Report the fucker to the Tips, Tricks & Trolls subforum (found at the top of the For Sale/Trade forum) and contact your local law enforcement agency and try to gather as much data as possible about your transactions etc. These people need to be taught a lesson!

25% off IS 899...

lol. I guess I wasn't paying attention. I suppose if I added the 25% off first I'd notice but the 20% was already there.

Got my LCD today. Damn, this thing is big, and it's damn bright. I have the brightness set to 0 on the lcd and -22 in ATi control panel and it's still bright. But I'm in a dark enviorment which I should probably light better anyway. So hopefully that'll help the eye strain. But no dead pixels. So I'm happy. It's also plenty sharp at .27 pitch. Which I was worried about.

Yah, I'd kill for 45% off one of these, plus DPA plus stackers. It'd be like $500-600. :D

The "all or nothing" concept applies for all DIGITAL signals. As good as component may be, it's still not digital. I remember I had a set of really crappy component cables and the picture looked quite heavy on the red. I got a set of Monster component cables (they were horribly expensive; I can't imagine myself spending that much money on a set of cables ever again) and the picture is totally crystal clear. The only digital ("all or nothing") connectors are HDMI and DVI.

Hope that helps.

Thanks again for the help on this. Got my new cables. PQ is about the same. I think for me it's just a question of viewing distance. As a monitor, I'm using it at about 2.5-3' out, and it looks gorgeous. Any farther away and my aging eyes can't see the text well.

As a TV, about 9-10' seems to be the sweet spot. Even strong SD signals look really sharp from that distance. Most movies look incredible, and HDTV (with a good feed from the station - and a good film-to-HD xfer) looks really stunning.

I'm happy with the thing.

If anyone is in/going to college soon and has one of these monitors, I suggest you pick up a Kensington Lock, because there "IS" a hole on the back that allows cable locks to lock it down... I bought a couple for my LCD and my PC... no theives stealing from me.... if I wanted to get really high tech, I'd put an RF tracker on it :)

I have had a long ship date every time ordering from Dell and have received my orders in 3 or 4 business days.

Yeah, I ordered mine Monday AM, 6/13/05, and I received it on Thursday the 16th. The estimated ship date was next Thursday (6/23/05).

What if a theif gets pissed that he can't steal it, so he vandalizes your 2405

Yes you will, don't worry your monitor will most likely be shipped out in a day.

My guess is you will receive it Tuesday, but then again I dont know where you live.

yea, youll get it alot sooner. i ordered mine on Tuesday and recieved it today. its still listed at "In Transit" on Dells site. ill post picutres later tonight when i have it setup.

I don't think I'm going to recieve my 2405 this week. I called Dell and they said they'll shipped it out this Friday and that I should get it 3-5 days from Friday. This sucks. I wanna play with it already. :(

hey tpizarro, im from San Jose too!! cool beans. hmm, my 2405FPW took 3 days from day i ordered it. It shipped from Texas.

Mine also shipped from Texas. It took me 2 weeks to get here, but that was because of the lazy customs here... ;)

I was amused to see, on the UK Dell website, that --- after raising the price of the 2405 by a staggering percentage (35%, wasn't it?) - Dell now have actually brought the price down!

Yes, that's right! The Dell used to be, what, 869 GBP? Then it SHOT UP to 1177.35 ... but no longer!

No! You can now buy the 2405, now shipping in only three weeks and with a lead time of only 30 days, for the bargain price of ...

1173.83p.

A massive saving of 3.53 GBP. Or around 0.3%.

They are selling so many 2405s that they ran out of stock this week. The estimated ship date on Dell site is now 5-7 days instead of 24 hours.

Just to confirm I've got the right info, 1x6800GT is quite enough to game on one of these, yes? Or does it take SLI to get good performance on one?

Yes you will be able to do good with a 6800GT right now, and do fine in the future.

my 6800 GT (@ Ultra) does quite well at 1920x1200. i can play all current games at 1920x1200 max detail, NO AA/AF tho.

No AA/AF because you don't, or because it can't?

Well guys I think im going to buy a 2405. I've always wanted a large LCD but assumed the Dell ghosted in FPS's. Im a pretty hardcore FPS gamer and I dont want that to happen. My friend told me that the dell does not ghost and I should get it. What do you guys think in games like UT2k4? Is there any noticable ghosting?

Im also going to get a 2005 for my Linux box, but that I dont care about blurring because I dont play games on it. Im also going to get a nice arm for both of these from spacedec. Probably this one: http://www.lcdmonitorarm.com/lcd_arm_10.htm

So let me know what you guys think. Ghosting or not?

i play Halo and Doom3 online and dont notice any ghosting, but UT2k4 is a really really fast game....

if i apply AF, a few places start to lag. if i apply AA, it starts to lag everywhere i go. using 2x AA, i get minor lag everywhere, using 4AA i get major lag everywhere.if i have no AA and AF, everthing is smooth. since my res is so high (1920x1200) i dont really need AA. i really cant see a differance when using AF, so i dont use it.

so no ghosting, can someone that plays ut2k4 confirm this? Because I play that a lot, and ut2k7 will be at the top of my list..

Ghosting is really up to the person looking at the screen, I can't assure you anything because you and I may very well differ in terms of sensitivity to ghosting, but I never noticed it playing UT2K4.

OK now im strongly leaning twords getting a 2405, 2005 for the linux box, and 2 sweet arms...I really hope it doesnt ghost..

Any more confirmations?

I dont see ghosting on my 2405. A mate has a Dell 1905 20ms and that had some serious ghosting to my eyes. Nadda on my 2405.

What I do see occasionally is mild blurring of textures on pans but every LCD does that afaik and tbh even that is a non issue.

The only thing I see that could be considered 'ghosting like' is if say in HL2 I stand infront of another game character and move my mouse from side to side really...REALLY fast, I can see a mild 'Halo' (rather than after image) a couple of pixels wide around the character. I only see this when I actually try to invoke it as described above, so again it is a non issue IMHO.

I just ordered this monitor and I have a question - does it come with a DVI cable or am I going to have to buy one?

Hi, does anyone have technical specs on this monitor? What panel, color accuracy, response time graph etc.?

Thanks
