Everex XT5000T Support thread

can you make me a retaining clip i can buy from you? :D. i'll pay ya :). i plan on getting the same drives as you once they go back on sale :)

probably the easiest way to backup is to put everything you want saved into one folder then transffering over the gigabit ethernet onto a desktop harddrive. thats what i plan on doing
hurry up and upload the pics :D
you know a lot of people are waiting for those pics, :D

I thought this comp would be able to play not-so-demanding games like World of Warcraft without a problem.

In wide open areas without much stuff, I have 40-50 FPS on max settings, but areas like duskwood or while pvping in a BG, my fps is dropping to 10-15 even with all settings on LOWEST.

I am not happy with this computer any more.

my cousin play wow on this laptop with no problem. perhaps you should check your connection?

actually.....I believe the main reason of the FPS drop, is due to the low powered CPU's that come stock with this laptop. The TL-50 is the lowest of the Turion x2's I believe....with a MINISCULE 512k cache. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a TL-60 and perhaps do something to mod the heat displacement....and you'll be good to go.

I believe I'm going I'm going to upgrade to one of those, myself. look around :)

dont you have any IDE to USB adapter at home? or external hard drive/cd drive enclosure ;)

lol i do have an external drive enclosure, but i have 9 harddrives and i honestly am not sure exactly which one it is on. don't worry it won't be too long till i can repost the pics :)

there are a set of 4 dip switches on the mother board near the GPU heatsink anyone know what they control?

If you go to the XT5000T info page on the Everex website there is a picture of the inner layout of the computer you can notice that it said there is an optional bluetooth device. Has anyone else noticed this or utilized it? I am wondering about trying to find a device that would run off the power slots that are there for it.

ok let me start off by saying that I AM AN IDIOT...and I do things impulsively.

You know whats coming, rofl. I took my laptop apart. 99% apart. And I took some pictures, too, I'll upload them soon enough. so far I am about 4 hours into this endeavour......simply because I wanted to do that fan mod. I discovered that the fan just wont fit on that heatsink....so I decided the next best thing to do, would be take out that little subwoofer, and that hole is PERFECT for a fan. So here I am....its 4am........I'm dead tired, and I have my laptop in pieces on my desk. It's scary, rofl...I REALLY hope I can get this back together.... T_T or someone will have to donate some parts to me....PLEASE lol.

so...more to come on this story.......heh

You are a brave soul keep us updated on what you do and if anything of importance comes up, maybe you can upgrade it to a super system hahaha

Favor, could you get some decent shots of the bare keyboard. Mounting tabs, connector, etc....

In my other laptop, I swapped out the 5400 for a 7200 and the difference in overall speed of the laptop was very, very noticeable. Make the switch over to the 7200, you'll like the speed increase
Sad we lost so much, but I did order a new 80GB 7K100 off the basis of this comment (and some reviews). Should be here Wed!

Anyone have a good method for the swap? Should I just plug the old HDD into my PC (SATA = SATA, right?) and use something like Acronis True Image to copy over C: to the new drive? When I did this for my move to a 500GB HDD, I had to call MS and reactivate - should I expect the same?

Ak ok, don't know who is who between boards so didn't wan't to post the name to reduce possible confusion or start a fight. Also don't want to take credit for the find either.

Well AMD I guess is leaking out a few to get them out of Vapor ware status, guess complaining paid off. That is cool to see but a nice hit on the cost though.........

Hi,
This is what controls the fans. Once the program can control ACPI we get the fan control too.

Hello everyone, this is my very 1st post in this forum:D. I just want to know if any of you had problems looking for a backpack cuz i am tired trying to look for one here in Panama, PTY(next to colombia, in case u didnt know hehe..:p). So I decided that I will order it from any US online store.

Can anyone help me find a nice backpack that could fit the XT and more stuff, like my external hard drive where i have all my software, ISO's, vids and mp3's.

I dont want to waste my money in a bag that wont fit this lappy .

Adios... :D .

