    Does that audio cable that usually comes with dvd burners have to be connected into your sound card (X-Fi XtremeMusic in my case) to take full advantage of the sound cards capabilities when playing CD or DVD's? I had one connected to my old computer in 2000, but currently have nothing connected...

    7950GT, 7900GTX or 7950GX2?

    Go with the 7950 GT and overclock it to GTX speeds (save that $100). You can swap out the heatsink fan if you'd like; eVGA does not care.

    How to properly update drivers?

    Boot up in safe mode, uninstall with Driver Cleaner Pro and also run CCleaner. Boot up in normal mode and install new drivers. Defrag.

    47 deg c at idle

    Nice. My 7900 GT OC'd to 650/1570. I couldn't get the momory clock to reach 1600... boo.
