Street Fighter IV PC

Yeah you really should have the 3x3 button config which most controllers currently don't have. If you're a button masher that doesn't want to learn the moves and play right ( and probably uses the analog pad to play on; facepalm) then they're ok. I MUST have a joystick for this beast. :D

Y'all can keep your Joysticks. I'll take a PS3 controller over Joystick and 360 controller any day.

Except SF uses 6 attack buttons which all get equal use. So good luck with those shoulder buttons when trying to do a combo.

But I won't play it, can't stand today's newfangled arcades with the stupid "pay for play" cards. If I can't get tokens or drop coins in the slot, fuck 'em...
Considering how much games cost these days, fuck the token and quarter arcades. You are getting ass raped at the arcades that only take quarters and tokens, you can either buy a 1 hour card for 10 bucks or pay $1 per 2 minute game with quarters. I wont step foot in a "traditional" arcade anymore simply because Im out 5 bucks in like 10 minutes, which sucks for me since thats all they have here.

When I was in elementary school, and addicted to this game, I always figured Street Fighter 15 Turbo extreme Chun Li nude edition would be out around now. Never figured it would take 15+ years to come up with a reasonable successor to SF2.

Whoa wait 15 years? There was the Alpha series, which in my opinion was more fun to play than SFII and then SFIII came out, which yes was somewhat different. This just looks the most promising transition to 3D for the Street Fighter game even through it has been done before in conjunction with Arika.

I was playing the PS3 version today and it seemed to have a lot of jaggies. This might be a game worth getting for the PC just for the possibility of AA.

I played it at GameStop on their kiosk (PS3 w/Sony LCD) and it looked really jaggy but when I play it at home on my 360 and Sharp 52" it looks smooth (and I'm quite confident of my TV setup/adjustment skills, heh).

I wasn't sure if this was a PS3 issue or just how the LCD was setup at the store. Did you play it at a kiosk also?

The PS3 doesnt run with 2x AA like the 360 does, it looks exactly like the arcade version though.

Since I don't frequent arcades anymore, I was surprised to find out (last week, even) that SFIV had been in the arcades for quite some time. Makes me think perhaps I should drop into GameWorks sometime when I'm down on the Strip and take a peek, surely they'll have it.

It might have changed, but last I heard SF4 arcade was only released in Asia.
I think a few places have imported it, but it's not a common game.

I agree with what's been said about the graphics. I think the game looks good, but the arcade hw isn't even close to state of the art. Pentium 4 with a 7900GS IIRC. It'd be nice to see a SF game launch with the next gen consoles next go around.

I think the graphics are well done, especially during the actual match. The PS3, like the arcade, has zero AA but IMO it's really nitpicky to say it has "a lot of jaggies". You want to play a fighting game with a lot of jaggies, play the first not the evo release, of VF4 on PS2. The jaggies in that game made your eyes bleed.

I notice a little aliasing on some stages, but it's pretty unoffensive as far as aliasing goes.

I've changed my mind about d-pads and this game. You really need a dedicated controller (specialized pad or joystick) if you expect to reach the higher levels of competition.

Against the best players you have to be able to nail a super or ultra consistently on the first time. Chun Li, Blank, Honda and others all need a (+2)back>forward>back>forward + multiple button motion which I find to be nearly impossible to do without getting lucky.

I wonder if it'll be a good port.
The arcade version runs on a WinXP-based PC. The only thing that probably keeps people from running the game on any ol' PC is security features. It'll be exactly like the arcade version when it's released to PC.

Yeah, at EB games. Not sure of the model or size, but it was an Acer LCD HDTV.

So it's out, and I am a very happy Ken :) Great game, bar a few realy annoying problems...

1. None of the movies play! No intro, or character profiles or endings or credits and I cannot figure out why. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled (legit copy btw), and still no videos.

2. FPS is stuck at 60fps! I have checked all ingame settings are correct, and Vsync is off in both the game, and on my ATI 4870 CCC. It's a solid 60, so I know its set somewhere....my pc specs more than cope with this game.

Anyone else have any issues, or is it just me?

My Live arcade is HDsparton.

Thanks!

You do know the game is MEANT to be played at 60fps right? Anything higher is rubbish.

Each characters intro movie is played and unlocked in Arcade mode, are you in arcade mode?

Wow. They didn't need to make the AI such DICKS. This just brought back horrible memories of playing Mortal Kombat and such with my little brother. As soon as I get three or four opponents into the ladder the characters start spamming one dirty low attack or backflip or something.

It's still fun enough, but why would you design your AI to play like a nine year-old boy on any setting but "easiest"? I'm not a hardcore enough g4m3r to learn each character's combinations, I just want a laugh for half an hour. :(

Yeah AI spams a lot of cheap moves over and over. The title screen music is some terrible R&B type song. Ugh.

