Hello all,

Just picked up a 360 and really have not played anything since counter strike on the PC.

would like to know of any good game recomendations, and any deals any of you may

have.

Again I have not played anything since CS on PC,

Prefer FPS, but open to any suggestions, only game i have played is Indiana Jones Lego that came with 360.

Thanks

You could do worse than going here: http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html?site=xbox360&cat=0&year=0&numrev=0&sort=0&letter=&search= and changing the categories to suit what you like.

My instant recommendations would be Gears of War 1/2, Halo 3, PGR4, Burnout Paradise, Fable 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, GTA IV, Bioshock, Dead Space, Orange Box.

There's obviously a ton beyond that. A few of those have demos, and also XBL Arcade is worth a look as there's some fantastic titles in there like Braid, Geometry Wars 2, Rez HD, Castle Crashers.

Are you looking for single player or multiplayer?

If you're a CS fan you might want to start with Halo 3 and CoD 4 Modern Warfare.

Bioshock
Crackdown
Fable 2
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Halo 3
Rainbow Six Vegas (1 and/or 2)
The Orange Box

A lot of the games I listed can be found pretty cheap. I think The Orange Box is like 20 bucks or less and is basically 5 games! If you have your 360 hooked up to the internet check out the marketplace for demos too. Some of the games we've listed you can try out first, to see if you like them. Be sure to check out the Live Arcade too. You can download trial versions of XBLA games and if you like them purchase the full versions. There's a lot to pick from, but here's some of my favs:

Aegis Wing (free!)
Braid
Carcassonne
Castle Crashers
Geometry Wars (1 or 2)
Peggle
Uno (or Uno Rush)

Deadspace, Ninja Gaiden 2, Resident Evil 5, R Type Dimensions (XBL).

+1 on Castle Crashers (XBL).

Mass Effect
Dead Rising
Crackdown

I would highly recommend starting with CoD 4. It's got an awesome, intense (albeit scripted in a lot of places) single player campaign and is a pretty good graphics and audio showcase on top of great, varied gameplay. It's relatively short, though.

Some other great ones, some available now at a discount:
Both Gears of War games
GTA IV
Bioshock
Forza Motorsport 2
The Darkness
(and my favorite game of the generation so far) Mass Effect

Im confused. Why would you buy a GAME system not knowing what games you want.

Maybe he wanted lego indy? :p

But there's any number of reasons, mostly because games consoles do so much more than just playing games these days.

My favorite 360 games so far are Gears of War 2, Fable 2, and Resident Evil 5. I'm not a resident evil fan and haven't played any of the other ones ( aside from a few mins here and there) but I loved Resident Evil 5. The co-op ability on all of these games is also very fun too. I play them all with my GF and we have a blast.

NHL 09 (though it may be worth it to wait for NHL 10 - but NHL 09 is by far the best sports game I have ever, played... ever)

I'll second this, still plaiying it online and will continue until the new one comes out.

.and for the most basic concept of all "to try it" reason why people do alot of things.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it.

Looks like the first couple of games will be
Gears of War I & II
Bioshock
COD 4

Crackdown
COD4 : Modern Warfare
Gears of War 1/2
Mass Effect
Halo 3
Bioshock
Shadowrun (new its like $20, used $12). This plays like Counter Strike, but with 4 races, and is cross platform so 360 gamers can play against PC gamers. Active community.

Most of mine have already been suggested... but here they are anyway.

Mass Effect
Halo 3
Gears of War 1/2
Grand Theft Auto 4
Devil May Cry 4
Call of Duty 4
Bioshock

XBLA:
Castle Crashers
Braid
Ikaruga
Rez
Omega Five

Surprised no one mentioned fallout 3. Great game, but you might want to wait for the greatest hits version which will include all the DLC.

Good time to be a new console owner, lots of great games. Try tomb raider underworld.

I agree with alot of these recommendations. If you want a good FPS... you HAVE to go with Call of Duty 4, possibly World at War. Also Rainbow Six Vegas 2. If you want to expand out to other genres, you absolutely have to play Fallout 3, Fable 2, Street Fighter 4, GTA IV.

Plus I always recommend Oblivion... you can get it for $20 and I still think its the best game Ive ever played.

do you still have a PC? because if so, some of the games you might want to buy for it. before i get flamed let me say that i love my 360, but if he's looking for non-shooters or whatever it matters.

anyhow some suggest fallout3 but personally i think it'd be more suited for a PC, given the available free mod content available.

if you don't buy mass effect i might be forced to hunt you down and kill you though...it's 20 dollars new, that's a friggin steal

Rockband 2.

I never thought I'd have as much fun playing a fake, plastic guitar and rubber drums, but the game is a blast and I've spent more time playing it than any other game on my 360.

It's just as much fun solo as it is multiplayer. You can make stand-ins for all the instruments so when you play solo, you have all your band memebers present for the other 3 positions.

Yeah, I've found that too. Not always in the mood to play fake roadie to my fake band to get things up and running (lots of instruments to drag out and set up), but when we do it's lots of fun after a few drinks.

Games that I have played that are FPS type that I recommend:

Gears of War
Bioshock
Crackdown

Lego Star Wars:Original Trilogy has been fun and humoruous

Kameo
Tombraider Anniversary
Tombraider Legends

..have been fun adventure/puzzle games

If you have a good gaming PC, you should skip most of the shooters recommendations since most of the good ones (Orange Box, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, R6 vegas, Fallout3 etc) are also out/better on pc.

Some good 360 exclusives: Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Resident Evil 5 (coming to PC?), Crackdown.
