Hey guys, wasn't sure where to put this question, and it didn't seem technical enough for the bits and bytes networking section:
Last weekend I updated my Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus to windows 8.1 after making sure to update all drivers and bios, followed by doing the same after the update. At...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
I'm looking to create a quiet htpc for the bedroom, tried a mitx, but the noise level on the thing is way too overpowering in the 12x12 room, and it's ended just sitting unused along with the rest of the setup. My...
As someone that only ever planned to play it through one time (I don't understand the want to seemingly grind a game for the sake of grinding it), I really really disagree with you. It was way too easy for someone only looking for just one play through, it was WAY too short for $60 (and...

In your price range and excess bass is just why I can't stand AKGs portable line, but so long as you're bass hungry, you could do worse.
In looking at prebuilt NAS solutions, I've realized that to get any four drive raid box that can do transfer rates even as high as 10miB/s the asking price is about $500 before drives. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure that back in school we were reaching speeds of 100miB/s grabbing off a friends local...
Also, twitch tv isn't built for the demand it receives at all. If you're complaining about trying to watch ign or esl on it, then we can end the thread now. No one gets those streams off twitch without lag. The ones who say otherwise are trolling you.

Thanks very much for the info. Before searching up some pfsense, I do have that whole questions into more questions thing:
Would there still be no penalty for daisy chaining switches? So if I had a gigabit switch on the other end of the computer with two of the ports going into two other...
Hello, I'm looking for some help in improving my home network.
I recently discovered that, when connected through my ddwrt Linksys E3000 to my home's 100mbit connection, enabling any form of QoS tanks my speed to 50/20. Meanwhile, with QoS off, it can hit 85/71. Plugging my computer straight...
Mine has been going on just fine for over a year. I have it in raid 5 and have some separate directories over it. Shares them all without hiccup over smb and can has transfer speeds over any other nas I saw in its price range.
I'm just gonna hijack this question and say my dislikes with it were that it seemed to need a daily wipe to keep running smooth. And although really slick after a wipe, it was immensely frustrating how short of a period that feeling held. Also, it made a zipping noise as the mouse moved over...
I had a raid of four seagate 1.5tbs and while under 3 year warranty lost 3 of the drives, then lost the raid completely with a 2 drive loss shortly after warranty was up. I had a friend with similar experience with his raid. I get it's anecdotal, but it's enough to make me nervous anyway.
