Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm not a bigadv folder, so maybe I'm missing something here, but why is everyone so upset?
This isn't cryptocurrency, the points you get have less value than reddit karma. Your machines will be doing the same amount of science, I assume at least. You just won't get as big of worthless point...
Broke 20 million at some point. I haven't really been keeping up, just some old computers running in the server room. I might have to see how much crunching power I can scrounge up again though,
Today I got my forums team in the sub 1,200 rankings on extreme overclocking. It's now ranked, and I have a fancy name spot at the bottom. 8.2 million points to get there.
I'm currently running ubunutu on a Oracle VirtualBox setup with a pair of l5520's. I could upload a copy if you wanted. It's not completely trimmed down, as I haven't finished the tuning yet, but I'm seeing about a minute longer speeds than when I ran it native.
I'm thinking a big problem is case airflow with something that small. I'd suggest reapplying the thermal paste as others suggested first, and then get some better case fans and make sure they're set up right. You want a push-pull system though the case, with a slight negative pressure.
I wish I would have known this before I built my 2p rig. I could put one of these together for about $50 more than I spent on a 2p 1366 setup that can't do bigadv. (though folding wasn't it's main purpose, still would have been nice.)
Alrighty, update time.
I have HFM installed at work, and it creates a website here: http://spleenbegone.com/folding
It also uploads the log files.
Now, from home, I have HFM as well, and have set up clients to pull the log files. The problem is, only the server running v6 is actually showing up...
I have one running 4.5, 1.3v. I use it for work 10 hours a day, and fold on it the other 14. Hasn't been off in a few weeks, so I'm pretty sure it's stable.
Temps get up to 68* or so on warmer days, but the cooling is just a 212 with a single fan.
HT is on, and set to run at full.
I ended up setting up everything with v6 and Kraken, and it's working with 30k PPD or so, but I'd still like to know why v7 doesn't work proper.
I just hooked up a system using two l5520's and I'm having a few issues. Thread 1 is only getting 50% usage, while threads 3, 9, and 12 are showing 0%
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and the latest version released for it. I'm also getting what seems to be low PPD, 14k, which I imagine is partially due...
