X800XTPE for $420

Those are cards from ATI themsevles. Gigabyte / Xtasy etc will most likely have them sooner, or so I've heard. ATI themselves have a later date.

This is true. I spoke with ATI on the phone today. The rep told me that they are more concerned with fufilling 3rd party vendors more then they are doing their direct sales. She said places like OEM, Visiontek etc will probably get them out much sooner.

Kinda makes sence. Its better for ATI to fufill an order for a few thousand cards to dell and company than it is to sell joe shmo 1 or 2 cards.

Indeed, I'm hoping to see them more available around September. It does look like we're seeing more 6800U/OC's available as well. Only time will tell...

Well, here's my experience so far with the Dell deal.

I placed an order on Friday night for 3 cards and got no confirmation e-mail. Called Monday and spoke with a someone who could not find the order at all. Ordered 3 cards right then and there and received no confirmation e-mail and was told they were in stock.. Called Tuesday for a status on the order and e-mail and got an order number and was told again they were in stock. Checked the website ant the order number didn't show up at all between then and tonight, nor did a confirmation e-mail show up. Called back again tonight and got put through to another rep after I said I wanted to cancel. I spent 15 minuits on hold. I was told by that person I had to talk to someone else and was transfered. I spent 45 minuits this time on hold, after which that person told me I had to call another phone number altogether to cancel ot get a status. When I called they were closed. Needless to say I was pissed. The order will be promptly canceled in the morning.

There are now 2 eVga 6800GT's and 1 eVga 6800 Ultra on the way, as well as a PC Power and Cooling 510 PS to handle the Ultra. I had been waiting a while already to buy an X800XT when I placed an order for the Gateway deal (which I canceled after a month of waiting patiently), and wasted enough time waiting about 3 more weeks for stock to start showing up at REASONABLE prices. Snagged the GT's for $398 and the Ultra for $518. Sorry ATI, NVidia has won this round for availiability (and feature set too).

But not HL2 Performance :)
http://www.gamers-depot.com/hardware/video_cards/source/002.htm

Anyway tho my experience thus far is somewhat similar, ordered on web friday.. got immediate first email but never got an order number/confirmation email.. called first thing monday talked to a guy confirmed they were in stock, ordered 2, immediaetly got order number and customer number.. and just waiting until tuesday (24th) to see what happens.

if you guys want to get shafted it's your choice. some of us are just trying to give friendly advice because believe or not, we care, and we've had the same experience with CDW and Gateway.

this nasty attitude from some of you make us wonder why we bother though.

god i feel like a parent watching their kid smack a beehive after they've been told not to.

ugh...

Recapping: :)

He checked the records and found no card ordered. Next he took the order for the card, apologized for the failed web order, put me on hold for a minute while called the warehouse and confirmed they were in stock, authorized the discount price of $416.66 plus state taxes of $38.54, and also authorized free priority shipping.

Now under order status on Dell's site: :(

This information is current as of Friday, August 20, 2004.Delayed Items

Currently one or more items are backordered. Every effort is being made to complete the order.

SKU: <> A0381920 Quantity: 1
Description: <> Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition :

Perhaps it was too good to be true. Still, it was worth a try.

Now to look into this "GT" I see people discussing. If the X800XT truly is endlessly I'll probably return to the Nvidia camp and plant one of those power sucking, slot blocking, futureproof Nvidias. I've always liked the bleeding edge.

Anyone gone with the new dual card PCI solutions?

Everyone should be prepared for a long wait but Dell usually delivers. They had a sweet deal on a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens for my camera last September that retailed for around $1600. A bunch of people ordered it for a crazy price of around $1124. I know they took a hit on each one they sold at that price but after 3 weeks it did ship.

I wish us all luck in this deal and for a speedy shipment.

Really though I doubt dell is taking a loss on these, they had them listed in their system (note not webpage) as $464 and change when I called to talk to the guy, which is pretty close to ATI's msrp of $499.. then they just applied a 10% discount to get em to 416...

yah my order status states that its backordered as well. When i made the order the lady told me that there were in stock. How can this be?!?! If they go on backorder they should email everyone and at least give them a new ETA. Ive heard people say that the card wont ship till october or november.. damnit. Dell needs to send something officially out updating customers.

3 weeks?

I thought it was more like 3 months by the time that people recieved their lenses.

