There is 1 solution around this mess. You can actually buy a copy of AnyDVD HD and you're problems will be fixed. It essentially strips off all HDCP content and lets you play both HD/Blu-Ray discs on any non-HDCP compliant hardware.
I've found that its ok for an interim solution, but it ain't...
Yeah its pretty wierd, but that's how the thing works.
I'm still don't know what to get...the SLi (pray for performance and noise, but watch Blu-Ray in all its glory) or keep my GTX (and kinda waste my Blu-Ray)
Sr7,
Thanks for your analysis. You brought up some nice points about the 256bit vs 384bit bus. I wasn't aware of that. I have researched alot of benchmarks of 8800GT SLi'd vs 8800GTX and for the majority of games, the SLi config wins hands down @ 2560x1600, sometimes by an increase of 20-30...
Hi all,
I am running a 8800GTX + 30" + Blu-Ray on my Dell XPS720 and I am having currently having a trouble displaying Blu-Ray@2560x1600. I can only play it at 1280x800.
Dell have acknowledged this issue and as a result have have given me the opportunity to replace my 8800GTX with 2 x...
Betrayer00GT,
To be honest, I am not 100% satisified with the problem. AnyDVD HD is merely just a quick fix more than a real solution. I am running Vista Home Premium. I have contacted Dell and they aware of the situation and they are working out what they can do for me.
The only option I...
After googling an hour or 2, I think i have an adequate fix!
The HDCP protection is embedded into PowerDVD, so by using AnyDVD HD which removes all this nonsense is a way to get around it!

Just downloaded the trial and watched Shooter in 2560x1600...
If you're in a situation like me, don't buy Blu-Ray because you won't get to enjoy the full glory of what Blu-Ray was meant to be.
Because playing it in 1280x800 mode is just about the same as DVD quality which we get for like $30USD, than the $350USD I spent for the damn thing!!
Thanks for the reply SuperKeijo!
I think your right. I put the res down to 1280x800 and it plays.
But isn't this defeating the purpose of having Blu-Ray anyway because we have to scale down the res, half of the native resolution.
This sounds all too retarded. I felt like I just wasted...
Hi everyone,
I just got my new XPS 720 the other day and its great for games! However, I wanted to start using the Blu-Ray drive I got with it, so I went and bought a Blu-Ray movie (Shooter :D)
Anyway, I am using PowerDVD DX which I got with my Dell and when I try to play it, it works for...
I actually am contemplating the exact same issue. I am currently using the 2405 and I wanna go bigger. I think the 2707 is really quite nice, but the res is the same. I use multiple 30" at work and the res is insane. I really wouldn't mind playing CS:S on it. The one thing that's not so great...
Thanks VendettaUF,
Huge help you made me. Just one thing though, you are using an extrenal sound card for that input jack. My sound card is integrated on my Intel motherboard (925X). I don't think I have any input jacks. Does this mean I need to get an external sound card?
Anyway, I will...
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and I just wanted some insight on how you connect the sound to the 2405 via component cable. I use the Dell sound bar and it goes into my Dell via the green, black and yellow plugs. If I use component which I think has 6 connectors, the 2405 has 3 I think, plug...
Yeah I think you guys are right. Looking elsewhere may be a better option. Secondly, I would have to get a new rig with at least a 1900XT or 7800GTX to power games at native with a sub par frame rate.
Hi guys,
I just ordered a 2405 and it should be here in a few days. I bought it because I can play games on my PC on a big screen as well hook up the XBOX 360 to it. What I have been seeing recently is the reviews and photos of people's 3007 and it really dwarfs the 2405. It really looks like...
