I can tell you for a fact that HP laptops are terrible. Amost 1/3 of them that Are new that I see at my store are Deffictive. Due to the touchpad or the dvd burner.

I'm sorry but its time to replace the mobo and power supply. Some times electricity will jump circuits trying to ground out quickly. I would just replace both to be on the safe side. And if you lucky it didnt nuke the ram proc or video card.
I'm building a new system and I love Xp but hate Vista. Is XP64bit a good upgrade option or is it really buggy? Should I just bite the bullet and install vista? I have lots of Xp license's. I want to hear my options before I buy something that will just not be supported a year down the road...
