Where are all the 2560 x 1600 gamers?

I used a Sony 19in CRT until I got my 2407WFP. Never looked back. :)

I knew 24" monitors had come down but I've never seen any that cheap. What 24" monitor can be had for $250?

The Sceptre and Soyo 24's can be found every once and awhile for around that price. Newegg & Officemax have had a few deals.

I won't buy anything Soyo. I am still mad at them for their crappy motherboards and a very crappy flash drive I got from them back in the day. I've never used anything by Sceptre but what I hear about their products is hit or miss.

Yea, I completely understand. You get what you pay for. I had 2 of the Sceptre 24's and they weren't bad. But I finally got my Dell 3007WFP-HC and I'll never ever EVER go back. :D

Most of the displays I have had are S-IPS displays (including my 3007WFP) and as such I can't handle most of the cheaper LCD monitors. TN panels make me cringe.

Hey Frraksurred, I am quite confident a 750W PSU will hold these die shrink cards over quite nicely. Unless you specifically know otherwise. That said I will look around for some reviews and such and I will post what I find.

I had not sat down to do the math, thank you! With the die shrink I was hoping I could squeeze everything under my PC&C 750's hood. Being a "Performance Power and Cooling" it's probably good for every watt too. I've got two 1TB HDD's, two Opticals, a card reader and the usual mobo draw (about 6 fans). I will have to figure it all up and make sure I'm still good. It would probably be close.

Btw, I went from a nine year old, faded out 21" CRT to the 30" XHD. I like my upgrades to grab me, shake me around a bit and slap me in the face with a whole lotta "HELL YEAH!!!" :D

Yeah Frraksurred I have a PC Power and Cooling 750W silencer, and my setup is a bit like yours so it could be close. Well I will find out I guess once the cards are out :)

And yeah I went from a 4 year old Dell XPS Inspiron laptop with a P4 3.4 ghz and 2 gb ram and an ati 9800 mobility to my current setup. And it did more than grab me and shake me around...it literally blew me away...but it blew away my bank account as well lol.

I have the Dell 3007WFP-HC as well. Didn't Dell change panels in this monitor somewhere along the way? If so I'm not sure if I have the original one or the newer one.

Currently I'm using a gtx280 in a Asus Rampage Formula. So I can't do sli. The main reason for this is all of the issues I had with Nivida chipsets. Not that big of a fan of ATi graphics cards either although I was tempted by the 4870gx2.

I play mostly WOW and UT3 so the gtx280 is good enough. I'm planning on keeping the monitor a long time. Hopefully graphics cards will keep getting better so eventually 2560X1600 won't be a big deal.

I remember when I got my first 24" monitors and all of my gaming friends thought I was crazy. Now they all have 24" monitors too.

Graphic cards will improve of course, but future will games ask more of them.

That is just the truth! Especially if Crytek keep making more games on the CryEngine 2 lol. Note I am not complaining :)

OMG. I'm sitting here next to my new 30'' which is sitting next to my 19". The contrast of these two
is unbelievable. It is so frigging huge sitting on my test just two feet away. Oh my, cant wait to get
my rig built. All I can do now is stare at a blank screen. Did I mention this thing is huge!

LoL, yes they are large. Anyway you can rotate your 19 vertically for a profile look?

I'm also gaming on a 30" the Dell 3007WFP-HC! Just received my Power Color HD 4870 1GB PCS card a couple of days ago. I've tried a bunch of games and the card was definitely worth the money compared to my 8800GTS 512MB(G92)
Anyone know how to set the resolution to 2560x1600 in Crysis WARHEAD? The highest resolution I can choose is 1792x1344....

Cant wait till I join you people but waiting until a decent graphic proper 30 incher hits the market that doesnt cost as much as the GDP of a small country and is ips not pva.......wish samsung takes over the IPS panel....

Same.

Most of the displays I have had are S-IPS displays (including my 3007WFP) and as such I can't handle most of the cheaper LCD monitors. TN panels make me cringe.

Night and day to me... but of course, if I dare mention that an IPS is better than a TN in a deal thread, whether it's IPS or TN, I get lambasted and called a liar :p.

I tried that but still cant see any higher resolutions. I tried using the scroll wheel on the mouse and the arrow keeys but still nothing.

Odd. Ok, I'm sure you've tried all this but just to eliminate all possibilities I have to start with the obvious. This is in no way an attempt to insult your intelligence....

To get here I had to click on the drop box, then drag the blue box to the bottom of the list. If your list ends before this point I can only assume you have some corrupted files, Windows is not correctly recognizing your monitor or some thing is awry with the drivers.

If your display properties in Windows allows you to set your desktop resolution all the way to 2560x1600 then Windows has at least recognized the ability of your monitor (which should be good enough). If you are able to play at 2560x1600 in other games, then the drivers shouldn't be an issue. If you are using your latest graphics drivers I would reinstall the game and see what happens. If you are not, I would download Driver Cleaner, run it and then install your new drivers just to make sure of a clean install. Anyway, it's not much but it's a start. Let us know what happens and we'll take it from there.

Just received my 3007wfp-hc from egay. It's amazing!! Such clarity at this resolution.

Thanx, it worked when I dragged the box. Actually never thought about dragging it, just scrolled and used the up and down arrows.

I'm going to be joining the club pretty darn soon; just picked up a 30" Doublesight monitor to go along with my new build. I hope the 4870 x2 is up for it. :D

Well if it isn't you'd have to buy an SLI board (eww) but a couple GTX 280's (yah)

Main reason I bought the 4870x2... fastest single-card solution... I didnt' feel like upgrading the motherboard, especially with Nehalem so close...

So I just bought a SyncMaster 305T 30" widescreen monitor and a GTX 260 last week and I’ve been having a blast playing all my games (old and new)! Gaming at 2560 x 1600 is simply amazing! It may cost an arm and leg to join the 30" club but its money well spent. My question to the rest of you guys is what graphics card are you using with your 30” monitors? I spent several hours debating which graphics card to get and ended up getting the 260. I was afraid it wouldn’t have enough juice to play all my games (and future games) at the massive native resolution of 2560 x 1600. Well I couldn’t be more happier. With the GTX 260 I'm able to play all my games at very high in-game settings at the native resolution, with the exception of Crysis (plays great and runs smooth on medium settings). I'm also able to crank up AA/AF in many of the games I play but certainly not all. Overall I'm very happy with the 305T and GTX 260. They are both remarkable products. The games I’m currently playing are COD4, HL2 series, Stalker series, UT3, and Crysis series.

So what are you guys using any what are your experiences?

I finally joined the 22inch club never mind the 30" club heh...

Hey all those with the 30"ers. I really am minutes away from getting a Sammy 305T. I've got a 245BW right now and love it. I'm very sensitive to ghosting , thus why I bought that particular LCD. I'd rather give up a little viewing angle and picture quality for speed.

So, is the 305T a FAST 30"er? Input lag? Pixel response? Those are my primary concerns. Got it in the shopping cart right now.

I think the 305t would be faster than others because it's an MVA panel not IPS... but I noticed zero ghosting on my 3007WFP-HC and I am pretty sensitive to it.

It used to be terrible 2-3 years ago, but LCD's have really improved.
