I was looking to buy a Dell 20.1" LCD and I seemed to have found one for an amazing price from Richatarded. Thread here:

And since he was paypal verified I thought everything was ok. I guess not, he gave me the payment address and I paid after a day or two. He said he'd ship out in a day or two and that was the last I have ever heard from him through PMs. However apparently, he still views this forum constantly, but seems to constantly ignore all signs of communication. He promptly closed the previous trading thread when people started to question him.

I have filed a complaint through paypal, but I have a feeling that this is a little too late for it as he seems to be buying new equipment. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do?
 
Same thing here, and with several other members. Reports of actual shipments are sketchy, and I have PM'd a moderator for some advice. Sad thing is, if he had just sent a 'hey, I'm working on it' email a few days ago, everything would be cool.
 
well, it looks like he is using the money already dont you think? supposedly he ordered two new 7900 gt's

glad I didnt went through the deal of buying one of those monitors

hopefully you guys get a solution soon
 
7/10 "too good to be true" deal from n00bies i'm betting are scams. So please use heatware and make sure who you are paying is reputable. Or if you are going to take these chances try to work out a deal for partial payment at least. I've had a few paypal disputes and they've always ended in my own frustration and regret.
 
That's the crazy part, it's not like he's a noob here or anything. Now he's claiming he never offered me them in the first place. Last time I checked 'pay XXX for them and we've got a deal' indicated an offer.

I just got two new 2007fp's from work, and I paid 200 for them each, so my price of 250 each stands since I had to do all the work, and I have to package them and ship them, they are brand new, used an hour or so. 450 for both and we have a deal

Assumed it was a simple misunderstanding (first guy maybe got the old monitors, and I got some new ones from his work) and talked to him via AIM. He blamed it on his paypal account being locked up for not being able to send out the monitors in a timely fashion. Said it was asking him for some personal info, etc. I was cool to his plight, said that was ok, just keep me informed.

He said he had 10 of them from a corporate Dell rollout (some of the people wanted their old monitors instead), and he got first crack at them. A little unusual, but not impossible...I had the same situation happen up here at my job, got some sweet tablet PCs out of the deal.

Afterwards, I told him via AIM I'd be happy to help him out, I knew some more people who would be interested since it seemed like he had gotten over-committed and needed the cash for something else. I even mentioned that I would be more than happy to set up an alternative form of payment if he'd refund my Paypal back to me and it would help him out. He said he'd get to the bottom of it and get them out, and I kindly bumped his thread.

Hey man, I saw you were on the board today around three. I know you may not be able to reply via your sidekick, but please email or PM me tonight or tomorrow morning and at least let me know what's up.

My paypal shows that my funds cleared, and I know that you may be having a situation with your account right now, but you really need to get back with me and try to keep me in the loop.

Thusly, we start the waiting game...got tired of not hearing from him (especially after the intial thread went dead), so I opened a paypal dispute today, 8-22-2006.

Saw him posting about all the new toys he had just ordered, and I got a little angry. After all, what guy begging for cash to pay off his new car magically has enough to buy a completely new high-end rig?

SLI water cooled question
I have just placed a danger den order for some water cooling stuff for a new build (wait for my thread on tuesday ) and I have a question for you guys

on a DFI lanparty Nforce4 SLI-DR expert, with two XFX 7900GT's and two DD maze4 blocks, can I mount them both with the barbs facing the top and get 1/2ID 2/3OD tubing to make the bend from one card to the other without kinking? I have seen some people just placing the block so the barbs face backwards and using longer runs, but I think it would look really good with the shorter loop, what do you guys think?

Because you haven't replied to me in more than a week about the items I bought from you, and I had to file a paypal dispute this morning because I thought you dropped off the face of the earth!

I tried PMs, keeping my messenger open, emailed you a few times, posted in the thread, and gave you every opportunity to say 'hey, something's come up, it'll be a few days'.

I didn't want to hijack your thread or start a dispute, but it's been impossible to get in contact with you. Shoot me a PM and let me know whats up and pass on some tracking info so that we can get this cleared up.

Finally got a response from him, but I probably won't believe it until I see it.

Sad thing is, if he didn't want my money, he could have just not accepted it, but he did. I also made it very clear what the money was for in the comments sent with the Paypal.

It's just a tragic comedy of errors at this point. Overall, if I get back my money, I'll consider myself lucky at this point, and I won't believe it until the dispute's closed.

Rule 2/8 Claiming someone is a troll because they are selling something "too good to be true" or any other suspicious reason is not allowed.

What's your experience with paypal disputes?
 
Well, I'm pretty sure the guy's going to be steaming with me at this point, but I went ahead and did the nice thing and edited my hijack post on his WC thread.

At least he can't say I'm not responsive...
 
Well, the paypal information and the name is already different from the ones that he gave me. So he's a fraud already.

