Samsung Launches the $2,200 Odyssey OLED G9 with DQHD Resolution

There are ordinary non educational or affinity discounts available which took the price down nearly £350 for me to around £1670. This year I paid around £1300 for 49 inchers from Dell and LG both of which I sent back. The last generation Neo G9 was usually £1500-£1800 so the price of this new...

Samsung Launches the $2,200 Odyssey OLED G9 with DQHD Resolution

I’ve pre-ordered and due next week in the UK. Prefer the widescreen form factor over my current LG C2 42” which is after all a TV and not a monitor, with all that that entails. Keeping the C2 for Xbox.

    LG UltraGear 48GQ900 48" 4K 138Hz OLED

I wish I’d read this earlier, I just took delivery of another monitor today but was considering this. When you say not a lot is needed to restore the brightness what exactly do you mean? Would moving the mouse be sufficient to bring it back or do you still have to move windows.

What new OLED gaming monitors in 2023?

The new 49 inch Samsung OLED G9 looks to be right up my street. Just waiting on a price now. https://videocardz.com/press-release/samsung-announces-odyssey-neo-g9-worlds-first-dual-4k-ultrawide-57-inch-240hz-gaming-monitor-with-displayport-2-1

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

I understand that the aggressively timed screensaver on the C2 and auto shutdown are mitigation efforts against burn in but as a PC user I’d like to extend the time before they kick in. Is there any way to do this?

    Taskbar not showing (Win 10)

Thanks for the suggestion which I carried out. However the problem seems to be if I choose picture for desktop background. When I change to slideshow or solid colour all works to spec. Very weird indeed but at least I've moved forward. Again many thanks for your help.

    Taskbar not showing (Win 10)

Yes I have four monitors connected via a hub to the monitor. I took the troubled PC out and added it directly to another port on the TV and still the same problem unfortunately.

    Taskbar not showing (Win 10)

That’s selected automatically since I have the input setup as “PC”.

    Taskbar not showing (Win 10)

I have an OLED as my main PC monitor so minimise the taskbar as a mitigation against burn-in. Four Win 10 PCs are attached to the monitor and three work to spec i.e. when I hover over the bottom of the screen the taskbar pops up. However the fourth PC, which just happens to be the most...

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

No issue here. Biggest and only thing is the auto time out. But I keep the remote handy and it’s no big deal to switch back on.

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

We all have different tolerances and sensitivity but must admit in the last week I have moved from a standard Dell U4919DW PC monitor to the C2 and don't see anything too negative in the way it displays text. Sure I had to turns off ASBL in the service menu since that was obvious and annoying...

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

Surprised to read the comments about text clarity etc… It is the same panel and pixel structure. Might well be better than QD OLED but otherwise should be the same. So the reviews tend to go anyway.

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

Yeah me too, I’m glad I paid £859 plus £10 for a service remote rather than £1399. By coincidence here in the UK the Asus has arrived and confirmed delivery off Amazon this Thursday the 15th.

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

We haven’t even reached BF yet but in the UK the LG can be had for £859 whereas the still to arrive Asus is £1399. With that differential you really have to want the Asus and I just can’t see it myself, money talks as they say. I’d be using hdmi anyway due to my KVM so the Asus is off my own radar.

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

I’m similar but prepared to take the risk. I’ll be using the uniform brightness option, which lowers maximum brightness to cut down on dimming, plus whatever anti burn features they have, I’ll be on it seven hours per day. Since 2016 I’ve had various OLEDs for movie watching and yet to have one...
