4600 with 4200 heatsink?

Nope, whats the point? There's no point trying to overclock a Ti4600 and doing so could get you bad performance in Doom 3.

Mostly trying to get the temps down more..I can't exactly check what the temp is with PNY card(do they even have a chip on it for that?)

but it feels pretty hot..

I think i'll hang onto it.

I've read around these forums a bit,and i've come up with a few questions.

Say your mounting ramsinks.. If some of the compound get's into the circuit on the memory, it shorts it? And if so, Does it destroy the board forever, Or can you clean it off and it work again?

After a careful glance, it looks like both of them follow the same pattern w.r.t. location of components, so you could probably put the MSI heatsink on the PNY just fine (though you would need to do something about the fan plug, since they look different).

As far as thermal compound, what happens in the scenario you mention depends on what stuff you're using. I really like Arctic Silver Ceramique, since it's almost as good as AS5, but isn't electrically conductive or capacitive. That way, if you make a mistake or make a mess, there isn't really anything that can go wrong. Damage from other types of compounds shorting things out *might* happen; I have accidentally gotten thermal stuff in between ram contacts, and had to carefully clean it out with a very very tiny screwdriver. Whether or not there is permanent depends on where on the chip the goo lands (basically, are you lucky or not).