Again, since my posts were lost, here's the bottom line: updating from the original bios to C.1C does make a difference when RMClock is concerned. With the original bios, RMClock thinks the CPU load is always 80-90% and doesn't allow multiplier/voltage scaling. With the latest bios(C.1C) RMClock shows correctly the CPU load at idle around 10%, and that allows it to scale down mult/volt which helps indirectly bring the temps down. I went from idling at 65-70C to around 50C just by flashing bios.

And here all this time I thought Panama was that place just outside of Mexico where they dug a really really long trench...

I had a bitch of a time finding a laptop bag for this beast, I don't imagine finding a backpack is going to be any easier.

One word of advice -- buying something thru the mail is going to be really troublesome unless you know absolutely for sure it's going to be large enough for you. I can't tell you how many bags I tried out at local stores that said they were for 17" laptops but were too small (yes, I brought the laptop with me). And of course the ones I would find large enough were twice as expensive as the 15" versions and IMO were all crap, certainly not worth the price.

As it turned out I got lucky and found a really nice, reasonably priced laptop bag at Target. Funny thing is it's labeled a 15" bag but easily holds the 17" Everex. Go figure.

It's not a backpack, so I don't know if it would be of interest to you. And there is very little extra room. I basically can fit the laptop, the power pack, some cables, and not much else. Anything with too much bulk won't fit (I couldn't fit a full sized mouse or headset), but things that are slim you could probably get in there.

Pretty much everything else I saw that would fit the lappy was between $50-$100 too, and most of them were crap. At least this one feels sturdy, is nicely padded, and has metal fasteners, not cheap plastic.

Maybe I'm just a lucky guy, but I bought this when I got my XT, and it fits perfectly (could actually fit a wider laptop!). It's got plenty of neatly labeled pockets, and holds everything I dare to carry (MS WIME 2.0, PDA, digicam, etc.). It's not a backpack, but it's not a pure-business briefcase either.

Hello everyone! You guys inspired me to purchase one of these Everex's. I am playing video games on this comp and some of you said that bf2 and other games are playing fine on this laptop. I have been playing bf2 and insurgency mod for hl2, and I am plumitting in FPS when playing these games. I installed the cpu driver and it's still giving me crap. So I was wondering what you people playing bf2 have your setting at? Or is there another driver i'm missing?

Be sure you setup and run RMClock to prevent the cpu from thottling.

Edit: also is it XP Pro or Home, with Home be sure it see's both cores..........

I've been using Targus Black 17" XL Notebook Backpack Model TXL617 since April and I don't have any complaints about it. It fits the laptop perfectly and still has room for the lappy accessories and still has room for books, binders, etc. I got it off of newegg when it was onsale, but you may want to look around and see if you can find it cheaper (or at least w/ cheaper shipping), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834995414

Down8 just plug the new drive into the empty bay and clone away. I use a program called EZ Gig to make my clones and as of yet have not every had to activate again. For a tip dont bother with Partition Magic 8 as it does not play friendly with Vista.

Hi,
I have major stability problems with Vista and RMClock because of the control RTCore32.sys, Constant lockups. It can be faded running full tilt in the widows power management and RMClock but eventualy there still is the conflict .

NHC doesn't yet support VFID for AMD and the XT5000T isn't directly supported either but they can be. I am trying to find out if the programer uses ACPI for voltage control, but I doubt that.

The computer itself though has it's own ACPI class and NHC can be set programatically to hopefully control the fans and throttling. If this is true it could eliminate the RTCore32.sys that is causing the issues and have a specific Everex.dll made for the machine.

I have extreemly limited experience with C# but in looking at the decompile of the DHDT from this machine it may be doable. From what I can see the DLL would allow direct overwriting of the systems used values in ACPI making it a 0 conflict situation instead of 2 or more programatic controls (system drivers) attempting to sieze the system and setting incompatible values.

I agree completely. Just make sure you decouple the flux capacitor and realign the phase coils or you run the risk of blowing one of the EPS manifolds.
