The game that started it all!

I'd say it was either the bolderdash clone, Wanderer or Captin Cosmic on the PC side.

I also have fond memories of Asteroids, Defender, Centepede, Pole Position, Frogger, Missile Command ect on my Dad's old Atari 800.

First computer game - Oregon Trail

First one that got me "hooked" - Secret of Monkey Island - still have the original 3.5", manual, dial-a-pirate, box, etc...

Game I loved but overlooked by others - Planescape:Torment - still the best crpg, period.

The first game that I started on was Sonic 2, but the game that really started me on video games was Megaman X. After I played it, I started playing all the games in the series, then went back to beat Sonic 2, then I got into PC gaming, with stuff like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D.

The game that got me into online gaming was Team Fortress Classic, which I eventually left for Counter-Strike. Once I stopped playing that, I started getting heavily into UT99, which is the game I still play the most online.

The game that got me playing online was TFC. My first game... I don't remember, probably something for the NES.

Online? F-16 Multirole Fighter by Novalogic. That game sent my grades down the shitter. My parents made me stop playing it, and you wouldn't believe the difference in my report card! Granted, this was in 7th grade. I also dumped a lot of hours into TFC.

Single player? The original Hitman. Hence, the handle. :p

For computer? It was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Before that, I was a major console gamer, starting with the original NES and Super Mario Bros., as well as Tecmo Baseball, and Ninja Gaiden.

I had a Coleco, Intellivision and an Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 when I was very young but what got me started with the computer games was BARD's TALE, especially Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate. That was the first game I was obsessed with trying to end.

And did it!! :D

A friend of mine had DooM on his pc at his house. After I saw it I basically lived at his house until my family got a pc. Ohhh the old days of 1994.

i played games since i could remember, but the main game that gave me the feeling (the edge), would have to be a game called star tropics for the NES, and then Scrammbled Spirits for the Sega Master System.

but for the PC world, i would say Diablo 2, after that i was hooked.

Atari 2600: Yar's Revenge

Commodore Vic 20: I don't even remember

PC: Red Planet, a text adventure I discovered at school. Also: Wolfenstein 3D.

I was lucky enough to start gaming in the early 90s, a time even better than 1998/99 that is so fondly remembered. X-COM, X-Wing, Dune II, Wolf3D, Doom...legendary stuff came out in those first few years. It wasn't until 3D acceleration went mainstream that anything really significant was done again.

Lunar Lander on an Atari 800 PC when I was in 4th grade. Some cool games were also Shamus and Zeppelin. First flight sim I had was F-15 Strike Eagle.

I remembered how stoked we were to go from a tape drive to a 5.25 inch disk for some games.

For PC, Mechwarrior 1 and DOOM started the money drain.

The original quake would have to be it. I remember having to use Q95.bat to run modem to modem. Then came the www with quakeworld.

The game that hooked me into gaming completely was either the original Street Fighter 2 (SNES) or Sensible Soccer (AMIGA) playing them around at my mates house (His dad always got him everything the second it came out, lol). Long time ago now, cannot remember which came first.

The first game I ever played though was one of the old NES wrestling games (Can't remember which it was now), again at my mates house.

Mario! For NES was what really started me out in consoles. And Roller Coaster Tycoon was it for PC! My first online experiances were with Jedi Knight: JA! man..........*sigh*.....good times......

the zelda games on the n64 were the first games i sunk a huge amount of time into. my first online addiction was mechwarrior 4. that was the shite. no1 could beat me in my atlas with maxed armor, dual gauss rifles, quad mid pulse lasers, and clan tech homing srms. those were the days...

The game that got me into PC games was Police Quest. That games was the SHIT! played it on a green monitor too lol.

Actually, now that i think about it, i think it was Oregon Trail at school in middle school... oh i think that was like around 87 or 88.

But police quest was the one that made me want a computer, but my family was to poor to get one. I didnt get a PC till 98, and i bought it solely for EQ

Choplifter on Apple II, or loadrunner. I also remember playing strike commander (when it would run) when we got our first computer that we installed a cd-rom (a reveal 2x) in, and it rarely ran right without a boot disk.

Warcraft 3. First game I ever could play for hours without doing anything else...also still holds my longest gaming time record at 8 hours straight.

StarCraft.. for PC gaming, Super Metroid I think was really the first game that I ever played that I truly couldn't stop playing it.

Deus Ex I credit for introducing me to FPS's which is pretty much all I play anymore

Star control 1 :D

it came in an Accolade combo pack that my dad bought at sams club for Test drive 2, I fired it up and didn't move for almost an entire summer except to eat.

Quake for sure...although once I got broadband ut2k3 was a definite second place

Loderunner....awesome game. We played it in high school on the Apple II and at home on the C-64. I just bought it for my cell phone on Brew. The best was making your own levels. We got really creative at making them and trying to stump each other.

Hmm, definately not the first video game I played, but the one that got me hooked into the computer was Carmageddon 2. My god, I love/d that game.

did the op want to know pc games? or any game including consoles? i was hooked to gaming the day i got my NES and played super mario and duck hunt untill 4am on a school night and got to skip school the next day... i call that day the day the downward spiral in my academic career began =] i had played atari and old pc/commadore games before, but the NES is what did me in.

As for competitive gaming, Warcraft2 back in 95' did it for me... i couldnt get enough war2 on kali. people still play it on bnet, but like every game, the community eventually dies out and you get left with a bunch of retards. id still be playing it if there were a few thousand people to play against.

When it comes to PC gaming in the current age, i would have to say that the original X-Wing got me in to gaming. i had to play for a while with no sound, since i was such a n00b i didnt know i needed a soundcard :D

When it comes to Gaming pre 1990, when i was a kid my family had a Commodore 64. i would play on that thing for hours, those game cartidges and floppy disk games. i had no idea what i was doing because i was 6 years old, but i do remember it was fun.

consoles started with mario on the NES.

Warcraft II was the first game I got seriously addicted to. Then Diablo was probably the game I got most addicted to. Starcraft was the first game I really started playing online. Best game I ever played that no one else did was Motor City Online. Most addicted I have ever been to an onlime game. I wish they still had at least one server up but it was online only. The game sucked but the idea and community were great and above all was the competition.
