Post your "rate my cables" here

One more reason for me to want to do away with it...I enjoy a moderate level of fan noise in a system, and I'd most likely just have the CNPS9500 on full speed 24/7.
its simple to disable the leds in a led fan... find the leds... snip.. oh no light

I know I know...just didn't know if the LED's were in the fan itself or somewhere in the base of the cooler. I've "snipped" fan LED's before, I dunno why I thought it would really be any different here...my bad. :p

well i dunno where they put it.. but its easy to spot a light source...

Right again....now I just gotta decide if I'm even gonna end up WITH an ATX tower system...still strongly leaning towards the Shuttle XPC build I have planned out. The XPC would still involve some interesting wire management...the chasis will be painted/modded a fair bit...and all wiring can/would be sleeved and heatshrink'd...could be a fun project. :)

sounds challenging doing a shuttle, nice idea

I'm looking forward to it....not THAT expensive for a nice LAN rig...I'm holding myself back to a s754 build, but it's not a system that I really plan on upgrading a lot...less then $1,500 CDN and the main specs are looking like this:

Shuttle XPC SN85G4V3
AMD A64 Mobile 3200+
2x512MB OCZ EL Platinum Rev.2 PC3200
Sapphire Radeon X800XT-PE
Maxtor 250GB 16mb cache
Sound Blaster X-FI

.....Should do alright once I mod the chasis to get a Silencer installed on the X800XT-PE so it sticks out the left side of the chasis, expelling all the heat and voltmod it/get it up just over 600Mhz, and have the 3200+ running at 280x10...nice enough LAN rig to keep me happy for awhile I figure.

cant exactly say thats a bad build.... my dothan and fx57 is going to start off with x850 xt-pe's

Yeah, by the time I build it I'll probly pickup an X850XT-PE cheap enough instead of the X800XT-PE...I was thinking of going s939 and PCI-E with the shuttle...but the only way to do that is with a P series chasis...and I HATE the layout...so even though I'm "stuck" with an X850XT-PE...the G5/G4 layout gives me the option for an add in sound card, and I love the look of the SN85G4V3...check it out if you want...it's gonna be SICK once I get the XPC itself modded and have everything OC'd...I can't wait. :D

you can save some money by buying a x800pro vivo and flashing it to unlock the extra 4 pipelines, then oc'ing it to xt-pe speeds (with adequate cooling for the gpu and memory, i'm assuming). not only do you have extra cash to spend on other things, but you also end up feeling really good about yourself!

Problem with that is that even once you've unlocked the 4 pipes, you're still starting from an X800Pro clock base clock speed...and even though I'll be voltmodding the card, I want/like the re-assurance that I'm gonna be getting the most out of the card I can...just personal preference I suppose.

xt-pe's are golden samples of the chipset... there xt-pe's for a reason ;)

W0rd...I loved my old X800XT-PE...on stock air cooling with a Vantec Fancard installed under it and the plastic cover taken off the cooler I voltmodded the card (can't remember the voltage) and had it just over 600MHz...threw it on h2O with my 3.4E (in the same loop)...upped the vGPU, and had the X800XT-PE at a core speed of 702Mhz at one point...wasn't rock solid stable, but 675MHz on the core would run 24/7 just fine.

I can't wait to have a 600MHz+ XT-PE in the shuttle...paired up with the 2.8GHz A64 it'll be one fricken kick a$$ LAN rig indeed. :D

new PSU, Antec Neo HE 550W, modular and sleeved. Its gotten a bit better than last time, hopefully with the pro's being so active for the past few pages  :D :p i can get more comments :D

that's either one huge case, or somethings missing. Something doesn't look right..
Either way, good job with the wires..

It's called an mATX motherboard, and for christ sake don't quote images on the same page.

lol thanks guys, no need to fight :p Its the gigabyte Aurora, with a modded HDD cage. A lot of space is wasted at the top of the case, and the 5234545234 big HS's and fans make the motherboard look very small, which it is anyways. The case is fairly big too. thanks for the comments

That's one small a$$ mobo in one big a$$ case you got there pincho...nice job with the wires. I really like the look of that cooler on the mATX board, it's like half the size of it. :p

Nice and clean computer you got there.

But please explain this... I thought people buy mATX motherboards to put them in small mATX cases... so what was the reason for your combination??

lol, still using same url from 2 other posts

i know, my cabling sucks but at least it's out of my airflow path

wow....lol what case is that?

1)Try runing the atx connector back under the psu and against the wall of the case then plug it in.

2)Flip the HDD around and run the plugs back behind the motherboard tray

3) Try to at least zip tie those molex connectors if you cant hide them.

And wtf is that green thing...it looks like one of them old panasonic cameras with the instant photo film..

gateway btx case
1.)not sure if that'll work. the 20-24 pin adapter is pretty damned stiff
2.)not sure if there is enough room back there or how the SATA cable would do, but i might look into it.
3.)lol, not a bad idea. i might do that in a little bit

the green thing is a duct over the cpu, btx:
120mm fan ->CPU->chipset->graphics card->120mm fan

edit: i tried some more

I have a ThermalTake Tsunami and I can't seem to route the cables so they aren't seen, and right now it looks pretty horrible. I am about to sleeve the PSU cables, just waiting for a Molex remover, but even then I don't see a way to hide them. Does anyone else who has hidden their cables have this case?

thanks well the reason is cause its an OEM motherboard.. Packard Bell P4 Northwood. I originally had the stock case, but then upgraded to a gig of ram and a 6600GT, and there were no fans on case so things were getting mighty hot.. so i bought another case which i soon got very bored with, and i liked this case. I said, i might be upgrading soon, why not? i bought it, and then i started looking for new parts.. i want OC and suffienct cooling for a new system, so i bought Scythe Ninja, along with the Antec neo he, for my future upgrade. And hopefully that will be soon :D

Someday I will sleeve everything. Today is not that day.

I'd comment, but I'm at home now and this old 17" CRT is on it's way downhill and the brightness is so low I can't see a damn thing. :(

Guess I'll have to wait until I get to work tomorrow. ;) :p

eh its alright.. you have it all bundled into two backbones... please zip tie them all together tighter/cleaner and take new pics ... without using camera angle tricks ;)

Yeah, and smaller pics would be GREATLY appreciated. ;) :D

just so you know. i dont believe you need that 20 to 24 pin adapter. i work on gateways all the time at work and they have all worked with only a 20 pin power.

or you could always get a power supply with a 24 pin on it. those adapters hurt you more than do good. it basically splits your rails to 2 different places and stresses your psu more than if each had their own rail.

Yeah, 'cept I'm working with a desktop of 1024x768 at home...and a MAX of 1280x960 on this eMac here at work. :p

No offense, but I would hope you're not looking to get any praise for those pics, or the wiring...from what I can actually make out, you've got a LOT of work ahead of you. ;)

AH HELL NO! i had been using my psu w/o the adapter (antec true 480) and it fried TWO bfg 6600GTs when they were overclocked. TWO! i bought the adapter, OC'd them, and none are dead since. trust me, you learn from your mistakes. i think my psu can afford losing some power to with the rails ;)

IMHO, in my experience, if you overclock your gpu and have a 20 pin psu, get an adapter or a new psu. maybe this is only for my mobo, but if you don't wanna fuck your cards up...
