Sound Good To You Guys/Girls? :D

Sounds damn good.

Credit cards tend to bite you in the ass btw. ;)

You wont b saying that when your realize how much extra you paid cause of interest payments.

CC are good IF you pay off your entire balance with in a month or 2, otherwise you the extra money you spend add's up, why do you think they tell you "minimum" payment, they want you to make the min, thas how they make money from you :(

That and you are continually paying for something that is getting cheaper and more obsolete as time goes by.

Nice rig, CC are nice but can come back to haunt you. I rather pay in cash, or pay by cc then pay it off in 2-3 months. But nice rig, never the less. Now you just need a 24-30" LCD...

Well, I'm a college student, but my parents are paying for all my college expenses. The only thing I have to pay is my cell phone bill. Tuition, Books, Room and Bored, are all payed for by my parents. I work on campus about 15 hours a week and make about $400 a month, my cell phone bill comes to about $105 a month. So, I gout about $300 a month to spend.

I've been gaming on an Athlon-XP, 9550 Pro for the past 3 years, and I'm getting sick of it! I know it'll take me forever to save up for the computer I want, plus I have no credit.

So, I have no credit (or rather, I don't have a very long track record of credit) but I have a fair decent amount of disposable income per month. That's why I'm going with credit cards. I hope to use two credit cards and pay $100 on each a month, and then over the summer get a job, and just use all my summer money to pay off the remainder. So, I figure by the start of next fall I'll be out of debt, and on my way to buy games to use on my machine!

Finals are all next week, so I'm not gonna buy anything Until the start of break. I'm excited as Hell though to finally push the 'buy' button! =)

If I could sell everything, monitor, speakers - the entire computer system in 4 years (when I get out of college) for $1,500 I'll be happy. I don't plan on building a new computer until I get out of college and get myself a $100k job

Errmm...have you done the calculations on how much this rig will be costing you? As in, first month you pay $200, that knocks off $200 from the balance. Have you calculated how much the interest will be on the remaining balance over the course of the months?

Just some food for thought.

Other than that, damn nice rig.

I'll be paying close to $500 in intrest.

I'll be using two credit cards, one starts at about $30 in intrest the other at $20. So, $50 in total for the first month. Over the summer is when I really plan to pay them off.

Though, I honestly don't really care since I can afford it right now, meaning I can pay the minimum off each month at least. My goal is to build credit right now since all my other expenses are being paid for, I figure this is an easy way to get my credit score up and build the kind of credit I want. This is more of a learning experience of credit card use then anything else. Plus, it gives me an excuse to build a computer :D

Yeah. Four years ago, it was 2002.

Would you pay $1500 for a computer from 2002?

Best example ever.

Anyways, as I tell my friends and family who do this, it usually ends up being a rather large mistake. It would be better to save until you have enough to get half on cash. Meaning, pay for it in credit, then pay that bill wit hall teh cash you saved, at least. Full on credit with intentions to 'pay if off later' never works.

Murphy's Law... Otherwise, life happens.

I bought a Socket A AMD system on my credit card about 3 years ago and I know I am still paying for it. It probablu costed me about 800 all together and I think I paid around 2000 for it so far. CC suck butt and ruin lives.

Sorry but it's true. The sytem sounds kickin

i wouldnt pay 1500 for my computer from 2004

my computer cost me quite a bit when i bought it... now i wouldnt even think to charge someone more than $500 for it (athlon 64 3500+ and such)

Save for a few months, and buy a really good system for $1500. Debt sucks, and don't think you won't end up in it.

You don't need 2x8800GTX's right now. I'd just get one and not pay for the second until the summer when you have that nice job ;).

i speak for everyone when i say that i demand pics of this godly rig. do you think you will be able to travel forward into time with those dual 8800gtx's?

Man, you have to pay for being bored? That must suck trying to be occupied all the time so it's not costing you!

As someone in college, I say it's a terrible terrible idea what you're doing. I would kill to have $1500 in my bank, or hell, NO credit card debt.

