Place the case up high and you can't reach the dock. Put it down low, you can't operate the touchscreen.

Hm....

Also seems to have gained the fast-becoming-ubiquitous sealed watercooling system, presumably the Asetek found in the HP Blackbird and others.

Can't wait to see what's on the inside.

Valid point. But nothing could prevent them from having the screen on the upper side of the case, right in front of the I-dock. OR, better still have a removable LCD screen with a special port that you'd control from your desk.
I guess I was on the right path when I suggested a touchscreen, and control of the rpm of fans. But then again, what is so extravagant about fans these days.:D Watercooling is the way to go. Also, I wonder if you can control overclocking settings.
Sell it as a base for custom rigs and offer a solid warranty for the watercooling hardware, and they should have no problems selling them.

Ugh back to what's on topic.
Anyone notice that the format looks alot like the new voodoo pc's omen, a front mounted lcd, with slots for slot loading blur-Ray/dvd cdr what have you?

However its quite a bit thicker, and probably not as tall. IT should be interesting, however I hate when I look at amazing case for a specific boutique pc, and realize that I have to have to buy the whole pc just for the case.

Wouldn't this case imply that bfg is going to make an x58 board, or at least rebrand the same xfx/evga board? It will probably use danger den blocks, or asetek oem setup?
Gtx 295 sli, 12gb ddr3, and a 4.0 ghz clock to boot. For 7k. :)

It might even be a great idea to show case their best products in a configuration you can buy.

Not that I would spend 7k on that .... :)

Looks like an interesting system - I'm not a fan of integrated touchscreens though. For the record, both my BFG products (power supply and vid card) have never given me any problems.

While it is about hardware, it is more not about hardware.

It would be nice if the screen had a some visual indication of the various system overclocks. It would be cool if we can have a variety of screen themes to choose from and be able to make our own. I would also like to to really downclock the video card to lower then spec levels to save on power, in real time. An indication of frames per second would also be nice too.

I think it looks spiffy. However I am not an iPod owner, not do I own an iPhone, and nor do I have any intention of ever buying one.

However this is cool regardless.

It sort of appears as though they replaced standard power buttons with touch screen lcd. While cool, what happens when that breaks?? I assume they will also have some decent sys monitoring capabilities, but for my part, my box lives under the desk. Out of principle, probably would not be something I would spend the dough on..

havnt posted in a year, toaster got me impressed, and the discussion topped it all, reminds me of all the trolling that used to go on a few years back.....

This case would look awesome next to my new Epson Artisan 800 printer.

I was dubious about touchscreen printers too but once you try the Artisan 800, you'll never go back to the old button type printers again.

The design behind this thing seems pretty cool to me anyway I'll be keeping an eye on it to see how it turns out.

All things aside, I do have to say coming into work this morning being a foggy shitty Thursday and reading up on the replies since this thread was first started about made me spit out my coffee. Must be all this X-Mas spirit floating around!

Whaaaaaaaa....Whaaaaaaaa...... WWWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......

Some one change the baby already.

Ok, just found this thread...lol. I think it's interesting to see what BFG is doing because they are a solid tech company that many of us enjoy good relations with...especially on the video card side.

2 Suggestions (which have somewhat already been expressed, just not directly):
1) If readers really don't give a flip about what has been posted, why not just ignore the thread completely...don't post. In my previous experiences with other threads, however limited it may be, if someone posted comments concerning their views on the legitimacy/relevancy of the thread, they were considered 'thread crappers' - which is not tolerated here. Why should a thread started by Kyle be excluded from this mindset/set of principles?

2) Kyle was 100% correct about his statements regarding free speech. By his owning of this domain, he has full *rights* to say whatever he wants. If anyone of us doesn't like the fact that he told a few 'contributors' to get the f#%! out of his thread, then that really is our problem.

Kyle, I, as well as many of us here, appreciate all the work you put into [H], and look forward to seeing what the upcoming trends/etc are in the tech arena. We, as readers of [H], would *appreciate* not being sworn at, but at the same time, we do owe you the respect that we, in turn, are seeking. Thanks again, and keep it [H]!

Im sure they'll have a "legacy" button somewhere on the back or some other location.

I want just the case, eff the components.

Looks cool enough to me. At this rate, every item related to a desktop setup will have an LCD.

Speaking of which: I think there should be an Optimus mouse.

