Sony 43" x800D XBR43X800D white backgrounds and vertical bands visible as move head?

naw, it's not the VA panel, it's a weird sort of shimmering on the surface of the panel or AG coating. Sort of like the machine that prints the material isn't perfectly smooth and makes the surface slightly non-uniform. Both of the X800Ds I've had have it. I've sort of just gotten used to it...

    Yet another advice thread. 2017 4k 40inch?

Definitely true for the KU6290/6300. The Sony X800D is pretty good in that regard. It's good enough that it's not bothering me while the KU6290 very much did. The only real issue with the X800D is off-axis color shift. It's pretty noticeable if you are sitting close. I imagine the 49" IPS...

Anyone using a 49 inch Samsung KS8500 as a monitor?

I ended up buying the X800D and previously have owned the KU6300, but not the KS8500. The KU6300 definitely has poor pixel response time (ie black smear) compared to the X800D. The X800D on the other hand I think may actually have slightly worse viewing angles. At 2ft I can definitely see...

    LG 27UD68P

FWIW, I'd suggest going and looking at one in best buy if you can. It's a fine monitor, but personally after seeing a 27" 4K in person, I decided I really wanted 32"+. Before that this was also a contender for me. I ended up buying a x800d which is great except for the typical VA color shift.

    xpr43x800d review

Nope, I haven't even setup wifi. :D So far I've just been using it as a monitor which has been working quite well. I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping it.

    xpr43x800d review

Looks like I can do gamut adjustments in 4:4:4 "game" mode, but auto appears to be choosing rec709 which appears to be right. I'll try to verify that is what the amdgpu drivers are doing. I've dropped contrast down to 45 from 50 and skin tones are looking less over-saturated. The place I'm...

    xpr43x800d review

Hi Guys, So my initial attempts at using 4K TVs as a computer monitor have not been great. My first was a $289 Samsung un40KU6290 from the Black Friday sale at costco. That display had a really nice picture with great contrast. The biggest downside was the poor pixel response times leaving...

Best 4k monitor for under $500?

In PC mode you'll get 4:4:4 chroma which will make text (especially red and blue) look far better, but you will indeed have higher input lag than game mode. Having said that, I kept mine in PC mode all the time since it was still low enough to not really bother me. Even in PC mode it's pretty...

Best 4k monitor for under $500?

I owned a 6290 for a couple of months. Unfortunately mine broke and costco no longer carried it so couldn't give me an exchange. It's a pretty good value to be sure. I suspect they use a couple of different panels in it since there may be a bit of a lottery involved.

Best 4k monitor for under $500?

FWIW the 6290/6300 has low input lag in game mode (and decent enough outside of game mode) but also high GTG response time so you'll see some smearing. No freesync either, but otherwise it's big and beautiful. The LG 27UD68 appears to be a decent monitor with good reviews but it's pretty...

    Dell 8K UP3218K Monitor Released

It's certain got the resolution, but the brightness isn't high enough for HDR at 400 cd/m2. Frankly the LG 32UD99 might actually look better since 4K @ 32" is still going to be extremely sharp and it claims to have a peak brightness of 550 cd/m2 (though 350cd/m2 typical).

    Dell 8K UP3218K Monitor Released

It'd be one thing if this was a 40+" screen, but at 32" this is pretty silly imho.

Anyone using a 49 inch Samsung KS8500 as a monitor?

That's my take too. I'm not too concerned about ~30ms input lag (though obviously ~10-20s would be nice). It's the pixel response time that gets me. I just wish the X900E came in a 43" version. The X800D could be an option if it would ever go on sale.

Anyone using a 49 inch Samsung KS8500 as a monitor?

    SixFootDuo, from the rtings review: 4k @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4 + HDR : 34.2 ms

Anyone using a 49 inch Samsung KS8500 as a monitor?

The slow pixel response time was actually the biggest problem I had with the KU6290. Hearing that it's also a problem on the KS8500 is very helpful since I was considering one of these. Thank you! I think it will be the LG 32UD99 for me. 49" is too big for me anyway. :D