But I'd love to have that rig! Best of luck... do you already have the CC's?

drop the OCZ 600w psu and the TT 5.25" bay psu. It'll work with just one good power supply like a Corsair HX 620. More usable power, higher quality, and almost non-existant ripple.

with such a low income i wouldn't even dare to think of doing what you're up to. i'm in college, too, but i also have a nice part time job that pays $400... weakly! and i only work 3 days a week! and even with that much larger income i still wouldn't do it. hell, last month i bought a new rig, and i paid it full asap. there's no way i'll be paying interest. seriously, save some money over the next few months, and buy the new rig after spring semester. there are better ways to build good a CC record.

While I tend to agree, eBay is the great equalizer. I just sold a 2003 (3.5 years old) mobo/cpu/ram combo on there for over $200. Probably cost me $500 new. I say not bad at all.

So he won't get as much as he's hoping, but letting the stupid masses decide how much it's worth can be a pleasant surprise.

This guy is going to totally regret his decision to buy this system. This is like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

~$7/hr for an on-campus job? bleh. find a better job, lol. i know at my campus, the computer lab paid at least $8, and that was a while ago, lol. oh, and like i said earlier... if your cards are 0% APR for like 12 months, then go for it, lol.

More like watching the conductor getting drunk before boarding. ;)

How about some pictures?

BTW, after you start making payments, it wont be so awesom.

apply for newegg credit, buy most of the hardware from them.. no payments for 6 months over $500 dollars. I built my last computer and had it all paid off before the 6 months.

I know this has turned into a "preachy" type thread, but I have to concur with many others here. As someone who completely destroyed his credit in college, I can't even tell you the world of hurt you're in for if you max those two cards now.

The big problem will be that one you start paying on those two cards, other credit card companies will start sending you pre-approved cards. In college, on a small budget, it's entirely too easy to start paying for everything with plastic. You'll start off now paying $100/mo and within 18 months, you'll be at double or triple that just to meet minimums.

Soapbox aside, you listed a kickass rig. Over the top, maybe, but that's up to you, I guess.

Post some pics when you're done. :)

Good luck!

Fantastic system but I seriously recommend that you wait and save up the money than ruin your credit at such a young age.

with refund time right around the corner it might be cool for some (who get refunds) to buy themselves an early Christmas gift. But the idea is to pay the CC off with the refund or else you have a gift that keeps on taking :)

Winner. Did this as well.

Bad Idea, Save up and get a more realistic build?

Do you really need two 8800GTX? Why not buy 1 and then another when your really gonna need it? Lets face it, a 8800GTX will run anything with ease for quite some time..

I bought my current rig on Credit, Bad mistake. Only a few months ago I stopped paying it, and I ended up paying half again on intrest alone. Right now I am saving for a Dx10 rig, No way in hell will I go credit again.

really build a good system.... go with one 8800gtx or even better a 8800gts... what size monitor you on? a 24" if not spend less on GPUs and save more.. i know you think you will pay it of over summer but chances are you wont.....

so go with

1 GPU, 8800gtx or gts
some good DDR800 2x1gb kit
1 150 raptor or a good 7200rpm drive instead
1 PSU the corsair one is really good....

Logitech Z-5500 get some cheaper speakers... those are easy to upgrade later

If i were doing this on a CC i would want to make my debt less. when my CC reaches $800 i get nervious..

I was in your shoes 2 years ago and never had a CC only got one when i got out of college and make some better $$

best decision i have ever made....

but really save yourself and get build a more budget sys

like
e6400
DS3
8800gts
DDR2 800 2x1gb kit
good PSU
get a $40 keyboard and I like the mouse :)
use headphones or some cheaper speakers... $140 range 2.1 if you have to...

honestly if everyone one here who is [H] is telling you CC PC buying isnt a great idea at least lower the total $$ that you spend...

the e6400s hit 3.0+ no prob and ddr800 will allow for that with out costing an arm
the DS3 or asus P5b are good board and lots of people use them that make a hell of a lot more money that you do...

dont be dumb and try and build the best sys so people admire it on Credit... no one admires that!!!!!!!

i promise...