Kyle I have to hand it to you,
1 nice spy "photo" 2 pages of discussion about a would be product
1 rant by the admin 4 pages of replies... People love more than the products you show us!

And me I've read the saga just because it was fun to read. That was a nice lunch break for me!

Yep, pretty soon your toilet paper will have an LCD on every square so you can check your facebook between wipes. :D

Looks sort of cool but I have a strange feeling it will be jaw droppingly expensive...then again, it probably isn't targeted to the "retiree checking e-mail and stock prices" crowd.

A pre built box with a useful front panel LCD does sound cool if it's implemented well. The iPod dock...eh, take it or leave it. I don't really mind the USB cable if it'll save me a few grand.

I have never understood the point of a touchscreen LCD on a HTPC case.

My thoughts too... I'm on the couch, why would I want to get up? :) I have actually taken calls at work where people wanted "remote controls" for a touch screen. If not an HTPC, then reaching down to touch it is awkward. Still, overall cool design idea tho.

(and I just spent the last 1/2 hour reading this thread... ran out of popcorn...)

On a HTPC, a touchscreen is silly...I would just rather try and make a Harmony 1000 work for it. Now a touchscreen on my desktop, sure, it sits near me.

The touch screen just looks cool. As for why on the front of a HTPC, if worked correctly, would allow selection of things without having to be on the main screen, like selecting music.

Most of what we do with out machines could be done with just a boring beige box. People here like the bling. Do you really need any CCFL's, much less 10 of them? How many have water cooling, just because it's cool (as in interesting)?

Kyle shows us something new, and people come out and crap on it, without really knowing much about it. The BFG rep even added some comments, which was very nice of him, but after seeing what's been put up here, he may not want to come back.

I have met Kyle and had a few beers with him and he struck me as a very genuine kind of guy. It's really easy for people to take shots at others behind the anonymous wall of the Internet. So it would be nice to talk about this in a constructive sort of way.

Keith

So if ThermalTake is any indication on price than this sucker is going to be $350.00 +. for some reason 7" Touchscreens are still EXPENSIVE has hell :(

Ya know, maybe it's just me, but if Kyle REALLY wanted to take away a few privledges, there's one sure way he could do it:

Now THAT'S how you take care of problems when you own a board! You're still here, right? So quit yer whining!

I think aShrubbery! already put it correctly. It wasn't what you did, but how you did it.

And my point to begin with was that in all these years following [H]ardOCP I have never witnessed such ridiculous and immature behavior from the staff. You guys are usually the ones to protect ppl's right to say what's on their minds. Maybe I just haven't followed close enough...

You guys have much more to offer than that—and you usually do so, and I think the response to this thread proves my point.

If youve been around here for years then you should know the type of humor that is around here....this place is much more relaxed now.

Perhaps the front lcd is actually a sweet ass universal remote that detaches from the HTPC case where you put it to charge. Full color backlit touch screen that comes with the chassis that lets you control your entire media setup. From TV down to PS3 and Xbox 360/Wii.

Or... it could be useless ornamentation that is only fun for the initial use.

I disagree with the image. It's definitely not always fair, but I digress.

On topic, has anyone ever tried making their own touchscreen case mod using existing touchscreen machines like HTC smartphones, iPod Touch or iPhones?

Its always entertaining to watch some people waltz in and try and tell Kyle where to shove it.

He's old school, you won't get over on him that easy people :)

I'm getting gray like him, goddamn too many years doing this kinda stuff. I've lost some of the vinegar in my piss and vinegar mixture, but I can respect him standing up for his views.

If you disagree, there's an X in the upper right corner of your browser that will always fix the disagreement if all else fails.

This product, while different, so far with no specs and no concepts but some pretty pictures, reminds me of waiting for Duke 3D, I'm sure it'll come eventually, but then again, so does Bob Dole with enough viagra.

Kyle, we need some more Core i7 board reviews on [H] buddy. I'm shaking my fist at some of the reviews I've read now that I'm ready to buy. Maybe a head to head comparo of a few in the works?

I do like the idea of the touchscreen..... but I still would like to know more about the features and its purpose. The updated pic is a little nicer, but still waiting on specs and "official" release of info

I know ive not logged into the forums for a long ass time.... but since when did all the bickering and asshattery spill out of the offtopic forums and into legitimate threads? Starts on topic, gets majorly derailed, struggles to get back on topic... but its limping with 2 wheels on the tracks and 2 wheels in the gravel now.
