I've been trying to install XP Pro (OEM) on a new computer. I used FDISK, the put in the XP disc. I let the disc run and format the hard drive, then the computer rebooted to go into the GUI section of the install part... however, a small bar pops up on screen and says "loading drivers" - but...
Hmmm... I didn't know that MS or NewEgg would replace it. Does it matter that I bought it in 2002? I've RMA'ed hardware to NewEgg before, but never after a couple of years, so I don't know if they'll fix it.
Also, does it matter that it's an OEM key? I seem to remember that with OEM keys...
After getting my new box built and running, I've been having major headaches getting WinXP Pro loaded up and running. I tried to use the XP Pro disc I bought from NewEgg a few years back when I built my last box (it's an OEM version). However, I got a ton of errors... then I looked at the disc...
I just built a new system, and have been having major problems getting WinXP installed and working. Here are the system specs:
Shuttle XPC SN25P
Athlon 64 3500+
Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL
Western Digital WD2500JD
ATI Radeon X800XL
NEC 16X Dual Layer DVD Burner (ND-3520A)
I put the system...
Agreed, get an A64...
However, if you still want to use your 9800XT, you're going to want to get an nForce3 mobo. nForce3 mobos still have AGP, whereas nForce4 mobos are PCI-Express.
Just my 2 cents.
My old case is an Antec Plus 1080AMG. It's a very solid case, and I'd recommend if you need a large ATX tower. However, it's really, really heavy, so that's why I'm going the SFF route this time.
Actually, I just ordered a system around this budget. My last computer had a faulty power supply that ended up burning up and killing quite a few parts of my last system, so I very recently ordered a new system... just the computer itself, like you. Here's the spec list:
Shuttle XPC SN25P...
Well, this is my first post on these boards... although I'm familiar with many other tech boards, and I'm a regular reader of the [H]...
Anyways, I'm working on building a new computer. My old one (Athlon XP 2500, Abit NF7-S, Radeon 9700 Pro) just was killed due to a faulty power supply, so...
