Street Fighter IV PC

God I hope so, just watched the video on amazon.com looks amazing o_o

The high, glowing reviews are pouring in all over the place. I'm tempted to pick this up for my PS3 ASAP. It'd be interesting to get some more detail about what the PC version may or may not have vs. the console versions.

Good, it really reminds me of the old ones , which is a good thing, I have fond memories of Street Fighter 2 on the arcade :) , best fighting game of all time.

Was SF the game that had the little green fuzzball guy? haha i remember that shit when i was little.

I'm thinking that if you have a PS3, get the PS3 version if it really runs at 720P resolution. The PC version will probably allow for higher resolutions and anti-aliasing, which could make the game a lot sharper, but the online community probably won't be as solid. It won't sell well on PC.

They'd never fuck up Street Fighter. DMC was a superb port, better than the 360 in respects, so expect Street Fighter 4 to be no different. I can't wait for it with a couple 360 controllers.

I'm guessing it'll include DLC. Capcom already has planned a lot of paid DLC. Buncha new alternate costumes. There's also going to be a new gamemode which will be free DLC.

I maybe have to finally drop some cash on some 360 controllers. Wish they weren't so expensive.

It's definitely worth it if you play a lot of controller-friendly games though. The 360 controller is by far the best PC controller available.

If you're serious about getting this for the PC, start saving now to get a real damned joystick like the Hori or the HotRod or something similar. 360 controllers... anything with a D-pad or even digital sticks, forget it.. while there are some rare people that can actually play with those, the majority simply can't do it.

I used to know a world class Quake player and his controller of choice was the SpaceOrb - but he'd waste people playing against 'em, even beat Thresh 5-2 once... was pretty disgusting getting done in by that guy using that damned controller but he was just god awful good with it.

But Street Fighter on anything less than a true joystick is sacrilege... :D

I'll be quite tempted by this, wonder how my old gamepad would fair for playing this. Wasn't there going to be arcade stick version? That be sweet but probably too spendy at that point.

I know plenty of people including myself that have had no problems at all playing fighting games with PS3 controllers, 360 controllers and going on our way back to the SNES and Genesis days.

There's nothing rare about it at all.

The PS3 controller is pretty good for this game. I'm not an advanced player, but don't have any problems pulling off moves. I'd like a hori stick, but can't really justify the money.

Good to see it's coming to PC, I'm sure it will be good. But if you have a game console already, I don't think it's worth waiting for PC. It's not the kind of game that benefits much from higher resolution/IQ, and like Blackstone said, the online community will probably be much smaller.

This. I used to rape people on SF2:TE on my SNES with a dpad.

I actually think a quality directional pad offers easier execution of special moves, but the problem is more with the buttons. You really need the click responsiveness and feedback of the traditional arcade buttons, not to mention the standard three or four buttons in a row layout which greatly simplifies things.

When I was in elementary school, and addicted to this game, I always figured Street Fighter 15 Turbo extreme Chun Li nude edition would be out around now. Never figured it would take 15+ years to come up with a reasonable successor to SF2.

I'll be buying a arcade deck for sure when this game comes out.:D

No. No it is not, not for this game at least. The 360 controller is great for other games but it has the worst dpad out of any console ever. It makes fighting games nearly impossible to play. And this game has 6 main buttons, the 360 pad has 4, youd have to use the triggers which is just terrible.

do NOT get a 360 controller for this game, total waste of money

Yeah, I do agree with you. I was thinking more along general lines when I made that post. For this game, a specialized controller would be ideal.

Well for general use its the best controller you can get for Windows, but its a really bad controller for fighting games. I had to revert back to the keyboard when trying to play Tekken 3 or any of the capcom games in emulators.

def not the 360 controler. I dont have the game but my friends are crying about the crap dpad and only 4 buttons! wtb old sega 6 button controller or n64 controller (my fav)

Can you imagine what this game would have looked like if they didn't build it for console and just built the arcade using a reasonable configuration. The arcade is basically a PC in a cabinet, and considering that arcade machines back in the day cost thousands of dollars, if they would have even designed the game to take advantage of say, an 8800GTX or even a GTX260 they would have been able to hit on a better balance of frame rate and image quality. I like the look of the game but one has to admit that it doesn't represent the same arcade to console performance ratio that existed back in the days of Street Fighter 2. It has that XBOX sort of look, where it runs in HD resolution but doesn't do it with much authority. You can call the consoles arcade perfect but it would probably be more accurate to say that the arcade is dumbed down for console, visually.

Since I don't frequent arcades anymore, I was surprised to find out (last week, even) that SFIV had been in the arcades for quite some time. Makes me think perhaps I should drop into GameWorks sometime when I'm down on the Strip and take a peek, surely they'll have it.

But I won't play it, can't stand today's newfangled arcades with the stupid "pay for play" cards. If I can't get tokens or drop coins in the slot, fuck 'em... ;)

My friend has this for xbox 360 with a sharp 321080i lcd. It really looks good and all but the gameplay seems really dated. I really alone seen like 3 hit combos being pulled off and just a whole bunch of super moves(fireballs, tornado kicks and rising uppercuts). I'm actually that all that impressed. Mortal Kombat vs Dc seems like it has a better combo system.

Anyone ever wonder why they're taking so long to put this on the PC?
Marketing reasons. The engine Capcom uses for their current-gen games is cross-compatible across the PC, PS3, and 360. All they have to do is compile the game for whatever system they want. It's designed specifically to make it easy to port.
The lack of a reliable dead zone is a problem for me.
Yes, as I said in my next post, the 360 controller is not really suitable for this particular game. In general though, it's better than any other PC controller for most games.
