UEFI Firmware Update available for "blank screen on boot" for RTX 4080/4090

I prayed and decided to try to boot it again and one monitor worked! Specs said no integrated graphics I thought?! So I was able to check for the update (already updated it said) and install driver, and install bios update from nvidia. It is working now! I don't understand it. I went from no...

UEFI Firmware Update available for "blank screen on boot" for RTX 4080/4090

Thanks. I firmly seated the GPU in the MB slot and the power cable. My power supply has the special 40 series connector for the GPU and I securely attached it. The GPU has RGB lights which light up so it is getting power but isn't outputting a monitor signal at all apparently. As soon as I...

UEFI Firmware Update available for "blank screen on boot" for RTX 4080/4090

Thanks but my MB ASUS Prime trx40 -pro has no integrated graphics to switch to. My screens are totally black all the time so I cannot see POST, BIOS anything so I cannot select or change anything. I gave all my RTX 4080 info & serial to ASUS support and they are no help - check cable, unplug...

UEFI Firmware Update available for "blank screen on boot" for RTX 4080/4090

Thanks but how do you run the update tool if your monitors are blank and you cannot see anything? I installed a new 4080 yesterday and my screens are black (no signal) but the card lights up. The 3060 I removed was working fine. I have ASUS 4080 TUFF and ASUS MB TRX40 Pro. If I were to remove...

Anyone went strictly to SSDs only yet ?

The only machines that still have any spinners are my old ones and a win98 P2 gaming that I was trying to convert to SSD after the HDD failed but haven't been able to get it to work and gave up for lack of time. My newest machines have a pair of NVME + several SSDs but now that Samsung has...

A disk read error occurred Press control alt del

After a few more attempts, I put all the cables back as they originally were and rebooted. Sometimes it boots to the select windows startup screen. I selected normal startup and it went to a single screen low res OS. It worked for a little bit while I looked at some settings and then it...

A disk read error occurred Press control alt del

I had a GTX Titan 6GB I suspected was the problem with the graphics suddenly going crazy and then freezing and causing a driver error message (see 1st pic) so I ordered a new exact replacement titan GPU. In the meantime I put the computer through a number of hard reboots via reset button or...

    additional RAM causing crash?

Well drat. I'm sorry I wasn't able to do this troubleshooting earlier. The silver ones gave a ton of memtest errors running with the gold ones but perhaps if we went at it backwards with CMOS cleared do the silver first and then add the gold to the silver they might have adjusted...

    additional RAM causing crash?

Thank you again. Darn oh well my return period was almost up so I shipped them this morning else I would have tried this. Question : since the sticks are all identical (same model/specs/timings) why is it that your idea would work? Not doubting the idea - just trying to learn. I realize...

    additional RAM causing crash?

A huge thanks to everyone. You guys are always graciously helpful. I took the silver kit out and put back in the gold kit and it was able to boot again. I'm sending the silver kit back. Too many problems to track down and they all go away once there is no silver RAM in the PC

    additional RAM causing crash?

I removed the silver sticks out of both PCs and ran memtest for 10 hours on both with just the 4 gold sticks in each one. No errors so far. So the two gold kits may be good. Then I removed the set of 4 gold sticks from one PC I put the kit of 4 silver sticks in and it only boots to a black...
