    The "paper" may of been a thermal pad or something to protect it from scratches, I've never had a thermal pad. I use as5 myself.. But you really should put something on it thermal pad or compound, either is better then nothing

    Then you should take the heatsink off and remount it using the compound they probably sent you with the cpu..even the worst compound will be better then nothing.. And with no compound or pad there, it May even be harmful? It may be slowing down(assuming you have a p4) because p4's...

    I think i'll hang onto it. I've read around these forums a bit,and i've come up with a few questions. Say your mounting ramsinks.. If some of the compound get's into the circuit on the memory, it shorts it? And if so, Does it destroy the board forever, Or can you clean it off and it work...