I remember that because I bought one of those lenses from a member on the Fred Miranda forums who originally ordered two lenses.

he then got tired of waiting and "thought" he had canceled his order. he then went out and bought a lens from a different vendor.

then one day out of the blue, (like 2 months later) UPS delivered his two lenses from Dell and he had an un-expected $2200 charge on his credit card from those idiots at Dell.

needless to say he say was pissed but luckily he sold them both pretty quickly and still made a decent profit from all his troubles w/ Dell.

Talked to Dell rep this morning, he now shows 289 cards in stock, and says that its totally possible for our orders to show as backordered right now even tho they are supposed to ship in the next couple days. He also said its usual for items to ship anywhere from 3-5 days after the estimated shipping date.. told me if I dont get it by friday to give a call.

Looks good guys!!
Now if we can only get HL2 released...

Oh that would be so sweet... *fingers crossed*

Edit: I also have verbal confirmation from Dell that they are now in stock and will ship tomorrow. I sure hope they're right...

Yes, and I am willing to fight to the last drop of your blood. :D

Seriously though, nothing to lose here, except some elevated cortisol levels, blood pressure, maybe some gray hairs. But if you doodz can get this card for $420, I'm going to be jealous (except when playing Doom 3, LOL).

Had I seen this thread in time, I might not be switching to nVidia. Oh well...

awesome.

for those who ordered by phone, did they ever send you an email confirmation? I never received one. All i got was my order number and an est. ship date from the sales rep. I just want to make sure they dont screw anything up.

i had to request an email confirmation when i ordered by phone but i did receive it.

I've tried every link above to Dell to try to find the X800Xt and get no where. Even went to their home, business, healthcare... sites and couldn't find it. Then I called and got set up with a business account, they even gave me my own account manager. Big help he and two others were. Told me they would give me bigger discounts than I could get online. Great, but they can't locate the product. Where are you all finding this information at Dell? I'm as desperate as the next man, but geez, I'm damned near losing my sanity in this quest for a resonably priced XT or Ultra. :(

I think Dell has pulled it from being able to be sold until they get an adequate supply to fill all the orders that they currently have. I did mention the [H] effect when I posted this, so I guess it happened.

from previous reports by others on these forums, dell has removed this product from their site and it seems to no longer be available. i checked myself and was able to confirm that. of course it may be made available again at a later date but who knows.

well if i dont get it by friday i am going to cancel my order and pick up a 6800 GT at a local store. i've been all over dallas and cant find any x800XT's or 6800 ultras. its looking like a GT will have to do for a while.

well it's not like the GT is a bad card...I was going to get one to hold me over till I could get a hold of an Ultra...but this GT clocked straight to Ultra speeds...so now I don't really think it's worth the extra $100...

i ordered mine on 8-13 and recieved this e-mail a few days ago

still only a few days off from the initial ship date of 8-24 that was given to me in the confirmation e-mail i first got so i'm still optimistic at the moment.

I received my x800xt PE from Best Buy on 06-15-04. I consider myself one of the lucky few after reading all of these threads.

well i bought a 6800 GT from Comp USA. last one they had. i am on the phone now with dell trying to cancel my order.

edit: can anyone who canceled this order tell me how in the hell they did it? i have now been transferred 3 times and i am now back to an automated menu even tho they said they were transferring me to a PERSON that could cancel my order. i am now holding again *sigh*

well after getting the run-around i finally got it cancelled with a reference number and the person i spoke with name and extension :) kinda upset i wont be getting the card but i have a shiney new 6800 GT to play with :) looks like its back to nvidia once again for me!

When did you place an order?

edit: perhaps each person's order date is the cause of all these conflicting reports?

It's still a good deal on the card and other than Doom3, the XT-PE and 6800U seem to run neck and neck in most games. I think I'll hold out and wait for Dell to ship it to me.

Yes you certainly are.

Just another note, I was in my Premier account (University Shopper) and was looking around at the systems from Dell which still have an AGP slot. Dell appears to have removed all traces of XT-PEs even from new builds. If you go with the newer chipsets (915, 925), pci-e XT-PEs are listed but with a note that it will delay your build.

I'm betting Dell doesn't plan to offer any more AGP XT-PEs after this... Just a guess though.

what is this? you'll get a delay with Dell on computer hardware (or anything else for that matter)?

alert the media! :D

i ordered thru the phone and 2 days ago, i got a notification via phone that it should ship no later than 09/07/04 so im hoping this is the case!
