LAME: SOYO dodging rebates?

Soyo == teh hippies.

It was supposed to be FAR so I figured why not, it'll make a good spare in case anything happened to my P4C800 and keep me while it got RMA'd or whatever. I didn't figure on the  part. If Newegg really is going to make good on it and then just deal with Soyo themselves, then more happy points for them.

Haha, I bet Soyo was thinking that only "oh so few" people would actually submit their rebates. Like maybe 10%. Then, you get this in the office "OH MY GAWD! 90%!! WE AREN'T PREPARED TO DEAL WITH THE SHEER VOLUME!! Boss, what do we do?"

Boss: "DENY DENY DENY!!! And make them all resubmit and see what happens. Maybe we'll end up honoring only 10% like we had aimed for."

What happens is it makes a bunch of techs pissed off so they don't buy Soyo again for another 5 years, and tell everyone they know not to buy Soyo again, and recommend to their companies not to spec Soyo parts, and...yeah. Just paying out the damn rebates promptly would have been a good idea.

not like soyo is in motherbaord anymore

I always wondered what kind of a company SOYO was in terms of motherboards, so you know, I got my "chance" to check one out for "free". Well, I've heard reports that their motherboards are crappy, and I'm not just saying this because of the rebate deal. Like they are on par with ECS and those cheapo $25 motherboards. Now I'm afraid of even using the damned board, like the caps might blow and take out everything with it  Soyo? RMA? nah fuck it.

Thank you for contacting Newegg. We are aware of the ongoing Soyo rebate issues, we have an agent here who is working with Soyo in order to help get our customers their rebates. I have forwarded your information to the agent who is now handling the Soyo rebates. We have been instructed to tell you that you should receive an email directly from Soyo in 1 - 2 weeks. If you do not receive this email, please let us know at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and there will be an immediate resolution. Thanks for reminding me... Today makes 2 weeks without any contact from soyo. Let's see what the egg can do.

So almost 7 months later finally both of our rebates are approved according to the webpage and we may actually see checks soon! Note to everyone submitting rebates... send them in via certified mail!!!!! That way you have proof they received it and they cannot lie and say they 'lost' them.

I picked up one, filled it out and sent everything in. Should have photocopied everything or sent it registered mail, because they shafted me on the rebates as well. Never again on the rebate thing for me.

I photocopied everything and sent it certified mail. I also included a bag of dicks for the Soyo employees to eat now that it's been 7 months since I mailed it and still no rebate.

Since this thread got bumped anyway, it's worth commenting that a week or so ago Newegg finally reimbursed me for my rebate after several months of telling me they would do so eventually.

nice. i should email them again about it then.

im owed 80 or something for the 865pe i got from them

and also 160 for the 875p i got from zzf

that's what.. 240!! i need to get back?? a quarter G. fucking a

don't email them, they'll just give you some lame excuse about how they forwarded it to so and so, who will then either tell you to do something you already did months ago or just not respond to you at all.

call them, tell them THEY have been giving you the run around and don't get off the phone until they do something besides just forward it.

will do, i really hope this stupid rebate gets here.

edit: jsut called newegg, the lady said shed email soyo, and they will email within the next 48 hours. if i get nothing by the end of the week, im gonna call newegg and really get on their asses about this rebate deal.

I sent both rebates in separately. The verifyrebate website approved both rebates months ago but never receive a cent. Last week I checked again, and one rebate mysteriously disappeared. The other one shown as "Check sent"

I purchased and sent my rebate forms 10 months ago (08/2005) and hadnt heard anything from anyone, so i called newegg and they said they would refund my money!

yay newegg

Just wanted to let you all know that I too, recieved the "checks(gifts) sent" message on the verify website. I haven't been home in a while so i'm not entirely sure I actually have the checks. Will write back if I get them.

anyone else here order the soyo board from zipzoomfly? I'm seeing lots of postings from the newegg customers, but I can't be the only one who did this...

Same here. She said she would put me on the "Soyo List"

I called NewEgg on Thursday. Told them about the rebate. Told them I resubmitted my rebate claim 4 times. Told them I emailed the soyocomplaints@newegg email with no reply. The woman was very polite and took my name and number and said they would get back to me. She called back an hour later saying I would be refunded the $45 the way I paid. Last night I got $45 PayPal from Newegg.

I am a satisified and happy customer after 7 months of waiting.

Edit: I am the OP on this thread, finally some of us are getting vindication!

Good news.

After seeing some of you get your money back directly from Newegg I decided to whine a little more. It got me this:

Dear Mr. Byrd,

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

We sincerely apologize for the recent delay and inconvenience of this Soyo rebate. We truly understand the amount of frustration that you have endured thus far. Nevertheless, Newegg will continue to stand behind our loyal customers to ensure the complete and total customer satisfaction for every purchase.

Under normal circumstances, we would request that you contact Soyo for further assistance with this rebate. However, we are certain that this attempt for resolution has already been done, to no avail. Therefore, please allow Newegg to make an exception for you and honor this rebate amount as a courtesy for a valued customer.