Other than that the game is pretty fun, and I can't wait to BUY it along with a nice joystick. Maybe the Madcatz Tourn Edition. :D

I got it from game...it was out everywhere on the 3rd...except for download (ie: steam) which is not till the 7th. So, I guess no one has the same problems as me then...please report when you get the game, so I know if im alone or not...someone on xp64 would be ace.

Ta.

anything higher is rubbish? Admittedly there is argument on whether we can see the difference past 60 fps - and it does run fine...but for the same reason I bought a fast pc and expensive GPU, and the same reason i play CSS with 240 fps - - it makes me happy.

Vsync off and forces 60fps is a bug. Else why have the option there atall.

I hear they will be forcing 60fps on all online matches however - otherwise one player with less is moving slower across the screen XD

still some bugs for you too look forward too it seems. Still hasnt realy dampended my enjoyment so far :)

Juarez-Mart has it in stock, not sure about the B&Ms around here though.

I just downloaded the pre-install from Steam yesterday and it doesn't activate until the 7th unfortunately but that's only about 2.5 days away so no biggie. I also got CoJ BiB and that's actually pretty fun. It reminds me a lot of Call of Duty Not So Modern Warefare.

Playing right now with a 360 controller. This game is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS at 1920/maxed/ink mode.

Probably the most beautiful game I've ever played. That includes Crysis and Arma 2.......god I'm in love. Capcom KNOWS how to freaking port to PC.

x2, really enjoying it as well

Anyone who is getting this/ will: Post your GFWL here and maybe we can spar sometime.

You do know the game is running at 60fps? Anything higher the game does not run the way it's supposed to be. The frames will be too fast, anything below 60, the game will run too slow. The arcade is a bit different than the consoles by maybe 1 or 2 frames, I think it might be running at 60-62fps, whereas the consoles are at 60. Anything above that range and it is not the same game. There is a reason for frame data for these games because its pretty much universal for everyone to learn from, you know? It's common knowledge within the fighting game community.

aside - Oh btw, the game isn't that hard, I can beat it on hardest mode.. you just need some practice.

Street Fighter IV is a great game. I can easily see myself putting in over 100 hours playing this game just offline practicing and playing through all the modes and unlocking the extra characters. Hopefully by the end of this year I will have a fight stick but for now I will use the official fightpad that I preordered the game with.

Oh ok that makes sense. I've heard that in past about certain 2D games but was wondering if it applied to SF4 and why.

I am a huge SF2 fan and I have never in my life played Street Fighter 4, so i wonder how blown away I will be when I hook up the Tournament Edition stick on Tuesday!

You will be more than blown away. The game brings back a lot of good memories

thanks for clearing that up, I was wracking my brains trying to figure out what was sticking it at 60fps. Makes sense.

I'm in the UK by the way, and it was released for purchase on the 3rd, and the 7th from Steam.

All good things your hearing are spot on - it feels like a real classic street fighter game, with more than enough added to keep it up to date. The graphics are goreous, and its addictive as hell. I spent hours just pulling off combos in training with Ken - a real sense of satisfaction and skill with a 12hit combo :)

So - - Anyone who has it on pc already, I unlock videos, I go to the gallery to watch it and it does not play. Even the end credits and Arcade ending, just does not run...

Any ideas?

Refraxion is correct. Normal games are built on "animations with respect to time" - however fighting games are built on "animations with respect to frames". Due to the game being based on frames it results in abnormal behaviour whenever the frame count per second is not met - one of those being the slowdown in multiplayer when the host has less than 60 FPS.

The character's moves/animations/counters etc etc basically the entire gameplay in fighting games are all frame based, if you check the competitive fighter websites they tell you how many frames each move needs etc.

As for the game I'm having a blast - brings back memories of good times. Bought it retail cause I would have been pissed waiting 5 days for Steam to unlock it. Beat the single player campaign on all difficulties, and played about 100 ranked matches online so far. Been using a 360 controller. While its obviously not the best controller for the game, most of my moves registered just fine, didn't have any trouble with it whatsoever.

I'd say the 360 controller is fine for anyone whose playing this game casually - though if you are going to be playing it more seriously/competitively then yeah get a better pad.

Why is the 360 controller not good for this game? I'm curious.

Analog sticks on pads aren't very good for the Shryoukens and the half circle motions and the buttons arent in an ideal position. Just moving from a pad to a stick boosted my game 100% on a lot of the fighting games I play on mame.

I mean its playable with a pad, but you'll find yourself getting frustrated when the move you thought you pulled off didn't register.
