    Win 7 Weird Sound Issue

Hi, I'm currently running Windows 7 RC and the issue I'm having is that the audio channels are reversed on my system. Audio is coming through HDMI from my Radeon 4870 and the systems onboard audio is disabled from the bios. Sound goes to my Sharp Aquos TV. Sound from cable comes out of...

    Low Fps with 4890?

I'm really surprised that no one considered that the card itself is bad. I know its not nice to think of your brand new part as broken, but it happens. Take it back to the store.

    System crash - Drive related?

Hi, My roommates computer is having a strange issue. Every so often, the system will crash for no apparent reason requiring a restart. When this happens, you can hear the hard drive spin up like the system has just been powered on. Usually, it takes a few tries to get it to boot, but it...

    clean Installing XP Problem!!!!!! help

Its been a while since I reinstalled XP, but I seem to remember the CD saying something like "press any key to boot from CD" right after it starts up. It goes by really fast, and if you miss it, it will just boot to your HD.

[urgent] Can I use Arctic Silver 5 on NB?

What makes you think that the only problem you could have would be it dying instantly? Shorts don't always kill your gear. Also, you're welcome for the help.

[urgent] Can I use Arctic Silver 5 on NB?

You should be fine. Your temps should lower a bit more too as the paste cures. It won't be anything drastic though and you may not notice. If you start experiencing any stability issues at stock speeds or high temps then consider reapplying the paste.

[urgent] Can I use Arctic Silver 5 on NB?

If that's what the AS5 looks like on your chip, then you used WAY too much. The paste should cover the chip die only. I would clean that off and start over. Probably the easiest way to apply it is to put a drop on the center of the chip that's slightly larger than the size of a pinhead...

[urgent] Can I use Arctic Silver 5 on NB?

You'll be fine as long as you did a good job applying the paste. I've been using AS for pretty much anything that needs thermal paste for years and have had nothing but lower temps. Enjoy.

    HDMI to DVI Problems

Do you have another video card you can test with? It doesn't necessarily have to support 4 monitors for the purposes of testing. One or two monitor support should be fine since you're trying to test whether your cable length is going to be a problem. Try something from Nvidia or Ati. As...

    8800gt Volt Mod Question

Hmmm, that's interesting. My card is stable at 700/2000 with or without the bios mod, but if I go as high as 710-715 on the core, even with the mod, ati tool will start to error almost immediately. Its too bad as it seems like you get the most performance increase from increasing core speeds...

    8800gt Volt Mod Question

So I performed the bios volt mod on my 8800gt that I have outfitted with an Accelero S1 and 120mm fan, but I don't seem to have gained any overclocking headroom from stock. I'm pretty sure that volt mod was successful because idle temps went up about a degree from stock, and load temps went...

    So I bought a Samsung 245BW

I initially bought that Westinghouse, but returned it to the store because I felt it was really low quality. I even got it for $329 for boxing day at Best Buy and returned it for the Samsung which cost more. By low quality, I mean that the panel had an obvious defect in the upper right hand...

    Tearing in Games

I've recently bought a Samsung 245bw and am experiencing some tearing in games. It only seems to happen if I run the panel at a non-native resolution. I know that enabling vsync should fix this but it doesn't seem to always work. I don't see any tearing with vsync on at native res. For...

    IBM buying AMD?

Didn't IBM lose their processor business (from Apple) to Intel before they sold off that division? I'm sure that Apple only accounted for a fraction of IBM's overall revenue, but they probably still miss that money. It could be that with reduced interest in the Power architecture IBM wants...
