XP Pro install lockups

I've been trying to install XP Pro (OEM) on a new computer. I used FDISK, the put in the XP disc. I let the disc run and format the hard drive, then the computer rebooted to go into the GUI section of the install part... however, a small bar pops up on screen and says "loading drivers" - but completely locks up - at 34 minutes.

I know its not a hardware problem, because I checked everything out throughly.

Any ideas on this one???

Strange that you still use FDISK, but no matter :p

How long have you waited at the loading drivers screen? It sometimes takes a few minutes. Also, how does the bottom of your disc look? If it has any scratches it may have corrupted some files. You could try wiping it down with a damp cloth (wipe straight from the center to the edge, NOT circular), and see if that helps.

I know you said you checked it out thouroughly... if the media isnt damaged, first thing I think of on an install lockup is a hardware issue, eithr a page fault error with the ram or a heat issue at the cpu or ram or both.... I'm assuming all the hardware you have is on the hardware compatibility list?
