XBOX 360 + 2405 + component + sound

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and I just wanted some insight on how you connect the sound to the 2405 via component cable. I use the Dell sound bar and it goes into my Dell via the green, black and yellow plugs. If I use component which I think has 6 connectors, the 2405 has 3 I think, plug 3 of those in the 2405, but what how about the sound?

I have the VGA cable as well but from reading some people's posts, the colours look washed out. I can connect the sound via an adapter thingy that plugs into the 3 green, black and yellow plugs.

So who has their XBOX 360 connected with their 2405 via component with sound?

Hi,

The Dell 2405 does not have speakers so you are going to have to route this to some other sound output device. I have my Xbox connected via component to this screen. Then, I take the Red/White stereo audio jacks and connect them to an adapter that turns it into a thin microphone jack. You should be able to pick up something like this at radioshack or maybe even Best Buy these days. I then, plug this into my Soundblaster X-Fi's input port. Then, in the volume controls in windows, I uncheck the mute box on the line-in input volume bar. This allows me to play my XBox audio over my computer sound system. This is phenominally better then any TV speaker system.

Huge help you made me. Just one thing though, you are using an extrenal sound card for that input jack. My sound card is integrated on my Intel motherboard (925X). I don't think I have any input jacks. Does this mean I need to get an external sound card?

Anyway, I will prowl around for those adapters you mentioned. I actually have 1 for the VGA adapter which drives the sound from the desktop speakers to the VGA adapter.

I don't see how you wouldn't have an input on your onboard sound. They've been standard on sound cards ever since I can remember. Look for a blue input on the back.

What you need is a stereo to mini-plug adapter. They're easy to find.

What the above poster said. I would think your internal sound would have an input. If it doesn't, you'll have to go buy a cheap soundblaster or something. Also, with the right adapters, you could probably jack your speakers directly to the XBox.
