Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I did have 2800 memory and switched to 2666 -- originally it defaulted with an early BIOS, to a higher STRAP (forget what) when XMP was enabled and that memory speed selected, but with one of the later BIOS updates, it does default to 100 for the STRAP and 100 for the BCLK for a 1:1 when 2666 is...
There are several programs to clone an SSD but when I install a new drive with the OS and programs on it, I prefer to to a virgin install (especially since this was the free upgrade from Win7 to Win10 and probably left a lot of garbage behind plus the garbage in the registry left behind by me...
Agree here -- set it to stock and if it does not boot and stay up and running in Windows, then start going through the UEFI. Once stock and running, I found that the 5 Way Optimization on my X99 Deluxe really stumbled and would dump me back into the UEFI when rebooting -- same for optimizing...
Pardon a seriously stupid question -- have been out of the loop in computer building for some time -- look at my sig line and notice the CPU (water cooled) -- have the base clock set at 100, the multiplier set at 42 for a 4.2 GHz overclock.
When first booting up, it runs at that speed for about...
Suggestions for installation of Samsung 950 Pro M.2?? My X99-based build has been rock solid for a year even with a Windows 10 upgrade without a fresh install. I would like to install the 950 Pro M.2 for the OS and programs since I still have 4 lanes unused and it should speed things up a bit...
IF I had 32 Gigs of G.Skill DDR4 2800 and wanted to set aside some of that RAM as a RAM DRIVE since it would be so much faster than an SATA III SSD and am hoping that a ram drive would make a great scratch disk for Photoshop and other possible applications.
Long ago, Ram Drives were popular...
I am using the same memory running at full frequency -- turned off all four mechanical switches near the lower right corner and enabled XMP in the UEFI and followed the directions in the OC Tutorial -- am not wanting to set any records for my needs, but will settle for 4.2 GHz, 2800 MHz at full...
Thanks for both of your helpful answers -- very much appreciated
I had looked at Advanced-->PCH Configuration-->PCI Express Configuration and you pointed me to the RIGHT place!!
I cannot find the option in the UEFI of my X99D running the latest BIOS to set it to Gen 3 -- my options are Auto, Gen 1 and Gen 2.
When I run GPU-Z and the Render test, both GTX 980's start out X16 PCIE 3.0 and then one of the drops X16 PCIE 1.1
Wondering WHY I don't have the Gen 3 option...
I set the SLI switch on my X99 Deluxe board to SLI which caused white LED's to light up as per the directions in the manual. Then proceeded to set up the 2nd GTX 980 (which is identical to the first one). Can I assume that the switch needs to stay in the SLI position AND the two white LED's will...
I am a quasi - noob, having been an IT Director and built lots of computers but have been retired for 13-14 years and the last computer that I built was over 6 years ago and have always used ATI/AMD/Radeon GPU's, I am a bit out of touch and the learning curve for some of us seniors gets...
As I understand it, Intel's support of the i7-59xx CPU's for DRAM is limited to 2600 MHz or less (maybe it is 2400 MHz as max) -- WILL Intel ever have an update for the i7-59xx series of processors that support higher frequencies than 2400 or 2600 or are we stuck permanently with workarounds?
It started being hard to start after the first couple of weeks -- usually using the reset button on the motherboard and several retries works but today after turning it completely off and moving it today, it took at least two dozen retries before it started (even turned off the PSU and unplugged...
