Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
You really only need 802.11b/g - I don't think any hotspot uses 802.11a.
I haven't used Starbucks or Barnes & Noble, but I do use the local coffee shop setup - they charge, but it's reasonable, especially if you pay for a year upfront. The university has an open WiFi network - and it's...
A microfiber cloth and (if needed) lens cleaner - that's all I use. There are some monitor cleaners that will work as well - but if they don't specifically say for use w/ LCDs on the package, I'd stay away from them.
"Deer Park Alpha" was the codename for the Firefox 1.5 alpha builds, definitely not more efficient than finalized code. FF 1.5 is now in Beta, and you can download it from www.mozilla.org.
The Turion is a Socket 754 chip, whereas the dual core models at present are all Socket 939. If AMD produces a dual core Turion in Socket 754 at a later date, then you would be able to swap it out (in theory - it might require a BIOS update). However, to the best of my knowledge, all announced...
This sounds more like spyware than a virus. If you want to boot into safe mode, you do't go through the BIOS. Once you start up the PC, keep pressing F8 until you get a screen with various options to load Windows. Select safe mode, and let it boot the rest of the way.
As long as the motherboard you want to install it in is also a Socket 754, there shouldn't be an issue. You might not have the same power management features on the motherboard, but other than that I don't see any issues. I have heard of people putting desktop A64s in notebook mobos that...
Are you referring to the Tom's Hardware Guide & Anandtech tests? Both of them were basically discredited, especially THG. For some reason, THG tested them head to head in a desktop configuration instead of a mobile config. There were some other irregularities and discrepancies involved in the...
I do know that AMD announced an X2 5000+ this week - but I don't think it will hit stores until January. You'll probably see AMD move everything but the Semprons to dual core by March or April, and transition the Semprons over by next Christmas.
Considering that the Pentium M just edges out the Turion in head-to-head comparisons, I don't see how it could match the X2 in any fashion whatsoever. Also, the reason you don't find the Turion in "high-end" models is because a.) AMD never positioned the Turions as a high-end part; and b.) they...
Maybe it's just my laptop, but I don't have any heat issues when gaming on my laptop - even if I OC the videocard. I do carry a lot of files and stuff between work and home, and my laptop has become an automatic accessory to carry with me. Whether I'm killing Horde in WoW or running Photoshop...
I completely scrapped my 32-bit install of XP and went all 64-bit. Haven't looked back or regretted it since. Printer support has really come around as of late (even Lexmark is getting in on it), and the only thing I can't get a driver for is the modem (which I never use anyways).
Dual-Core is most likely out for now - but there is the Mobile Athlon64, which many Arima-based laptops use (including models by Gateway, eMachines, Voodoo, and Sager). The Gateway 7510GX has the Mobile Athlon64 3700+ and an ATI Mobility Radeon x300 w/ 128MB dedicated RAM. 7200RPM drives for...
