i bought an evga 8800 gts! payed $480 newegg.com you...? is this a great card or not?

I also got an evga 8800gts from newegg. :cool:

It has been sitting at UPS for the whole weekend. I should get it tommorow (fingers crossed).

ordered a BFG 8800GTS from New Egg yesterday

$429 minus a $30 rebate = $399

BFG also has a lifetime guarantee!

I think it was a good buy, I bought two eVGA 8800GTS's and am lovin' them! Going from a 7800GTX SLI setup to this was nothing short of AWESOME! I play every game I own at 1600x1200 with x16AA/x16AF, and all settings maxed with no lag at all.

i was looking at the 8800 gts and the 8800 gtx. $150 in pocket is good. but looking for the long run. i'm coming from crossfire: 1900xt and x1900 xfire but i decided to sell them both.

The G80 boards are awesome, the drivers however are still quite crappy.

Even with the crappy drivers I'd not hesitate to purchase an 8800GTS/GTX right now. The gaming experience is just AWESOME. :)

yeah I got an XFX 8800 GTS from newegg. Pretty good deal with the rebate. I'm actually going to OC the card now and I'm sure I'll put my highest stable results in my sig when I finish. Love the performance - big upgrade from a 6800GT AGP! I just don't like the way it fogs objects in the distance in Source games like CS. Other than that, kick ass.

Yea, I got an 8800GTS.
It is the eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS; bought from Newegg @ $450-$20 Rebate.
I got clocks of 620MHz/960MHz; extremely fast!

Yes sir I got one when they first came out, evga brand. I liked it so much I went and got a 24 inch dell monitor. Now I really like this card.
Gonna get one more!

I bought myself one of the EVGA ones about a month ago when Newegg had the deal where if you buy a EVGA 680i and a EVGA 8800GTS, you get a $30 instant rebate. Card also came with a $20 mail in rebate. So I got a 680i and a 8800GTS for the price of a lone 8800GTX. Who says the 8800GTS is a bad deal? :p

replace Newegg with NCIX
replace UPS with Puralator

and that discribes it perfectly.

Just installed my GTS. $430, plus 30 mail in. EVGA. bTw I'm getting 62c idle....

Got my evga @ the Egg first day it was out. I couldn't wait. Wouldn't mind getting the GTX, but not sure it's worth it at this point. Now if Nvidia will release a driver for Vista. Yea right. :eek:

You shoulda stepped up, depending on what you payed for the gts though. The GTx is like 650 on evga.

Just put my new setup together over the Christmas break. The 8800GTS is a great card for the money and I'm very pleased with the performance (8897 3dMark06 out of the box). I do have to admit that it runs EXTREMELY hot though.

Just 3dmarked mine, got 8894 (lol at the guy above who got exactly the same) Haven't overclocked it yet because I'm having issues with Ntune. I've had this issue on other ppls systems, so of course it has to happen to me. I drivercleaned before I installed the card, installed the new drivers, installed ntune. For some reason the overclocking configuration under 3d settings and temp monitor do not work. It just sends me to the performance section. Reinstalling doesn't help.

I've just got one. A BFG 8800GTS.

The thing is i am getting low results even with OCing (the card overclockers pretty well@625/1900). I am using drivers 97.44:

X2 4600+@2800mhz

3dmark06 default without ANY OCing --> 7800 points

3dmark06 default with CPU@2800mhz --> 8300 points

The next ones all with X2 4600+@2800mhz:
3dmark06 default --> 8550 points

3dmark06 at 1920x1200 without filters --> 7761 points

3dmark06 at 1600x1200 with FAA@4x and FA@16x (no optimization of anisotropic) --> 6415 points

Also i am having weird results with Half Life 2: LOST COAST (CPU@2400mhz default:
HL2: LOST COAST 1920x1200 and 1600x1200
without filters and without gpu OCing

without filters and gpu OCed@625/1900

FAA@4x and FA@16x without OCing

FAA@4x and FA@16x and GPU OCed@625/1900

Results (1600x1200 and 1920x1200 respec.)
Sin filtros
Without OC --> 88.5fps and 83.5fps
OC@625/1900 --> 87.4fps and 83fps :shock:

FAA@4x y FA@16x
Without OC --> 63.5fps and 54.9fps
OC@625/1900 --> 65.4fps and 55.9fps

You may be CPU limited, just a guess though.

Maybe, but what about this result:
Driver version: 97.44
Card: eVGA 8800GTS
Core Clock: 590mhz
Memory: 1850mhz
Idle temp: 42c
Load temp: 53c
Fan Speed: 70%
Extra Cooling: 2x120mm fans blowing over the card, installed in case window.

3DMark Score: 7312 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 4026 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 4189 Marks
CPU Score: 1112 Marks

With a FX55 MonoCore... :confused: :(

The 3dmark06 patch change anything? i guess i should try to format and install everythinh cleaned and also install the last hotfix of microsoft i haven´t yet installed it

It could also be a driver issue, try driverclean and reinstall. If that doesn't help some people have said that older drivers help. Then again that's a FX-55. Your scores may actually be about right in 3dmark considering what I get at stock GPU speeds with my cpu. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=908505 I would hardly expect you to get the same scores.

I've already used the DriverCleaner beforce i installed the 97.44.

I am thinking about formatting tomorrow, and see... :(

Set the fan speed to run at 75% or 85% constantly and that will drop by 5c to 7c, and max load temps will stay under 80 as well....

I'm getting in the low 11k's with the (01) system in sig.

On water, the GTS is loading at about 44'c.

I can have screenshots up when I get back to my apartment.

yeah add your results to the db! i think its the first 11k i've seen with a GTS (non sli).

Hehe, yep, I might be able to run a bench tomorrow!

great card - I paid $450 for mine, clocked at a conservative 600/1900 (and can go a lot higher from what I can tell) and scores 9,300 3dmark2k6 with an AMD Opteron @ 2.8ghz (ram @ 200mhz)

Only drops the idle to 58c when I put the fan on 100% ( it seems to be idling around 60c or so now.)

I got the XFX 8800GTS for $381 +tax from Dell.

As for upgrading from the 7900GT to a 8800GTS... The 8800 is quite a bit faster and the IQ is waaaayyyy better. The final choice comes down to whether the games you're playing look and play good with what you have though. If not, upgrade.