A credit request has been issued in the amount of $70.00. All refunds/credits are placed back on to your credit/debit card. Your card issuer will require 3-5 business days once the refund/credit is issued to fully process the transaction and make the funds available.

Once again, we thank you for your continued patience. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to respond to this email.

Thank you,
Adam

after 8 months both rebates for the soyo mobo are finally here in my hand. Now I can stop bickering. Good luck to the rest.

If Soyo screws me from the rebates I will make it my personal mission to DESTROY this company. Soyo has sold so many motherboards via Newegg, Mwave, and MicroCenter by using this FAR method. If they don't pay out, they will have then defrauded thousands of people. Many state attorney generals will be after their ass and you can bet all the nerds ripped off by Soyo will band together to use their collective powers of retribution.

If a company is doing FAR on the majority of their products they probably already are screwed. No need for you to take any action.

I rarely get in on FAR deals for that reason though. Most of them are never paid because the company shifts ownership or enters chapter 11 in which case you're reduced to the status of powerless creditor and you'll never see a dime of the rebate. Product quality is usually terrible too - why else would they be going under?

160 for the 875p here

i just got off the phone with newegg, after tons of calls, i finally recieved 35 bucks back from newegg. ive made all my money back, i sold the bord to a friend for 65 when i figured id go a64, so that 35 makes up fr the money i lost. hopefully ill get the other 40 soon. all i hafta say is Thanks Newegg.

I just got a -$90 invoice from newegg. That is THE BEST customer service I've ever seen. I hope they stop carrying Soyo products. I'll never buy soyo again.

I got my money back as well. $90 in the form of 2x$45 checks in the mail :) Thanks Newegg. Never going Soyo again.

I hadn't realized so many other people were having problems with Soyo Rebates. I bought a Soyo SY-P4i865PE+V1.0 motherboard Mobo on 9/1/04 and still nothing received. Sent both rebate forms in same envelope as the instructions said and apparently Soyo "lost" one of them because only the $40 rebate showed on their website. They tell me to send the $35 one in again, I do so and nothing after 3 months. I didn't even receive the $40 one. Now verifyrebate.com is ignoring my emails (still getting the automated response).

According to soyogroup.com, their rebates are handled by rebatehouse.com, I emailed them hoping for a response. If I don't get nothing then I will shoot off an email to newegg.com about it. Sucks for newegg though, I wonder if they'll continue to sell Soyo products (I guess it depends on how many people got screwed over by them).

Hellz yeah!! I must've emailed Staples like 4 times for my 75 cent rebate on a 4-pack of white-board markers. Then, again... it was an easy rebate, so I didn't have to send anything in (ie. waste 37 cents on a stamp for a 75 cent rebate).

And guess what... the easy rebate wasn't so easy!!! Bah!

Good luck Soyo peepz!

lol, for some reason two of my staples easy rebates were denied for a Wireless B router that I bought (I forgot the reason but it was BS), so I emailed them and the next day they said they were sorry, both rebates approved and checks arrived in a week. Stapleseasyrebates = good in my book.

Well, I just got off the phone with Newegg and they are finally giving me a refund - It's only been a year since I bought the stupid mobo, lol! But I thank Newegg for having such excellent customer service and I piss on Soyo's head. :D

Newegg also sent me a refund check after soyo screwed me over. I guess that's why the egg is #1 in the customer service department.

When I ordered my Soyo BayOneXP 6-1 media card reader (big mistake) back in September of 2004, they had it for sale and w/$40 rebates. I was hoping for a rebate in 12-14 weeks like it said. I havn't received even a bit of that money. Should I just forget it (that purchase, was my last from Tiger. I got screwed on shipping) or do I make a friendly call to Wendsday morning?

Anyone got any love from the folks at Zip Zoom Fly? They no longer have a CS email address - using a web form now - so I called in. Have not heard of anyone getting a bit of TLC from the ZZF yet.

After going through this hell myself, I'm happy to say that Newegg seems to be picking up Soyo's slack.

I originally ordered a P4 motherboard in Nov '04, $90 FAR. Sent in both (2 $45), registered on verifyrebate. They then sat "in processing" for a good 6 months, after which the system decided that I had, in fact, not sent them a damn thing. Called Newegg several times during this wait, with the response of "we're aware and working on it. expect to hear from Soyo." I didn't have much hope of seeing my money back at this point, but I figured I'd give it another shot. Called Newegg about 10 minutes ago; I explained the situation and the phone rep (after doing some digging) passed me on to her superior, who refunded the $90 back to my credit card. No ranting required, no demands of satisfaction, no hassle (well...other than the 6 month wait).

Reminded me of why I buy from them, and why I will continue to do so.

sweet just saw this thread and immedately called newegg, they refunded me the 75 within 3 business days they said.

ZZF says that they are in a court battle with soyo to get them to honor these rebates, so until a resolution comes about there they are not refunding anything at this time.

sweet.
