Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I may.
I plan to have a nice long convo with the supervisor since they have Americans on call for people who know their shit.
I may even go back to using HP's cord, as the MSI one is nice, but bulky. I'll just commit to getting an S-Video cord, so it looks decent. I just wanted to play CSS...
WELL, MSI came through, and sent me the REAL cable.
BUT apparantly the OEM graphics card doesn't support HD or component. I hooked it up, set my nView settings, and NOTHING.
I'm apparantly shit out of luck. SO I'll just call HP and demand a 50 dollar check for assorted converters...
I finally got my HP FedEx (the MSI one has been sitting at a California FedEx office for 2 days now) and guess what, they didn't send me the S-Video/Composite Adapter!
THEY SENT ME A SINGLE VIDEO CABLE!
One fucking yellow cord. Insultingly incompetent.
As soon as the real part comes...
MSI called me back and I just put an order in for the cord, 15 bucks with FedEx shipping. Assuming it works, I will call back HP and demand a supervisor, then relay that over the course of 3 phone calls, HP tech support has told me:
- The card doesn't support a component out cable
- The...
Any idea as to whether or not Windows Media Player technically upconverts DVDs played on a PC?
I have a media center, soon to be connected to my HDTV. And until Blu-Ray hits, an upconverted DVD is the closest thing to full HD I can get from my home theater.
Anyone know the nuts and bolts...
Well, it's a matter of the resolutions working moreso than the component being detected. nView has options for TV out at 1080i, so I can safely assume the card supports it. Or at least the software.
I think it will all end up okay. I just want to figure out how I can get the most cash out of...
Indeed. I did call MSI, but I had to leave a message.
Literally RIGHT after hanging up on Hadji at HP, I get a call from MSI. For 15 bucks I buy the cable directly from him and they don't gurantee that it will work with an OEM card. However, it looks JUST LIKE the regular MSI 6600 that...
The real Americans directed me back to India, and the guy just said he'd ship out the cable. However, I have a suspicion that after all of this I'll get another regular S-Video/composite cable. At which time I will fly to India and go psycho on the HP Customer Support building.
Hour and a...
I'm on the phone with HP now. Been on the phone for 30 minutes.
The lady at HP is retarded, since she's Indian and outsourced and has no idea what she's doing.
After 25 minutes of talking in circles, I get her to look up my card in the HP database and she fully admits it says HDTV and I...
Checked newegg, dude. Before I even made the thread. They don't sell one.
I did however find one: http://monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040114&p_id=2525&seq=1&format=2&style=
That claims to be ATi only. I don't see how a 9 pin could be manufacturer specific...
Well, interestingly enough, I have the nine pin, and the mystery is solved.

That's my card. And I Didn't get the approriate converter cord. I got a regular S-Video/Composite, and not the one I was supposed to get. HP screwed me...
I have a 6600 that came along with my HP media center (the PC in question). I really haven't bothered to open up the case and look at the sticker so I can't tell you the precise model. Just a 256 meg 6600 PCIe.
