dad: "Come here you prick!" *punch*
Son: "No please..."
Dad: "Go to you room, and close the door!"

I don't know, maybe I'm exaggerating things. I have been raised in a 100% open minded, 0% violence family, quite the opposite of theirs. Pain or psychological distress only teaches 2 things, and both defeat the purpose of the abuse:
1) It teaches you to make the offender happy, by fear, and not necessarily because is the right thing to do.
2) The lessor learned is actually that you should find a way to kill them, before they kill you.

We don't have to be rock scientists to realize that in their sons mind, none of them see their parents as people they admire or look up to as a role model. That on itself should be the saddest single thing for a parent, unless they are as selfish as them. My family is quite the opposite, I'd give my life for them in a heartbeat.
 
Still sounds like a normal Objectivist or Libertarian family to me.

Children should know they are parasites, looters and moochers.
