That's a nice setup, there! I like how you have the matching desk accessories with the desk - That's the Staples Z-Line collection L-Desk and Bookshelf, right?

It's awesome, just clean up the cables a little bit

Yeah - cable management can be a bit tough when you have those types of desks. I have the Z-Line desk with the attached bookshelf and it doesn't hide wires, I'll say that much. I had to shove a subwoofer near my wires to keep them "hidden" - I put it in quotes because they are still noticeable, and I feel like its a jungle whenever I look behind my computer tower, haha

Riveninside, look at all those orbs - collections of energy in your room, you must have a lot of electrical items in there, or an area where there's a lot of electrical current.

Anyhow, i'm not laughing because i'm sure being over 6 feet tall isn't easy! :D

Collections of energy? lol

It's simply glare on the lens, or a dirty lens; I'm quite sure its not a collection of energy. :p

i happen to like my CRT lol never been a fan of LCDs really

and i was just giving ya'll crap, laugh all you want, it's shhizzy lol

Here's my office setup.. just a note... it's not a typical office setup for a guy in my line of work.. I'm a pastor..

First off, sorry for the poor photo quality.. I just used my iPhone to take the pic.. I''ve got a nikon.. but it was just easier to use the iPhone..

The desk is the Mikael from Ikea.. except I built a riser for it so I could have my keyboard on the desk. Originally I just had the keyboard on the desk, and the monitor and stuff behind it, but I had no space to work on the desk, so I built this little riser (took all of 10 minutes) so now I have space on my desk to work, and I can have the keyboard there as well.

The macbook monitor is really only used for iTunes and chat, movies.. just whatever isnt an essential thing to be working on.. I use the dell for all the main work.

Computer - 13" MacBook 1.83
Monitor - 19" Dell
Speakers - M-Audio Studio Pro 3
Audio Interface - Line 6 Toneport UX 8
250gb External (on the right)
LG DVD Burner (on the right)
Second LG DVD Burner (on the speaker.. with Lightscribe)
2 Portable External HD's on the UX8 (for photography)
Blue Snowball USB Mic (used for Skype, and for mini recordings.. laying down an idea)
M-Audio Keystation 88es Keyboard
Rocketfish Bluetooth Mouse
Bobble Head Jesus hangs out with me everyday
iPhone usually sits on the UX 8.. but I used it to take this photo
Fuel from Amazing Coffee (on the right)

Please note that you can only see 3 wires in this setup. I am a wire hiding nut.. I HATE wires.. they are all tied and stacked neatly behind the white board that holds the desk together.. all you see is the power bar chord, and the cable for my sustain pedal and the macbooks power cable.

Alright, I will ask... what does a pastor really work on with that system..

does your choir have some insane beats?

we do use beats and such... but its mostly because I'm a musician, and many times, i've been sitting at my desk, and I get inspired for a tune..and theres nothing around to play.. so now.. I always have something.. garageband is pretty much always opened, so I can just play and record when need be... also, as a part of my ministry to the youth, I run a recording studio.. lots of young aspiring musicians around here.. they just dont have the funds to get into a recording studio, and they dont have the know how to record themselves. so, they call me up, and we lay down the tracks..

its a lot of fun!

Yes, you are correct. The bookshelf is separate and not connected, just sitting beside the desk.

Cable management is something I need to get around to. I need to pick up some velcro wraps to hold up some of the cables but some of the cables are hard to deal with because they aren't long enough etc. Maybe someday I'll have an updated pic with fewer wires showing haha.

Power cables are the biggest issue because there's really no good place to put the power bars so that all power cables reach (hence the central location under the desk and not tucked behind my UPS) or those old computers under the desk on the right.

You should attach it to the underside of your desk if you can. then it becomes much cleaner. I'll take some more pictures of my setup soon so you can see what real clean wiring is like. Not a single wire is touching the ground!

Excuse wires, from way back across room, I hardly see them :)

no protector, just stitching in the leather for design. I thought the same thing when this desk first caught my eye. The leather and cherry wood and metal (very heavy) legs allows for multiple fits depending on taste.

I could never sit on one of those for a long period of time. Sometimes you want to just relax and curl up in a nice chair and surf [H], can't do that with a ball.

Yeah I have an old pine chair in the other corner I often use. I really want a decent office chair, but I'm going to wait until I move into a new place in September before I buy one.

This is my latest setup. I got a new CoolerMaster case and moved my rig from the stand on the right of the desk to underneath the desk. Much more room now! And a little quieter.

Picked up a second Jerker last night. I'll use this one for all my tinkering, soldering, etc. I need to buy a piece of aluminum sheet for the top to protect it.

Where are you guys still finding Jerker desks? I've wanted a black one for ages...

Only a few things different, but it's been months since my last update.

I think i've already answered the question myself.. but want to be sure..

the monitors.. are they running extended from the iBook? if they are how are you getting 3 different screens.. macs only have 1 monitor out.. OR is one of the monitors hooked into that PC on the floor??

my guess is its the latter... but I just wanted to check, because I have a few flat screens sitting around.. I can split my signal, but it would be pointless, because it would just be 3 monitors, but only 2 different pictures..

Hijacker, very nice setup. Where did you purchase that small Dell micro-tower (I believe that's what they call it), because I've mainly see people in the medical profession, and doctors themselves, use them.

I was wondering the same thing. I'd love to get one, and dump WHS on it, and have a small server that doesnt use hardly an power, nor take any space. haha

Both monitors run off the desktop on the floor. I pull the laptop forward & use Synergy if I need to use something on it.

Is that the galant series desk, if so what componets did you use to make it .

:large corner section ?
:two round sides ?

Thanks,

Got the SX270 from a company that went out of business. Luckly. i got the hard drive, cdr & powercord with it. Most of them get stripped before you can get your hands on them
