    SSD raid controller card

I currently have a HighPoint RocketRAID 2720SGL with 5 OCZ Agility 3 120 GB drives in raid 5, i am looking at returning this card and going with something more powerful. Looking for this to be my boot drive with games on it. After finding good cables and the correct PCI-e slow i am getting...

Poor performance with 2x Vertex 3 stripped on RocketRAID 2720SGL

Sorry, wasn't trying to thread jack or confuse anyone, just thought it would be better to have two posts about the same card in the same thread.

Poor performance with 2x Vertex 3 stripped on RocketRAID 2720SGL

The bios lists for raid card lists their speed. ok think i made an improvement - PCI_E5 supports PCIE 1.1 x4 speed only found that on my mobo, so moved it to one of the PCIE v2 x16 slots that should support the card and my speeds are alot better. (see...

Poor performance with 2x Vertex 3 stripped on RocketRAID 2720SGL

so finally got new cables, now they recognize the drives as sata 600 . still getting poor performance in raid 5. and fw is 1.2 on card and the drives are actually agility 3s , this is no where close to what I would expect out of them though.

Poor performance with 2x Vertex 3 stripped on RocketRAID 2720SGL

I got this card with the goal of doing a RAID 5 with with 5 120 GB OCZ Agility 3 drives. I first tried setting it to write through and got better result ( 300 MB avg read) than write back ( 120 avg read) and neither of these are anywhere near the single drives read/write speed. I am not sure how...

    1 SSC-D0128SC-2100 vs 2 SSDSA2MP040G2R5 in raid 0

Diskbench by nodesoft. so now I am trying to decide throwing 1 in work laptop, or sell all 3 and buy a better ( bigger/faster ) one.

    1 SSC-D0128SC-2100 vs 2 SSDSA2MP040G2R5 in raid 0

it makes me kinda sad because this was supposed to be faster, I guess, they should have checked specs first

    1 SSC-D0128SC-2100 vs 2 SSDSA2MP040G2R5 in raid 0

So over the weekend I was at PAX and I was at the Intel booth, and I mentioned I just build a new rig and regretted my WD SSD the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820250002 , apparently he was the head of SSD marketing so he offered to give me 2 x...

a little late in reply , but i tried both the onboard esata port and the esata port that just connect to the sata controller, so it is no different than opening the computer and attaching directly.

    New netbook with SSD drive.

I was recently looking for a netbook and noticed most netbooks no longer have ssd drives, which seems like step back. In fact I had a hard time finding any current gen netbook with an SSD drive. Are there any current netbooks that are sold with ssd drives?

    dying hitachi deathstar

yeah i think this was kinda random. Was just bad luck because I was telling myself to transfer everything last week to one of my other drives i am transferring. so I would not have to even pull it from the last case I also may have jinxed myself because I told a friend 2 weeks ago I have...

    dying hitachi deathstar

Is there any reason why the heads would keep parking themselves? is it possible its the controller and not the mechanical part of the drive? I am wondering if I should try buying another drive for the controller for 50 or just go with professional recovery. I found one place that would do it for...

    dying hitachi deathstar

I know it is risky to open the drive outside a clean room, i just wanted to see if had actual scratches in the platters. since this is not the case i was wondering if I could try swapping the platters to another drive in case this was a mechanical failure and not the platters magnetic signal...

sorry I guess I should reword that, I was wondering if anyone was able to recover data from a similar state by swapping the controller, or swapping platters to another drive?
