There are ordinary non educational or affinity discounts available which took the price down nearly £350 for me to around £1670. This year I paid around £1300 for 49 inchers from Dell and LG both of which I sent back. The last generation Neo G9 was usually £1500-£1800 so the price of this new...
I’ve pre-ordered and due next week in the UK. Prefer the widescreen form factor over my current LG C2 42” which is after all a TV and not a monitor, with all that that entails. Keeping the C2 for Xbox.
I wish I’d read this earlier, I just took delivery of another monitor today but was considering this. When you say not a lot is needed to restore the brightness what exactly do you mean? Would moving the mouse be sufficient to bring it back or do you still have to move windows.
The new 49 inch Samsung OLED G9 looks to be right up my street. Just waiting on a price now.

I understand that the aggressively timed screensaver on the C2 and auto shutdown are mitigation efforts against burn in but as a PC user I’d like to extend the time before they kick in. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks for the suggestion which I carried out. However the problem seems to be if I choose picture for desktop background. When I change to slideshow or solid colour all works to spec. Very weird indeed but at least I've moved forward. Again many thanks for your help.
Yes I have four monitors connected via a hub to the monitor. I took the troubled PC out and added it directly to another port on the TV and still the same problem unfortunately.
I have an OLED as my main PC monitor so minimise the taskbar as a mitigation against burn-in. Four Win 10 PCs are attached to the monitor and three work to spec i.e. when I hover over the bottom of the screen the taskbar pops up.
However the fourth PC, which just happens to be the most...
We all have different tolerances and sensitivity but must admit in the last week I have moved from a standard Dell U4919DW PC monitor to the C2 and don't see anything too negative in the way it displays text. Sure I had to turns off ASBL in the service menu since that was obvious and annoying...
Surprised to read the comments about text clarity etc… It is the same panel and pixel structure. Might well be better than QD OLED but otherwise should be the same. So the reviews tend to go anyway.
Yeah me too, I’m glad I paid £859 plus £10 for a service remote rather than £1399. By coincidence here in the UK the Asus has arrived and confirmed delivery off Amazon this Thursday the 15th.
We haven’t even reached BF yet but in the UK the LG can be had for £859 whereas the still to arrive Asus is £1399. With that differential you really have to want the Asus and I just can’t see it myself, money talks as they say. I’d be using hdmi anyway due to my KVM so the Asus is off my own radar.
I’m similar but prepared to take the risk. I’ll be using the uniform brightness option, which lowers maximum brightness to cut down on dimming, plus whatever anti burn features they have, I’ll be on it seven hours per day.
Since 2016 I’ve had various OLEDs for movie watching and yet to have one...
Well not surprisingly Amazon UK does not have the item in stock yet. They apologised for taking the money prior to dispatch and gave me £5 compensation lol
I’m hoping for mid-September based on the Asus Live Stream though the guy did not fully understand what he was talking about. He said you...
Asus Nordic are saying week 45 for availability of the 42” which I guess means early November. Amazon UK keep on pushing their date and only giving a month 1-2 range. Still praying for September but for sure we will get to see some in-depth reviews first...
Must admit we here in the UK usually do not see the price of monitors drop in the same way as TVs. The price I paid earlier this year for my Dell U4919DW was the same as when it was released four years ago. The C2 started at £1400 earlier this year, is now £950 or better, probably £800 for BF...
That’s not the situation here in the UK. The Asus is £1399 and the C2 easily had for £950 and dropping. We are facing a large premium and that is a big consideration for me, though I prefer the Asus if all other things were equal.
If you have a look at the manual I posted above it does PIP and PBP from any source.
People will want the pitch black and vibrant colours of OLED for various use cases, not just gaming. Although obviously this is a gaming oriented monitor primarily.
The manual is now available. I’m hoping that you can assign the two favourite buttons to the DP and HDMI 2.1 source.
It looks like you get the same half arsed quality remote you’d see on a £40 Roku or Firestick. Not good for those that want to attach multiple devices. The LG being a TV does...
I don’t know about others but if I got to one year using the same monitor it would be historic. I change mine regularly. So for me personally longevity on these things is a non issue.
I’m only interested in it being pixel perfect and an OLED PC monitor would be new ground for me. Thoroughly...
Asus 42 inch - Does anyone know how the remote works on this thing. Is it IR or RF?
Can you select a discrete source or do you have to keep on pressing the source button and toggle around each and every source until you get to where you want.
I’m thinking in terms of programming a Harmony...
I have two PCs and a work laptop connected to a Dell U4919DW. Using the included Dell software I can easily switch between the three machines using my keyboard. All peripherals connected to the monitor are also switched. Problem is that when switching the machines act is if USB devices are...
I’ve just ordered a Dell 49” 32:9 monitor. The included Dell management software, which I currently use on another monitor, is ok for switching sources and splitting of screens but still basic. I’m looking for a versatile manager that will give me the best experience for opening, re-sizing and...
I just picked up a new 49 inch one off Amazon UK for £721, so fingers crossed. Heavily discounted now it’s a few generations back, but still fine for a casual gamer like me.
I’ve got one of these arriving tomorrow loaded with 16Gb Ram and a 500Gb NVME. I’m happy to exchange thoughts and ideas with other owners, as they come on stream.
