Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I recently purchased a U2414H monitor to replace this old square thing I had from the dark ages.
I'm using the Intel Graphics 4600 integrated on a haswell processor. My motherboard supports HDMI, DVI, and VGA out. The monitor supports HDMI and DisplayPort.
So I connected the monitor via...
Tried a new DVI cable and it worked (?).
So apparently my graphics card driver doesn't like my DVI cable...
Kind of confused, but I guess I'll go with that. Current cable is too short, so ordering a new one off Amazon.
I can actually get into the machine remotely using logmein when the monitor craps out.
For some reason it just stops detecting a monitor on the DVI port when the graphics driver is loaded.
Tried the latest driver from Gigabyte, still no dice...conks out when driver is loaded. Still fine with Generic Microsoft Display driver.
2 errors in Event Viewer (not sure if related):
DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "Unavailable" in order to run...
Yeah - that's what lead me to believe it's a driver issue.
Everything looks fine in safe mode even with the graphics driver installed, no issues.
When I roll back the graphics driver to the generic Microsoft Basic Display Adapter everything is fine in non-safe mode.

Hey guys,
Built a machine with Windows 8.1 Pro and an Intel 4670 processor. I'm just using the Intel 4600 Graphics chip right now - no other video card installed.
For some reason when Windows updates the Intel HD Graphics driver, when the changes are applied, I just get a black screen. It...
Hey guys, I'm a recent convert to the dark side of Mac. I've been using a MacBook Pro (primarily in clamshell mode) at work, and am looking to convert to a Mac at home too.
Right now I'm using a AMD Athlon X4 620 desktop with 8 gigs of RAM and a SSD (not exactly blazing fast by today's...
Follow-up for anyone who stumbles upon this in the future...
It was the toner cartridge. Replaced that and it's working perfectly now. Sucks that the thing died, about 1200 pages before it was due, but glad the entire printer isn't shot ;)
I think the printer is *technically* out of warranty, so I doubt they'd give me the time of day, but I've never dealt with HP support before. Might just be worth it to buy a new cartridge. I thought I was saving money in the long-run with laserjets, but man, even the toner is expensive!
I'm having some problems with my printer that maybe someone can diagnose or help me fix...
It's a HP Laserjet P2015. What happens is when I print something, all of the actual text will be clear, but there will be a bit of a "ghost" about a 3rd of the way down the page from where the font...

It was just 3 years ago, I, a fledgling Computer Science major came here to ask for advice on career opportunities, and despite my rather murky idea of what I wanted to do, I received some excellent advice from you guys. So 3 years later, with some more specific ideas, hopefully I can get some...
