Overall I'm pretty competent in Word, I think -- autogenerating reference text, using fields, etc. -- but one simple issue is driving me nuts.
I'm trying to automatically insert exhibit letters/numbers in-text so they'll update as I delete or add references, e.g.:
Updating each letter...
I can't believe I'm posting this.
OK, maybe I'm off my OCD meds, or maybe it's that my laptop is cursed with a 1024x768 screen, but I can't quite get my FF3 to look the way I want it. To wit:
On the second toolbar, I'd like the Google Toolbar elements (on the right) to butt right up...
I can almost tie my own shoes again! On the downside, EE2 was a losing proposition -- apparently my left hand has Down's. I just can't keep up. Good call on the KOTOR, though. Forgot how genuinely epic that game was.
Galactic Civs 2 got really good reviews. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it...
It probably looked about like that, only my bike is way less awesome. And I wasn't smiling so much.
KOTOR could work. The pause button will come in mighty handy. I'll also have to look into turn-based strat games. I haven't played one of those since Alpha Centauri.
Apparently it was one of those new model ejector seats. I didn't even know the bike had one, but I can't otherwise explain how I managed to separate myself from the bike by a good 20 feet.
Unfortunately, it's the mouse hand. Nothing broken in the other hand; I just scraped the palm clear off...
This weekend I decided to try out the ejector seat on my mountain bike, so now I'm left with a busted wrist and two weeks to kill. Any recommendations for decent games which don't require coordination or timing? I've been looking at Rise of Nations, something along those lines.
Thanks for the advice, all.
Gotten everything working. Here's a rundown in case anybody else has the same problem:
From one side, the problem was a firewall issue. From the other, somehow my network guest permissions were changed. In XP Home, there's no option to fix this directly, so you...
Annoyingly, that works. There's still a weird delay when navigating shared folders -- the window hangs for 5-15 seconds -- but at least things are accessible.
Thanks a bunch. So at this point I just add the DHCP server and machine IPs to Zonealarm's trusted zone?
Thanks for the input. I tried that, but no luck. The problem seems to be that I can't access network computers at all.
I keep telling myself this should be easy.
