This is by far the best VR-related thread I've ever read.

    VR Newbie needs advice

I went the same direction. Just wanted to add you can often find good deals via Amazon Warehouse. I picked my Odyssey up that way 2 weeks ago for $327.

    WTB (US) - 1080Ti

Picked up a VR headset and looking for something to help step up my GPU game and swap out with my 1060 3GB card. If you happen to be in the Chicago area (city or north / west burbs) let me know and we can probably work out a local exchange to avoid shipping.

    Current 43" 4K options?

Yep, I think it's probably very close to full sRGB, moreso than my tests report. You can see where my test reports 72.92% dci-p3 coverage, I think rtings had 75 or 76%.. they use a $7,000 device with pro-level software that costs quite a bit. I use a $150 consumer calibration device with free...

    Current 43" 4K options?

49" VA is much brighter.. I don't have them setup side by side, but I found 12 to be comfortable on the 43" IPS, and the 49" VA equivalent would be an 8. I'm ~ 2ft away in a very dark room. Text really isn't fuzzy at all, it's really not much of a difference as far as font smoothing goes, at...

    36" to 44" 4K Roundup

I’m really digging this MU6500. VA + curve is (at least for my uses) muuuuch nicer than the IPS 43MU6300, in both Windows 10 and OS X. Though unless something weird is going on at Samsung, the 40 MU6300 should be pretty much the same as the 49 MU6500, so kdawgs body of research on the 40/43...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Got the 49" MU6500. I much prefer this VA panel over the 43 MU6300. Blacks are so much darker. It was a PITA to calibrate, the SpyderPro software had no clue what was going on, but DisplayCal sorted it out after 45 minutes of chugging along. It's big, but not gigantic, the curve helps a bit with...

No, definitely not. Just read the reviews on the ghosting / burn-in on the Dell.

Using Samsung 4k TV as Gaming Monitor @60hz...

There are lots of variations on the cards between manufacturers, but my GTX 980 (non Ti) predates yours, and supports 4K @60Hz. I would still suspect the cable, but you may want to double check the specs on that particular video card.. it would surprise me though if it didn't support HDMI 2.0...

    Current 43" 4K options?

FWIW, if someone else using a mac comes across this a million years from now.. the Accel DP 1.2 -> HDMI 2.0 adapter worked to get me the 4k 60hz on the MU6300 with High Sierra.

    BestBuy 40" Samsung 4K $299.99

It would be a variant of the MU6100, not MU6300. Not sure if that's better or worse (or the same) for your needs, just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting! :) Edit - Actually you may be correct. I see rtings mentions a mU6070 in Canada as being a MU6300 variant, no mention of it...

Torn between an IPS and a VA 4k TV for a monitor.

YES! Brown tint.. definitely! I remember thinking shiny brown when looking at some photo editing apps and their UI (which should be a rather flat, dark grey).. I'm wondering if viewing distance and the resulting angles are causing this.. Since I'm much closer up than one normally is to a TV of...

    WTB - i7 2600k

Looking to upgrade an older system running an i3 3225 with something that has a bit more performance. Would prefer to pick it up here as opposed to eBay if I can. Would be open to a 3770k as well, but those are a bit pricey. Looking for more in the low $100-ish range. I'm in Chicago if anyone...