I do have to say, this is what heatware is for... I dont see any heatware listed. Does he even have any? If not, why did you sent him money. Gee who would have guessed a guy named "Richatarded" would be a troll. *snicker* :)

I am in no way steaming with you, a little disapointed, but not steaming, I understand where you are coming from, and would like to apologize for this, as I said before I was NOT at a computer and reading and replying to PM's on a sidekick is next to impossible, its hard enough to simple browse the forums on that limited browser as it is. Anyways I am going to compare a list of what was shipped, and what was not, I messed up with leaving town right in the middle of a few deals, but I lead a crazy life and it happened, I believe your money has been refunded, but honestly there is about four payments on my paypal and I don't know which one was yours, I just picked the one that I never printed a shipping label for. Let me know if you didn't get a refund!

P.S the reason for two paypals was the one I was using (paypal.rick) is mine, and paypal decided to do a "random screaning" and locked my account with about 10 million steps to unfreeze it, so I made another one, added another bank and accepted my payments on that, I would have told you I was out of LCD's if I could have, but you just kept PM'ing me where I had NO way of reading those!

Again, I am sorry, and hope to resolve this as quickly as possible. I am NOT a scammer.

I got a refund. I'm really disappointed in this situation, because it could have been resolved easily. I never thought you were a scammer, you just had really crappy communication. Anyways, no hard feelings, thanks for the refund.

Again, sort of sucks because I went ahead and sold my monitor in preparation for this. If you get to a point that you get caught up and are still interested in selling them, let me know and we can try this again.

He claimed in another thread that I just kept PM'ing him, and that simply is not the case. I had long conversations with him the day his paypal locked up, and I also shot off emails to him, trying to establish contact. I would see him ghost on occasionally on AIM, the boards, etc. and I did my best to establish contact.

Bad things happen to good folks, and you never know what may come in life. Let's hope that this situation solves itself for all involved, and I wish you all the best. Thanks once again to the mods and the people of the boards for not letting me down. Fine folks to the end, all of you.

Again, RESOLVED FOR LOTHAR, GOOD LUCK TO OTHERS. I will PM you if I hear anything further on my end.

Damn i subscribed to his FS thread cause he did seem kinda suspicious, i figured something like this would happen, but i posted in there saying he may have had an emergency, but the whole time i wasnt thinking that i was just thinking he was bad news...

i hope everyone who dealt with him gets their stuff resolved, im hoping i never have to start a thread like this :(...
 
You're the lucky one. He finally PMd me back and I guess the steam came at me instead of you.

I will do the same as Lothar if you refund my money (250) as well, but until then I will have to maintain this thread as it seems that this was the only way to grab your attention. I want to resolve this with you peacefully and honestly Ive been as patient and as objective as possible.
 
Update: He's contacted me through PM and has let me know that I should wait until he gets his account verified to get a refund. Everything looks good for the refund and I'll wait until Friday for that to happen.

Sorry to hear about all of your guys' troubles with this seller. I was about ready to jump on the monitors myself when he first posted the deal. Good thing I have a girlfriend to convince me that I do not need another monitor.

it was a misundrestanding, I remember talking about the price and including my paypal address in there, andin the middl of talking about it I left, and you paypaled me, But common isunderstanding.
 
At this point I think comments should just be limited to those who have paid and are either awaiting a refund or their product. As people begin to get their refund, please note it in this thread so that we can begin to clear up this whole misunderstanding.

To the others who have not actually dealt with the seller, thank you for your support, but at this point we should look to work things out rather than to just point fingers.
 
also purchased a 2007 from rich and experienced the lack of comm. pm'ed lothar because i saw that he also bought some 2007's, and he told me about the paypal dispute. i was about to, but luckily, rich replied to my pm saying that he had shipped everything out and all i had to do was give him my name and he would give me my tracking info. Still waiting on that tracking number, but i'll continue to be patient. Also, he told me that he was shipping from carmichael, CA, which is about an 8 hour drive north of me. How long do you guys think it should take to ship the monitor here, even with the cheapest method?

oh, and p.s. i currently have a 2005fpw right now, do you guys think a 2007fp would be a step up? [price not a matter since rich had a great price for the 2007fp] or is it just a personal preference between widescreen and standard?
 
poomonger: if your LCD has not arived, there is a problem, it was shipped a long time ago, and I am going to get on the phone now with UPS and see if I can ge a tracking number and see whats up

(this is what happens when you leave a shipment at work and don't watch it get picked up yourself)

I would also like to know if my item has a tracking# as well I requested one in a phone conversation last week with you and don't have any shipping / tracking info. If I could receive that information it would be much appreciated.

This weekend he will supposedly attend showdown lan in san jose california aug 25-27. Tickets are sold out but you can still attend as a spectator. So come, enjoy the vender booths, eat good food, and get ur money back!
